{Ed001's Note - it is possible, yes, I can't see a better alternative on current form, personally.}

Would be awesome, 4 of our players in the squad!

we should definitely be looking at players like Alessio Romagnoli, Daniele Rugani, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Ocampos, Jese Ruiz, Wilf Zaha, Tom Ince. Whether we'd get them is another story, but i'd love to see all of them in a saints shirt

Well, I would not! Is there so little understanding of what the club are doing with the pathway from the Academy to the first team? To "see all of them in a Saints shirt" would mean that pathway was not there and would lead to an exodus of our developing young players. If that is the way you want a club to operate I think you could be disappointed.

At the moment we are only a couple of injuries away from a much weaker team and most people realise that. Just one or two very good signings in January could make all difference over a long season to keep our high tempo work rate going right till the end.
We have been very fortunate that our first team has remained so fit this year but we must expect that at some point we will have to deal with a couple of bad knocks.
Longterm we are aiming at over 50% of the first team from the academy and to qualify for CL so a balance is required.
Right now there are quite a few in the squad that are nowhere near getting a start unless there is an injury so that alone says we could improve that situation in January perhaps. But just one maybe two at the most and in the end we want decent competition for every position on the field.

Regarding the above post and 50% of the team having come from the academy, at the "Leaders in Football Conference" Cortese stated that he wanted 80% to have come from the academy.

Previously Cortese did state that he wanted 50%, but that is so 'last year' lol.

I can see that Saints will strengthen in the transfer window, but I wouldn't expect too much in January - Our January signings haven't been a great success overall.

Saints will continue to strengthen the squad, and IF Saints qualify for the CL it will enable Saints to bring in better quality players. However, we are slightly hampered by our gate receipts with regards to the wages we can pay.

So, we have to be a little bit sensible with regards to the players we'll bring in. Predominantly we will be promoting the likes of Omar Rowe, Jake Sinclair, Harrison Reed, Sam Gallagher, Matty Targett, etc etc.

Just on a side note, does anyone know where Marcus Barnes has come from? Nothing on the Saints OS about him, and he looks a little bit good.

Not sure if Ince or Zaha would fit the bill. But Zouma and Ocampos would be perfect, but I agree with above posters, it's important to remember our roots and make sure we give preferential treatment to our own youngsters.

Marcus barnes is from either wolves or derby and is brother of giles barnes. Once thought of as a very good talent

It's on the OS site now. Marcus Barnes is from Wolves, and turns 17 on the 1st Dec.

With Seager, Gallagher, and Barnes coming through we should have cover by the time Lambert retires. From what I've seen of them they all have the potential to do well.

RE: Marcus Barnes. He's the brother of former Derby player Giles Barnes, who was a very gifted youngster that never really kicked on. Still only 25, plays in the MLS now.

Saints apparently beat out Chelsea to sign him up from (according to their twitter) "WWFC". Whether that's Wolves or Wycombe, I'm not sure.

I hear what people are saying about if we buy players in then they block the path of the youngsters. Buttner would have been a good example of that had it come off.
But if we are to kick on and play CL football anytime soon then I think we need to buy a few more quality palyers to provide good competition and backup for every position.
If we pick just up a few injuries (apart from Guly) we could nose dive right now.
