A bid will be imminantly placed for the signature of Seydou Doumbia - Guaranteed survival next season and a high enough wage, Seydou will be at St.Marys very soon. Jarvis is also on the way along with Spanish CM - Michu. These three players and a few more will be the only additions to the saints squad for the forthcoming season

Strikers
Rickie Lambert – KEEP: Championship top scorer, and deserves a crack at the top flight.
Tadanari lee – KEEP: an international standard player, and once recovered from his injury will be a big player for Saints next year.
Billy Sharp – KEEP: Had a great end to the season last year, and will look to have a shot in the premier league
Lee Barnard – SOLD/LOAN: Had limited chances in the championship, don’t think he’ll get much of a look in in the premier league.
Jonathan Forte – SOLD: Adkins does seem to like him, but don’t think hes good enough for the prem.
David Connolly – RELEASED: Seems too injury prone to be relied upon. Though may be kept on to be part of the squad.
Ryan Doble – RELEASED: Out of contract in the summer and don’t expect him to be kept on.
Sam Hoskins – LOAN: Has said he’d like to go out on loan to gain more experience to one day get into the Saints first team.

Verdict: one striker could be worth signing, but only if it’s not at an overinflated price.

Centre Midfielders
Jack Cork – KEEP: Is a player with massive potential.
Morgan Schneiderlin – KEEP: One of the most improved players last term, and becoming an essential player for Saints in midfield.
Dean Hammond – KEEP: can do a job for the squad, and is a fantastic leader. But think he may struggle a little in the prem.
James Ward-Prowse – Keep: Expect him to be similar to what he got this year; Cup and development squad.

Verdict: An older player with premier league experience would do wonders for Morgan and Cork.

Wingers
Adam Lallana – KEEP: Do I need to say anything. Nominated for player of the season and in team of the year and will be a top player for Saints in the premier league.
Jason Puncheon – SOLD: Don’t think he has the right attitude, and don’t think he’s Adkins favourite player because of it. Has premier league experience though, so may be kept on.
Guly do Prado – KEEP: Think the premier league should suit him more than the football league.
Lee Holmes – RELEASED: Has already had talks with Swindon over a permanent deal.
Richard Chaplow – KEEP: can do a very good job in the Saints squad
Steve De Ridder – KEEP: Think he will stay, but think he may struggle. Too one footed, and will be sussed out very quickly in the prem.
Ben Reeves – LOAN: needs a season where he is playing regularly, but is well thought of by Nigel Adkins.

Verdict: A right mid is a priority, and preferably one with a bit of pace as well. Cover for Lallana would also be good if Puncheon does go.

Centre Backs
Jose Fonte – KEEP: Has been good in the championship. Will need to see if he can make the step up to the prem. But should do a solid job
Jos Hooiveld – KEEP: Has been fantastic this year. Should be fine in the Premier League
Aaron Martin – LOAN: Another player that could do with regular football week in week out.
Radhi Jaidi – RELEASED: Has hinted that he has not been offered a new deal with Southampton
Harlee Dean – RELEASED: Not a premier league player. Has already said he will not remain at Southampton beyond the end of the season.
Dan Seabourrne – SOLD/LOAN: Don’t think he’s a premier league player, so a spell away from the club will be needed if he wants to play every week.
Verdict: At least one Centre back is needed, preferably with premier league experience. Maybe even two signed, to ensure cover.

Has to be 2 centre backs, unless we keep Aaron Martin but I think he needs some championship games before he is ready to step up to prem. Would definitely like 2 CBs, especially seen as there are quite a few experienced ones out there for cheap.

Full Backs
Frazer Richardson – KEEP: Has done very well this season when playing. One of our best assisters
Danny Butterfield – KEEP: signed a new one year contact earlier in the season so fully expect him to stay.
Jack Stephens – LOAN: A lot of potential. A loan will do him good.
Danny Fox – KEEP: Has been fantastic this season. And his set piece delivery could be invaluable.
Dan Harding – KEEP: Is a good reserve to have in the team.
Ryan Dickson – SOLD: Think he’s a good player, but not Premier League level.
Luke Shaw – KEEP: Still young, would expect him to stay in our development squads.
Verdict: Not a priority position, somewhere we will need to look at if we want to become an established prem team, but solid enough atm.

Sorry mate, agree with all your other posts but I really disagree with you here. Possibly our weakest position.

Richardson and butterfield have had ok seasons, decent delivery but will be lacking in pace this year. Look at most successful teams in the prem and they have pacey fullbacks. I'd be tempted to keep them but sign an experienced, faster right back.

Danny fox has been decent going forward but always gets beaten and lets crosses into the box defensively. Harding too slow. Again would like to see a quicker and experienced right back.

Possibly for these positions get a utility player who can play left or right back and bring them in if the others are found struggling.

Can see where you're coming from. But wouldn't want to blow too much of the budget on these positions

Goalkeepers
Kelvin Davis – KEEP: Has been fantastic this season, and deserves a chance in the Premier League.
Bartosz Bialkowski - LOAN: Has the potential to be a top keeper, but needs match practice.
Tommy Forcast – KEEP: I expect him to stay this summer, and then be released next year at the end of his contract
Jack Dovey - LOAN: Has been on loan at Eastleigh this year, still young, and expect a similar deal to be done.

Verdict: Kelvin is a very good keeper to have, but if Bart does go out on loan, 1 keeper will be needed to add competition to KD.

Agreed, Davis been in team of the season for the last 3 seasons and not that old for a keeper.

Would like to sign someone young and bring them into the squad and make them a key player in years to come.
