Pullis resigns as stoke manager 2 days before start of season, he's not happy with the summers transfer targets. Does this mean jack corks move to palace is off?anyone know?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Crystal palece btw not stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think cork was ever off, he's in discussions about new contract all paper crap

After today's signings we only need another CB and RW
And possibly some cover at RB
I would like to see
Vlaar at CB
Byram at RB
Lens at RW

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more. CB - Vlaar/Shawcross RB - Byram RW - Lens/Berardi/Biabiany/Depay

Agree0 Disagree0

Rw for me would have to be biabiany or Lennon

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see lens here. And he wants to leave kiev so we could snap him up if we went in for him

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not 100% sure on Vlaar, I'd much rather Shawcross, then Byram would be quality and I'd love Redmond at Saints too, then we'd have a really solid English core to the team, which I think quite important

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree we need to have some English talent, otherwise it will be Orange stripes next year!

Shane Long is a solid player and always caused us trouble, okay maybe £12 million is a bit steep. Lala £26 million. Shaw £30 million - Lovren £20 million so maybe £8-9 million might have been about right but does it matter?
Our new Romanian built Tank has been valued per Kg I think. what a good choice, I'm impressed!
Southampton have some great youngsters and they will benefit from the enthusiasm and leadership of Ronald McKooman my view is that he will take us to the next level. as fans we need patience, its going to take a few months to knit together and as with anything in life a few things will not work out but if he get 80% right I'm good with that! Looking forward to the new season and attending every game at home with my best mate Rob Easton.

Is Cork staying or going? If he is going bang goes any belief in this Board! Why can, t we have a statement? NO MORE SALES! Remember???

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2014 09:00:12
If Cork is having discussions about a new contract, or considering a move, it would be wholly inappropriate for the club to make a statement. I want the Board to be doing their job on behalf of the club and player. What business makes statements continuously about what it is doing?

CrystalPalace tony pulis in crisis talks with chairman
Over transfers may effect jack cork?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tony Pulis has left his post at crystal palace, wow that's a shocker

Agree0 Disagree0

God I hope so, though Palace looks a lot more like the transfers go through the board, not the manager. Hopefully Corky has a good re-think now though.

So Long and Gardos are both done which is fantastic news, we may have overpaid for Long which I think he agrees with too as he stated that he needs to prove his worth, I think both will fit our system well and are good signings, now we could do with 1 more CB I think to add depth and maybe a right winger, sounds like there have been no bids for Cork either which is good, as apparently Koeman see's him as cover at RB which is maybe why our interest in Byram has cooled, it would be great to either get a marque signing at CB or a proven solid premier league player, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would like to see one more defender and winger by the transfer window. I think a RB is more of a priority for depth as Yoshida can provide cover, but ideally if possible a CB and RB. Maybe Vlaar/Shawcross would be good. RB, maybe Glen Johnson (even though he was a skate!) Byram would be good but Leeds really want to keep him. I would like a winger, someone with pace and trickery and isn't afraid to run at players. I reckon a winger would be a good marqee signing but I'm not sure who

Looking at the players we had as these world beaters everyone seems to think they are is rose tinted imo, they done well in the system we played last season but who's to say they'd do well this season? Maybe we should all wait until a couple of months into the season to see how these players we've sold are doing in a different system and how the ones we've bought are doing before we start going off on one about it. who knows you might be surprised and possibly end up liking who we have better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I completely agree, I'm adamant that a lot of fans who were so negative in the beginning will be happy with our squad by September 1st.

A top ten finish awaits.

Have to agree with SaintySaintSaint as I've said before if we hadn't have had such a fantastic start to last season we would have been right there in the mix at the lower end of the table. It was the same for Newcastle as well. Our second half to the season was very average and only appeared to be ok by the great goalkeeping of Artur. Just feel that we will be ok this season and still feel Koeman will sign Vlaar even if it is 10 minutes to go on deadline day. Let's get behind the club and the manager right from the first whistle.

To be honest I'm pretty underwhelmed by these signings. I've been trying to stop following Saints transfer activity, I've never seen so much talent leave a football club in one go. On a positive note hopefully they'll gell and we'll surprise people! COYR

As a life long Saints fan, my biggest concern about the substantial comings and goings this summer are the loss of the young English players (yes we have more coming through, however, I'd like to see us retain them) also the long-term player situation - for example we have (currently) half the 1st team players left from last season and it (personally) feels the club's direction has changed (new manager and new chariman, I know)
I also have concerns with the massive changes and the implications this will have on the future, we don't and we won't know how long RK will be our manager, it could it one season but all these changes from proven EPL players to let's buy and see is risky. What are other saints fans views?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2014 17:35:43
Im really sitting on the fence here. We have gotten rid of egos who have left and Srl Who deserves his chance. I am worried that we have gone from a team that played well as a team to one that won't have a chance to gel until it might be too late. Led by a manager who hasn't managed in this division. I don't care for a lot of the anti board rubbish spouted on here by people however. I think they have managed this situation poorly. We could and should have had replacements before we let the others go. What happened to our world besting scouting system?
I think we will struggle until christmas and will thrn hopefully come together but until then its going to be painful.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree we should have had replacements in before selling off our players, that way we may have been able to keep more of them too, as players like Lovren would see that we still have ambition with the players coming in, but what done is done and I'm pretty happy with who we've brought in, I think we'll be a bit of an unknown quantity next season depending on how long everyone takes to adjust to the prem, with signings like Long and Bertrand we know we have to proven premier league player there, the rest look like they should be fine but we can never be sure

Boruc tweeted: WTF is going on in here?? #boruc #saintsfc

So that's him gone then.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, he usually takes the 'p' out of himself on instagram when he gets caught in a bad photo, that's all that is. Done the same when he done the back flip vs arsenal? and loads of other times

if cork leaves i will be absolutely fuming, shocking decision if true.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A newspaper just reported no bids have been received for Jack Cork and neither have discussions regarding a new contract, I'd suggest it makes sense just to start these contract negotiations now before we do receive bids - JC's a versatile player and has a great work ethic and we need to be retaining him as a team/player more so when Morgan isn't committed to saints

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2014 18:02:09
The Echo broke the story that Cork was going yesterday and then refuted it today, saying no bids have been received. I'd say that the whole business was made up by them to drive clicks/comments on their website.

I read this to and really want to keep him, one of my favourite players remaining at the club and he should start IMO

It's official southampton FC have lost the plot £12 million for Shane Long hull City agony use the money to buy Danny Welbeck then we sell Jack Cork for 3 million to Crystal Palace only straightening and opposition team!is somebody at the club on a self destruct or something because none of this makes any sense whatsoever just when you think Southampton are pulling it together with some signings they turn around and lose the plot again? we need a statement from the club with some intention of what's going to happen going forward!
If your girlfriend kept stabbing you in the back no matter how much you loved her you would eventually have to leave her! Point being southampton supporters can only be expected to put up with so much!

I've just seen that Bruce has bid £14 million for welbeck as a replacement for long, if rather have welbeck let's just go with him instead

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately I think it's to late now we have confirmed the signing of Long.

I much prefer Long to Welbeck. I've never seen what Welbeck offers as either a striker or a left winger TBH. Long at least brings determination and extraordinary energy, even if he's a bit short in the pure talent department.

I am a Saints fan and proud. Proud of the shirt, the club and all that is red and white. Whilst I do not necessarily agree that every bit of business that has been carried out thus far is good business, I have been really disappointed at the reaction of a large number of Saints fans and their attitude towards the club and its 'management'.

We are all hugely disappointed at what has happened since May when we all felt another year and a few additions would see us push onto a European stage. But let's not forget that our board and new management didn't threaten to walk out. It was a few greedy individuals who showed no loyalty to the club that we love so much that caused the start of any problems.

The board employed RK who generally is as good a replacement as we could hope for, to replace that scab Pochedoodaa. . So Koeman has been entrusted with getting a new squad together.

You can see that he (they) are trying to hire better than average players in the main but the 'best of the best' don't want to come and want to go to the supposed 'bigger clubs'. That cannot be helped. It is fact. So the bottom line is that we are only going to get the best of the rest. So live with it and stop giving out gobfuls of shite whenever you don't like a decision that;s been made.

I for one am applauding their efforts made so far. Give 'em a break and let's as a whole group of fans start to get behind Koeman, the board and all the squad that is assembled WHOEVER IT MAY BE and in a few days time, we may be pleasantly surprised. If it starts badly, then the boys will need some time. Let's not panic and ask for heads to roll.

After all the ins and outs in the squad, man-for-man are we any worse off. really than in May, other than needing a central defender to replace F*** face Lovren. The new guys stat-wise are more than a match for those departing. So don't panic.

Personally I'd like to thank KL and the board so far in sticking with the programme and re-investing. just like they promised. I'm looking forward hopefully to proving wrong some of my non-Saints mates and non-believers. I;ve still got 3 Saints players in my fantasy team!

COYR

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like all the above comment I think the signing of the season will prove to RK much better than Loch more nowse more experience better all around manager so well done the board for signing him. Football is a team game not just a bunch of superstars cobbled together. RK will turn us eventually into good TEAM.

St Moose at last someone with the right attitude and speaking the facts as they are. Too many so called supporters trying to make life as difficult as possible for RoKo and the board. It is our football CLUB that matters not individual players who have literally got too big for their boots. I am going to be unpopular I know but I include SRL in this, I have met him and he is a great guy and still a very good player. However if he thinks he will be running out at Anfield on a regular basis he is going to be sadly disappointed. He should have stayed with us and although probably wouldn't get so much game time as last season would still be making useful contributions in the Premier League. Going to get hammered I know but this exodus all started with Rickie, I am not blaming him but just maybe it was the catalyst that got the rest of the prima donnas thinking about the big time. I remember the days of Mike Channon who was probably our best player ever including Le Tiss, he was Saints through and through but eventually succumbed to the big lights and went to Manchester City and to be honest was never the same player again. Just maybe Koeman knows better than most of us what is going to work with the players he has available and if it doesn't start off too well please don't get the rope out and sling it over a tree, give him a bit of time.
I wonder how many remember sitting 5 years ago in the bitter cold watching Hartlepools ( sorry Jeff )
and thinking we have got to win this one. Not very long ago is it, in a nutshell we have probably come too far too fast and have been the victim of our own success. I would like if possible the Ed to put Saint Moose's post on the rumour site, I think it would interesting to see how many people actually agree with him. If it turns out negatively I really think we have a lot of people on here who are not true Saints supporters. We need people supporting our CLUB no matter what which I think many people that comment on here actually do. The alternative to what we have at the moment if some of you got your way and got rid of the board and the owner is pretty frightening. Keep on their back and you might live to regret your lack of support.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could't agree more. We have bought some good players, we have a v good manager. it may take a while to click, but stay positive. We don't want moaners on this site, constructive comments are ok! Heres to an interesting season!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with StMoose and Chrisdownj the so called fans who have been whining on this site since before Roko signed on are just a disgrace to Southampton. Our team will finish around 10th this year and if Roko doesn't get too pissed off with these people and stays for a second season we will be top 6. I will not bother to log on to this site again until our 10th game to say I told you so. These people contribute nothing. If they pissed on the pitch instead of the management we might get something worth having from them
