Does anyone think Christian Tello, would solve our need for a winger and a striker? He can play both positions, scores goals, has pace and has tonnes of potential at 21, he'd be perfect maybe 8m?
Not sure he'd be as easy to obtain as you make out. But he would be an incredible signing.

Oh fair enough you meant the price, I read in an article that he had an 8.5m release clause in his contract (read it after my post), so wouldn't be much more than I said, I think Liverpool are interested but it wouldn't be the first time we beat them to a signing, not sure if he'd want to join, that is the big question I guess
I may be wrong but I thought in Jan there were tons of rumours about him, and he rejected contracts as he wants to stay at Barcelona.

Have read that gaston could be of to inter Milan on news now, this would explain why he still isn't back in pre season training. Hope it's wrong.
He's not back due to playing much longer in the Confeds Cup. Come on mate, keep up!

According to tutto, inter have started talks with us about singing gaston Ramirez. I don't know how true this is but what are your opinions on this. Would you mind seeing him go?
I would want £20M for him. We could then replace him wth soeone of an equl or higher standard.
Hate to see such potential go. He could come good this season. Luckily I think it is nonsense because they are the same people who believed Osvaldo was to sign for us.
To be honest for the £12m I expected more from Ramirez - look at Courtinho at Livepool. If Gaston is a flop this year his market value will be a lot less.
Would I take £8m pofit in one year - yes I would.
But I hope he stays a Saint and rips up the league this season.

How much did it cost to buy out Gastons multi ownership? The assumption that he cost £12m is not correct.

Billy Sharp - Did a job for a while, he deserved more.
Mayuka - Jury is our, did he play last night?
Ramirez - Jury is still out and he's not joined up with the team yet.
When you look at the total cost its over £20m so it would be good if we got a bit of luck and our new signings hit the ground running.
Im not saying that we haven't signed some good players but we do need to improve our strike rate and I hope MoPo may be the one to change things around.

Forte was good enough for us in league 1, Lee was a shame because he got injured but showed he had so much potential. Not sure I'll ever forget his goal against Derby County.
Forren I agree was a mistake for whatever reason but sounds like we at least got most of the money back.
Sharp is a real shame, but he did us a good service when Lambert suffered his minor injury and was a big part of getting us promoted. Worth the money and hopefully will move on to a good club for a decent fee.
Mayuka has impressed me personally. He has blinding pace as he showed against Villa last season. Needs more of a chance though. Don't think he featured in our first friendly but he has potential and I'm sure could become a true asset.
As for Ramirez, you are right, Jury is still out and we can't make any real conclusion yet. Wait and see how he does this season.

Can't understand these comments. Saints were in danger of relegation at Christmas, had a poor record at CB and some injuries. Did you expect them to be able to attract some world class signing? Perhaps they should have gone for a QPR solution? (Throw money at a mercenary who will end up disrupting the rest of the squad. ) Forren was always going to be an emergency patching job. In the end, he wasn't needed to be utilised but if we had been relegated you would all be crying out about not signing a CB!

I hope that this is Mayuka's year and that he gets some games for Saints, there must have been at least 22 Saints players playing last night but not him - still very early days right enough but when did he last have a game?
I hope he plays in the fixtures ahead but if he still can't make the Saints team this year then loan him out - it did Lukaku a world of good to go and get some game time (at our expence) rather than warming the bench at Chelsea.
Ramirez has extra leave but possibly needs the pre-season with Saints more than most.
Forren was a mistake, we should've looked for a loan signing if it was only going to be cover to see us out over the season.

If Forren was "an emergency patching job" on a 3. 5year £3.5m contract then we have a bigger problem than I thought.

Forget all these names going around. NC and MP should try and get Cissie from Newcastle wants to leave and is a top class striker.
Cisse is good, but not amazing. We can do better and Newcastle don't really want him to go, do they?

He really isn't that great with the exception of a few wonder goals, there are far better strikers at a cheaper price who would want to come.

Got a feeling that we might be done and dusted this transfer window. Really hope not but last Jan we were all holding out for late transfers in and nothing materialised. Hope to be proved wrong though.
It's not even half way through yet and you are already talking late transfers? Give them a chance. We know they won't be finished yet because Pochettino wants more quality in the side and Lovren and Wanyama are not enough to take us to their ambitions despite how good they are.
I doubt pochettino would suggest we are interested in other transfers and let them fall by the wayside without replacements. That would lead to disappointment all round.
I've got a feeling he is keen on a striker and another midfielder as he has expressed interest in such players.
I expect 2-3 more to join us in the following couple of weeks. Definitely one striker then possibly another defender or midfielder.
CB, Winger and Striker and we should be done
