Interesting to note that the Hoover and Hooperman were at the same dinner party last night. (twitter)

No, frankly, it's not interesting. Why are we so fixated on buying a striker? Is that really where we need somebody? Look at the top scorers for the Championship! If Hooper is as good as some seem to think then why aren't Premiership clubs queuing up to sign him? Sure, he's scored some goals but look at the opposition - Dunfermline? Dundee? Inverness? Come on - get real! We can spend 6m on less risky ventures. First though, I'd like to see us get a decent young goalkeeper - imagine what would happen to our promotion push if Kelvin was out long-term. Next, I'd like to see us get another Chaplow to add steel to midfield and attack. And if we must spend money on a forward then try to get somebody of proven ability for that kind of money or a younger prospect for less. Leave Hooper at Celtic and keep the shining wits who keep popping up on here happy!

I've just had a horrible thought - what if we're preparing to sell Rickie Lambert? That might make this whole Gary Hooper thing and NA's comments about how well the team did without Rickie more understandable. God, I hope I'm tripping!

You are worrying about nothing... we don't have Ken Bates for a chairman.

True, but somebody's justed posted a rumour that Pardew's after him - help!

Jos hooiveld couldnt get a game at celtic against dunfermline , dundee (utd by the way) and inverness and looked what happened to him. clown

That's not true, he played twice against Inverness (Caledonian Thistle, by the way) in 2010 when you managed to grab 4 points but he was missing from the game the following May when you lost 3-2 in front of 6702 spectators. I see you've got them in a cup game soon - good luck with that, you've got quite an impressive record against them I understand. Can't quite figure out why you bought him in the first place if, as you say he couldn't get a game. Shrewd bit of business that! Still, we're happy with him and he's looking forward to playing in the Premiership later this year.

Don't think Hooiveld would travel all the way to Scotland for a meal

Hooiveld loved Glasgow and Celtic but was not good enough to play for a massive club. He has found his level at your small team. However, once a hoop, always a hoop. Merely meeting friends for a drink and a chat up.

- massive club? Just because only 2 teams in Scotland know what a football looks like, doesn't make them massive - Just goldfish in their little bowl.
Saints would stuff Celtic now, let alone when we reestablish ourselves back in the English Premiership. Your players are a stepping stone for clubs like ours, that's all. You'll never have a squad that could contend at the highest level and it's not even worth spending the money to do it as you only have 1 real rival in your pitiful domestic football league.

Stepping stone to southampton, you paid us £1.8 million for an injury prone donkey in hooiveld who couldnt get a game for celtic ahead of loovens, then theres danny fox who is so bad he made lee naylor look like roberto carlos
and for the comment southampton would beat us....aye very good our under 19 development team, would pump you every day of the week and twice on a sunday
I'll remind you gimps of this come may when youre still in the championship

Typical deluded Celtic fan. Angry little man, standing in the sad weather, singing to 500 opposition supporters, watching his massive club, in their sorry little league.

Sitting at your PC in gloomy Glasgow (or are you one of the glory hunting rats from afar,) Celtic at the pinnacle of your domestic league, scared of losing your wonderfully talented (in fact, average) players to clubs at English Championship level. Hilarious that you attack us... If Celtic were such a great club it would be the other way round! Get real, the Scottish league isn't a patch on the English league.

How many trophies have southampton won then?when did they last play in europe?whats their average home crowd?where is southampton?does anybody care?

You obviously do. And that's the point isn't it? We're not on your website making nasty remarks - most of us couldn't care less what's going on in Scottish football. So why don't you go back to your website like a good wee laddie and concentrate on the things you care about?

Ha ha ha - Successful in a league of 2 teams... that's the point. If saints were in the SPL, we'd piss all over you. Never said Celtic wasn't a big club, just that you are a big club with not-so-great players in a so-called league where there is only one other side that can compete. Your trophies are meaningless. Celtic, Rangers all the way with the odd other name... BORING!!! You qualify for the Champions League every year but don't come close to winning it, so you can't call yourselves successful. Southampton were last in Europe 2003/4. We have an average gate of about 29'000 fans FROM OUR OWN CITY. We are going back to the only Premier League in Britain worth mentioning and trophies or not, we would never wish for a second to swap places with Celtic.

Southampton is on the South coast where we have the sea, a modern city, a forest, lot's of affluent areas, great facilities and a great football club. We have much of the best weather in Britain. Glasgow - cold, wet, grimy city full of drunks, smack-heads and angry envious Celtic fans.

Oh well.maybe one day you might, with a bit of luck,be as big as portsmouth then.

Green with envy, presumably. Must come as a bit of a shock to contemplate a situation where the team at the top of the league could be overtaken by three others - lol

That's why you're so concerned and coming onto our website.
Accept it, better to be a player in a Championship contending or any side in the Premiership than it is to be in a supposedly strong side in a league of 2 teams. Granted, big club, but ridiculous league and you can't compete elsewhere.
