Oh oh. Lawrie Mc extolling the virtues of a British manager. Softening the incoming blow maybe?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I doubt the club asked him to make that statement just so they could bring in a British manager. The club will back whoever they think is best for the job. Lawrie is entitled to his own opinion and I think it is fair enough for him to think we should go British. A young and unknown British manager got us to the Premiership and there is a lot of British management talent. Although I disagree with him about Moyes being a good idea for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure who I'd like as a Brittish manager, Eddie Howe's a young up and coming English manager but hasn't got much experience

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Howe turn us down after interviewing? We then went and got NA.

Koeman will be saints manager monday

I suppose we just have to wait lads. Wouldn be a fan of bruce either but it's not like keoman was a success everywhere he has been. I'd push for him as he plays an expansive game that we as fans have grown to love. As for transfers lambert is gone but we still have kept hold of the other stars so far so let's hope the club want to keep pushing forward and keep the fans happy.

Don't shoot me down guys! My friend is a physio at the club and I can tell you that only the obvious people at the club know who the manager will be. But what he has told me is Monday is the day the announcement will be made!

He also knows koeman has been for talks and he is not awear of any official talks with Bruce although he said he would not mind working with him (pls no!)

So either way we will definately know by Monday! COYR!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hope your right, I still hope Koeman will be our manager but you never know, I don't think Steve Bruce would come anyway as he'll want to manage Hull in Europe

Steve Bruce would be a dissaster! might as well get big sam, there both hoof it managers totally the opposite of the Southampton way of playing football

I can just see Steve Bruce trying to convince Adam, Luke and Dejan, to stay at Saints, please stay lads all you got to do is get the ball and hoof it, how easy is that, no running around no high pressing it will be a stroll in the park, we will confuse the opposition into thinking were going to pass and press then will hoof it they will be in awe at our new style and we might just avoid relegation if were lucky.

Typical Saints apointment, can't you just see Les Reed with the opening statement at the press conference. We really tried to get the best and highest caliber manager we could we had lots of candidates, most had european experience managed in the top leagues some even had sucsess in the champions league, we whitteled it down to six, then four, then two, let's all get excited by this apointment and get behind the best manager we could afford then out pops Steve Bruce all the press are in total disbelief and silence except for the occasional snigger then Kruger walks in and says look lads this is the situation our billionair owner is in debt to the sum of 30 million for the acadamy we never actually said we would employ a top class manager we just said that a few had sent in their cv's, while were at it we never said that no players would be leaving the club, what we said was we had not received any good offers for any one yet and it would be after the world cup we would decide who we would sell.

{Ed002's Note - Certainly Southampton has spoken with Bruce but I am not so sure he would be interested.}

Let him get relegated while playing on thursdays in albania then. Not sure many saints fans will be impressed with his appointment either

Edd: surely if Bruce was not insterested in the saints job then he would not talk to us???

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea how you think the interview process works. Bruce is one of the people who has been spoken to about the job, I suspect he may not be interested.}

Ed so your saying that bruce would turn us down? And he's are main target as a manager?

Feels like your opinion of southampton has taken a huge dent as of yet not sure if that is due to some posters on here or what but 2 people with itk connections at southampton have stated koeman is the man and will be revealed monday/tuesday.

So looking forward to seeing where the bruce story ends up

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There seems to be little point in telling you anything on this page. I got abuse from posters for say Pochettino would leave, there was interestin in Lovren, Lallana, Luke Shaw, Schneiderlin and, if fit, Rodrigues. I explain that Koeman has been interviewed but has kept his options open, I explain that Steve Bruce and a couple of others have been interviewed. Southampton has made enquiries about players, but are awaiting the new manager before bidding - but nobody wants to hear any of this - fine by me. You get nothing more.}

I heard about 5 days ago everything was set with Koeman about to sign but he started to stall over it, maybe he was hearing Mancini would be leaving and was told he was a candidate for that job? I don't think Koeman will be our new manager but I like the sound of Steve Bruce. He's done a great job at Hull, no he's not a huge name but he will get the players who want to stay working for him, seems a great man manager. I know everybody wants to see a huge name but come on, really did people honestly believe we were ever going to be getting in europe? But then again if Mancini was to come in i'd start to change my mind about the europe thing. Also heard Lovren hasn't actually handed in a request to leave he just wants permission to talk to a top club if they do come in for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ofcourse we believe we can get into Europe! We weren't far off this year, Steve Bruce wouldn't match our style of play, we need someone to build in our style not completely change it, which is why Koeman and Yakin would be good choices. It's not impossible that Koeman would come to us, as the last team he managed was Feyenoord which isn't the biggest club in the world.

Agree0 Disagree0

Galatassary have spoken with Koeman.
