For me in this window we should sign some quality players to add squad depth, these are the types of players we should go for:
GK: Fraser Forster/Alex McCarthy
CB: Micah Richards/Steven Caulker/Michael Dawson
RAM/LAM: Arron Lennon/Thomas Ince/ Alex Oxlade Chamberlin (loan)
and we should use Matty Taggart as LB cover, then we should be pretty solid, also maybe sell Hoiveld, Fox, Guly, loan out Gazzaniga, Rowe and Isgrove so they can get some first team action and keep Gaston! He has the ability, we just need to get him confident and back in the team as he does have so much potential! Also if we don't get a winger let's recall Punch as he was one of our best players last year and that will give more cover, COYR!

I heard saints still looking at cresswell at ipswich he is young and could do a job for saints
see what happens

Agree0 Disagree0

He'd be good, but we don't want to be signing players to cover, should use our kids for that plus he's the sort of age who will need 1st team football to progress

Agree0 Disagree0

Should get a good transfer budget in January to keep at the club?

Having sacked AVB, rumours circulate that Spurs have placed Pochettino's name on shortlist for their manager's job. Alongside the likes of Capello, Hoddle, Laudrup and Klinsmann.

Pochettino is soon going to be in demand from the "big" clubs, and if he wants a stepping-stone job before then, he'd stand a good chance of getting offered it.

True he will likely be asked about it but he won't leave he joined saints for the project and now he is crucial to it, it's a perfect match for him

Jan could be a good opportunity for a freshen up in the squad on two accounts. Squad looks thin and we 're quite attractive proposition with World Cup year coming up because of good league position and positive media.
I'd ship out Gazza, Hooiveld, Ramirez and if if back to fitness, Guly and Fox. Shouldn't disrupt first team and provides competition for places

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolutely.

There's a number of England internationals (and other nationalities) who don't get enough match time at their current club. They'd not wanna jeopardise their World Cup place, so a move to a club like Southampton (I say like, as Swansea would also be attractive) on a season loan would do them a lot of good.

Jack Rodwell, Micah Richards, and (ssssh, if he scores lots of goals it doesn't matter he played for Portsmouth!) Jermain Defoe, I would be excited to sign.

Rodwell would probably fit in the best from these names, in terms of position he plays and where we could do with a bit of freshening up or cover. Obviously. I'd sign him to play him.

Swap all the names on my list for Gaston Ramirez!

Shame we didn't go in for someone like Spurs' Michael Dawson or (ex Spurs no Cardiff) Steven Caulker back in the summer. They'd have been brilliant additions to our back four. (Dejan Lovren has been an amazing signing. Great season so far)

Pochettino would probably already have his eyes on a few talents from off the radar himself, but I wouldn't be too surprised if we managed to nab (nab, lovely word!) anyone I've mentioned.

The biggest ears in football has retired - Rory Delap. I remember people booing him as he wound up for a long throw in his Saints days.

With the Billy Sharp loan to reading ending in January and Alex McCarthy playing so well in goal is there a deal to be done?

Think he would add the right depth to the sqaud and push Boruc who after all shouldn't have the position all to himself.

The guy is 'local' ish but think he may have a long term contract.

The connection with LEGEND Nigel Adkins would make or break this possible deal too. Alex McCarthy (Reading's highly rated England U21 goalkeeper) is the kind of 'keeper we could do with - He's young, he's apparently determined, hardworking and a good lad, and would be able to play when Boruc's injured/suspended and be his long-term replacement as first team 'keeper. Certainly looks a much safer pair of hands than young Gazzaniga (who could yet still turn out to be a superb #1)

Billy Sharp deserves to play games. He's a top quality player, a goal machine and (I've bumped into him before) a nice guy too. Adkins deserves to take another club to the Premier League, and I hope he does it this season with Reading (Football Club) and with Billy Sharp as his talisman.

So, yeah, swap deal involving Sharp and McCarthy would be a good one for Saints.

So Spurs have sacked Villas-Boas.
Any money Levy will now try to get Pochettino, any money. He´s exactly the type Levy likes, he wanted Mourinho, he then went for Ramos, and Villas - Boas.
I reckon Pochettino will stay with the Saints though, he seems happy, and there is lots of ambition and potential there.
Plus Levy makes terrible decisions, like sacking Redknapp after Spuds finished 4th. Maybe he has sacked Villas Boas too soon too. Such a lack of patience will only discourage other potential managers. Maybe Real Madrid can get away with it, but the Spuds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What rubbish spurs sack Abby I know let's put two& two together get six and say ponch to spurs

Agree0 Disagree0

So Levy is upset because his manager wanted to pick the team! What serious manager will join that sort of set-up? Certainly not MP.
