Preparing a second bid for Townsend

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm, i'm not really sure about Townsend. Always seems to be injured and apart from a few decent performances I don't think he's all that. Would rather see one of Redmond, Belhanda or 'beep beep' Biabiny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not Redmond?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would definitely rather have Townsend than Redmond. He has shown he is a threat at this level, there is a reason he was in an around the England team while Redmond wasn't.

For me though biabiany is the pick of those we have been linked to.

i still think redmond at norwich would be better than
townsend
the less saints deal with spuds and poch the better

I agree - If Redmond is £6m like it's been branded in the media, then that would represent better value than Townsend IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed. Stay right away from Townsend and Spurs! Redmond should have been signed by now. Roko could turn him into an England man.

Certainly not impressed with Townsend. Injury prone and seems unable to play for the team. There must be better out there.

Assaidi or Weiss

Looks like the two Ronnies are going to be reunited. Saints could be laughing then with the 3-5-2 tactic available ad lib.
The Spiderman saga continues, is his loyal u-turn an attempt to increase his value? will we trade him for Townsend plus cash? Mopo and Roko wearing serious poker faces, I'd take Lennon and too and call it quits! #COYR

Spider not for sale! And we don't want any Spud crocks!!

If the signings so far are an indication of whether Koeman knows what he's doing, then if he thinks Townsend is the right player I'll go along with him on that one. Exciting season coming up and I think we are going to be quite impressed with our new side. Don't forget ( which some of you have I think ) we have JRod to come back soon. The players we have bought have improved us and Tadic looks very impressive.

You keep on about Redmond but he scored one goal last season unfortunately against us. Forget about Poch etc. that is now history and we are looking to the future. Townsend is a quality player that would have played more for England if he wasn't so injury prone. Same sort of player as Theo Walcott so the question is do we want a top player playing half a season due to injury or a pretty good player most of the season. The jury's out on this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

If a player is known to be injury prown. forget it and move on. we do not need sick notes!

Agree0 Disagree0

Long is a bad buy.
Bertrand and Taider are loans.
Forster is a glaring obvious downgrade on Boruc.
Tadic is nowhere near Lallana's almost worldclass level.
Pelle is no Lambert and Gardos is not half the player Lovren is on a bad day. Townsend is just overrated crap!

Agee mate we've had every manager under the sun try to take every player we have and are told "its football" and that we are "victims of our own success". well maybe vlaars a victim too

also heard a certain dutch manager at man utd
iis looking at signing vlaar
if that is the case
lambert will be having a right wobbly

Agree0 Disagree0

No when a big club comes asking about a player that's just football so its perfectly acceptable

Agree0 Disagree0

Just thought I would say how pathetic Paul Lambert sounds. he knows he will go down this year, even quicker if he sells his best defender, welcome to the real world!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Vlaar is nothing. Sign Coates from Liverphampton for £ 3 million, they bought him for 7 million 3 years ago, a couple of seasons with Fonte and we can sell him for £ 15 million! Profit profit profits

WOW, what a start to the season, many questions answered for me on that field! Even with a narrow loss to liverhampton, I can't keep the grin off my face. We were good, very good at times, the soccer pundits in Canada wanted to blab about Liverpool's accomplishments but had to recognise what a good performance we put in and how unlucky we were not to come away with points. They echoed many people's fears (too many on this site) about a team that had been decimated of it's most talented players and coach, and feared how they would fare in the coming season, but they saw what we all saw. A team that is continuing on our path of playing good attacking football with a new group of talented players to go with the already solid group.
I have been very optimistic of our direction since the appointment of Roko, and tried to encourage the pessimistic on here that we will be ok, we are still heading in the right direction, lots of drama to come! but with a good new coach and new players fitting in we can only improve as we gel and new players get used to the PL.
I have seen the future, we all have, I just didn't understand the importance of this young man. JWP is the new Mr. Saint, the one that will lead our new generation of academy products into the light of the poaching CL clubs. If he can fulfill his potential, continue his progression into the English national team then he will be the next to be tempted away. JWP must be given time to mature, he doesn't have the luxury of honing his skills in the lower divisions like lalla, spidy, clyne. Etc. he will have to prove himself against the world class players. Tough task, but his academy coaches, English Intl. youth managers, Mopo and Roko have seen enough to put this boy in the starting 11. I have to trust their judgment, the fans need to get behind him and support him because he could be the leader of our next golden generation. We have heard good things about our academy products, many on the verge of first team football, if this is the case (our academy has been right to far) then they must be good, very good but are still very young! Most good footballers are maturing into their skill in their early 20's, that leaves a few years for our academy products to ripen into the type of players that are confident in their game.
