2-1 loss to liverhampton, we deserved at least a point especially from what the second half brought us, still, great goal from clyne, and I think that if we can make the scousers struggle for points then I think we can finish in a similar position to last season, COYR!

Top 4 performance well done Saints

sterling man of the match? I thought wanyama was excellent, although he was at fault for the winner, we were very unlucky, brilliant performance, no more doom and gloom, get behind the team onwards and upwards

Great game team out played Liverhampton and on an other day could of been 4-2 to us! My only two concerns are pelle should be winning the ball more? And didn't look like scoring in a month of Sunday's and yoshida still are weak link at the back! Everyone else look excellent!

Pelle did do better in the second half, and was managing to win the ball a bit and lay it off to Prowsie, Tadic, and Long when he came on. In the first half, he looked more than a little frustrated--I think the pace, aggressiveness, and strength of Skrtel surprised him. It's a big step up from the Eredivisie.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally though pelle looked good, he got a bit out muscled for the first half, but I think he's used to being by far stronger than the cbs marking him. second half though his hold up play etc was great, would like to see him more willing to take a shot, a couple of times it opened up for him on the edge of the box but he hesitated before passing wide

Bertrand and Clyne both great today but MOM was big Vic. . Immense! Overall pretty impressed but did more than enough to come away with something.

Totally agree I thought bar a few slip ups we looked excellent. Bit of time and I can see a lot more goals. Obvious timing and placing issues with crosses but that will come. Ward prowse worked his socks off.

Bit of luck and we would hsve won that.
Very pleased. Now let's just get the right winger

And another center back. Yoshida did not look very good today (and I usually defend him), and I think we need more competition there to keep everyone at their best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama was immense in an overall strong team performance.

Two obvious areas for concern, though. Number one, a lack of pace in the side (although this was also a problem last season). A quick, quality winger can't come in soon enough.

Number two, Pelle. He's got all the mobility of a skip but half the use. Bit early to write him off, but there's a reason his career record in Italy is absolutely pitiful. I don't know how he's going to score goals if he can't actually beat anyone in the air because he sure as hell isn't beating anyone on the deck.

Still, a decent first outing for the side, and if Clyne wasn't so dozy in defence or Davis so complacent in front of goal, Saints could've come away with at least a point if not more.

Bit early to write pelle off. Tbf to him he didn't get a great deal of service. Tadic showed glimpses of how good he is however his corssing was off. If we could get some good service in the shape of a right winger or Pelle could be lethal. let's give him a bit of time to adjust and step up

Agree0 Disagree0

Pelle offers so much more than just goals. obviously you would like to see him get on the end of more crosses, but that issue comes from the balls in aswell.
his strength scares defenders though. at times both skertel and lovren were drawn in to wrestle with him and a simple lay off got us in behind. overall very promising.

Hate to say it but the reason we lost that game yesterday was the battle of the CB's. Lovren (hate this) was totally dominating whereas Yoshida is a tryer but just not up to this standard. If we had had a top class CB ( Ron Vlaar springs to mind immediately) there would not have been the space for Sterling or Sturridge to score the goals which let's face it were very soft.

Lovely to watch but again seem to missing the clinical edge we lacked last year. That said I'm so happy with the way we played in the second half, we had them rattled! Davies should have put us ahead and schneiderlin got unlucky.

Also where is Ramirez?

Maybe next time we spend £12m on a striker. It can be one who can put the ball into the back of an, all but, empty net. In all seriousness really good game. Wanyama was a tank, Bertrand was brilliant going forward linking up well with Tadic and Ward-Prowse dictated the second half. Would be nice to have a pacey winger on the right hand side to partner up with Clyne. Could still have a really strong competitive season.

Tadic ran it today, looks better than lallana. Pelle was quiet. Morgan should have had 2. Wanyama MOTM imo - there's no way Cork could have done what he done today. A lot to be positive about, on another day we'd have stuck 4 past them

Wanyama was tank. Unreal performance. Where did he learn to pass since last season? Hopefully see many more performances like that from him this season.

Hi guys

Just watched the game at anfield sorry to say it but pelle is not good enough and we are in desperate need for a quality striker if kooman' idea of a striker is pelle we are in deep sh-- the whole roumer site has been pleading for a quality striker the whole transfer window and what do we get shane long who has missed a sitter from 3 yards it was harder to miss than score and we paid 12.5 million for him who said kooman was any good he obviously has no idea when it comes to buying a striker

Absolute drivel. Pelle was admittedly off it to begin with on his first ever EPL game but as it went on he got into it more and more. How the hell can you judge someone on that basis as being poor!?!?!?!

Long didn't have a long time but still looked hungry. I thought both had positives and I will judge them AFTER they have had time to gel as a team

Agree0 Disagree0

There's going to be an adjustment period for foreign players. Pelle was off it in the first half but grew into the game more and more.

we paid 8 for long 12 after performance related bonuses, so if he does end up costing 12 i'll be happy. it's hard to put the ball in the back of the net when it comes at you that quickly especially when it's on your head

I think part of the problem with pelle was the service. Once they get to know each other I think it will be good. He really does like to be the target man doesn't he

To say after one performance that neither are worth it is pathetic

Very good first half. Apart from a moment of magic from Henderson we've been evenly matched. Wanyama's looked brilliant. Tadic and Bertrand look like they've played together all their life, need a bit of pace up front but it's looking decent so far

I think we have been excellent. Sky presenters think we have been excellent. Very unlucky not to have scored another 2. Very pleased with almost all of the players. Morgan had a few good shots but looked a bit off. Some v weak tackles. Big vic was excellent. We obviously like going up the left at the moment. Bertrand and tadic were fanstatic together. Pelle needs a bit of time but looked better as the game went on.
All in all very pleased. I expected a battering from the pool but far from it. We held our own very well and against a lower club we could have won that easily

Berahino just scored twice for WBA from the RW, a goal scoring winger could be perfect?

Yep, another player we missed out on would have been excellent signing

^ we can't miss out on a player if we were never in for them
