I'm a city fan but i've got to say that was the hardest game we've had at the etihad in the last couple of years. Thought it would be hard to begin with but you guys really shocked me, carry on like that and you should finish top half.
Jack MCFC

p.s: don't know why you didn't start lambert, was a right handful when he came on, the next Grant Holt!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Thanks always nice to hear praise and I don't know why we didn't either it's not like he's so fast you'd bring him on as an impact player but yes I hope we finish top half

Agree0 Disagree1

He didn't start for exactly that reason. So he could be a right handful when he came on. Lambert was going to be such an attacking force we wanted it against a slightly tired defence. I think it was tactical genius from Adkins to save him up. He came on at the right time. Thanks I was very impressed by our boys' performance today. Well done to you for coming back from 2-1 down though. (P.S. I hate dae ja vu!) :P

Agree5 Disagree0

That was the tactic, bring him on when we were controlling the game, so that he didnt have to chase your defenders, great game and our defence didn't look too bad compared to some of our pre season games but still need the needed cb or 2 and a left back as another fox error cost us a game but tbf never thought we be in the game come 90 minutes, great season ahead

Agree5 Disagree1

He's much better than Holt, but thanks.

Agree6 Disagree0

I see what you mean

I do feel Fonte stepped up his game today and performed very well at times, although i do think CB is still nedded. but i thought that today Danny Fox and Kelvin Davis did let us down a little, Davis i though was a little slow to react in goal, BUT.... overall it was a great performance and am pround to be a saint.

JustASaint

Believable4 Unbelievable2

It was Fonte and fox that made the mistake to set up their goals so I think they need replacing glad to see no hammond

Does anybody know anything more on Gaston Ramirez?? Is he joining?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

It could well still happen... It's a likely move at this point with the club and Southampton able to agree terms it seems and Ramirez eager to move.

Hi,Forest fan here . sorry to crash your site. just want to say what a brilliant display of football you put on today, unlucky with the result, good luck for the season!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Cheers mate.

Disappointed to get nothing from the match, but hopefully it shows we can hold our own in the prem.

JJ

Agree5 Disagree0

I disagree, we may not have got points but we were impressive. We saw just what we're capable of and I think that is something to take from it.

Agree3 Disagree0

Hey Forest fan, thanks for the support mate much obliged! =0)

Agree3 Disagree0

Thanks a lot, the first game and we've proved the doubters wrong already.

p.s you got a good left back in harding btw

Agree3 Disagree1

Pps. Gillett, Blackstock and McGoldrick ain't bad either and Arsenal thought we were their feeder club!
SaintGazza

Agree2 Disagree0

Have to disagree, Gillett is terrible, but McG and Blackstock are good. 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Ok, I'm going to give an opinion on the City game. I think we defended well for most of the match. Only thing is that Fonte made one or two poor clearances. Maybe slightly unlucky with the penalty but it was saved. We should have had a penalty for the Foul on Jay Rod but hey we looked very strong. I think that shows our attack is up to the challenge in the top flight. I think Fox was unlucky, wrong place wrong time for the goal by Nasri. I would like a new Centre back still and maybe a left back but I won't criticise Fox too much he did play well and got back really put in the effort. Just one error for him really so just unlucky.

Just a note. I think our attack is superb having seen that but lets just say Ramirez would be like icing on the cake.

What does everyone else think about it? Where do the rest of you think we need to make signings?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

I think our defence was solid. You give city 70%+ of possession and you are going to crack eventually, it's not the defenders fault - I'd rather see a bit more ball retention in midfield. I thought all their goals were scrappy rather than our defence being ripped apart. I was disappointed with our positioning for second ball, we were winning lots of first balls but city were mopping up on the edge of the area so we struggled to clear our lines and that led to a couple of the goals.

Offensively, other than showing some clinical finishing I was disappointed. Joe Hart had nothing to do. I would like to see a little more inventiveness going forward.

Having said that, I was pleased with the performance away to the best team in the league. I am sure we will only go from strength to strength. I don't think we urgently need any signings, although one or two would be good to strengthen the squad.

JJ

Agree3 Disagree0

First half wa sutter horse rubbish we where getting battered second half was superb started passing the ball around well and looked a lot more confident on the ball. first half i felt we looked very shakey

Agree0 Disagree4

Danny fox and fonte aren't up to the job

Great Buttner is going to ManUtd, missed out again.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

No he isn't. It's his agent trying to stir rumours up because he's stuck at Vitesse and they don't want him.

JJ

Agree2 Disagree5

If you were stirring rumours, why pick United?

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw that on Sky Sports news last night aswell - Butner going to Utd. Probably agent stirring for best deal.

pleasing performance by Saints. But I am furious that we are still having to field that total liability, Danny Fox. Out of position. Bad judgement. Costs us goals and at this level, a lot of points.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

He was good. The one error really in that match. Just a shame it was such a big error.

Agree1 Disagree2

How many games will he make just the one mistake? He cost us points last season. Now we must be tight and I always fancy the opposition to score when he plays, he's crap. Thing is, most of you Fox fans don't know enough about football to actually notice the poor positioning and sloppy ball retention, you only notice glaring errors.

Agree4 Disagree1

His positioning was good and he played a critical supporting role to Jay Rodriguez as he was needed to do so. He made several good challenges in the match. I'm not saying he's fully up to the job but he's no disaster story.

Why are we not bidding on Adam Johnson-Proven in the prem, England international, all round quality player= 10 mill. Matt Phillips-Unproven in Prem, only had 1 decent season in the championship= 6 mill......

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Huge wages. We already did try months ago.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hes going back to sunderland, sounds like he wants to stay in the north

Agree1 Disagree0

Doesn't seem to be confirmed his return he could still be headed anywhere.

Shirt numbers released, nobody assigned to 3 or 10, number 10 shirt being taken from Guly. Surely there is players lined up to fill these?! Assuming Ramirez would be given 10 and hopefully another CB to take the 3 shirt?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Numbers dont mean anything. van persie has 20 at man utd, he could have taken the number 9 from berbatov..
carragher 23 at liverpool, hazard 17 at chelsea, and there all players who are vital. so numbers mean nothing

Agree1 Disagree2

To the person above saying "numbers mean nothing" you are a moron.

Numbers do mean something in context. When pre-existing players have preference for the numbers 3 and 10 and are not allowed to have them, it means other players are planned to have them.

For instance... Guly Do Prado has been our number 10 for the past 2 seasons. He is in our starting line up but got relegated to number 21 this season. If he has preference to be number 10, why would we move him to number 21 unless there was someone else planned to be number 10?

Granted some players have different preferences for higher numbers and also sometimes don't get their first choice numbers when clubs allocate them, but if someone is denied a number it wouldn't be just to leave it un-used.

Is it just me or am I spotting a trend in out apparent transfers. Buttner fell out with manager over move and denied transfer, Phillips apparently 'tapped up' by saints handed in a transfer request which was denied according to the bbc, probably going to fall out wit the manager. Ramerez said he was close to moving manager hit out and has probably fallen out with him. It can't be a coincidence something has to be wrng on our side, cortese may not be a good businessmen when it comes to foootball

Believable0 Unbelievable6

The answer is simple. Player power. Nothing to do with us.

Agree2 Disagree0

I think they must share an agent. Each time Cortese or Adkins have not been accused. The Phillips illegal approach is an un-named club too so it could be another club we're not the only one in the world who wants him.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think you are just not used to being an 'attractive club' who are in the prem!

Players want to come to us now. That is all this shows. So they are prepared to hand in transfer requests and complain if their club doesn't let them move. Before we were the ones complaining when our players were poached. Now it's the other way round.

Ian Holloway has refused Matt Phillips his transfer request according to the BBC. Why is it I see an incoming argument between player and club yet again... *Sigh*
