{Ed022's Note - Hi all. I just wanted to notify you all that there has been a pretty hefty update to the Player Profiles website. This update now allows you, the fans, to upload your own profiles on any player, in any league, in any position. So, now rather than seeing just my own opinion on a player, you can now see other fans' opinions also on those players, as well as dropping a comment and giving your own. Not a bad shopping list. Realistic and I would be happy with most of them.
Not sure on Fontaine though? With all the young, championship players we are signing I would like a couple more experienced heads in there. Dann and maybe Curtis Davies. Don't know much about Fontaine, but from what I have seen he isn't outstanding and I wouldn't want to put our first season back in the prem in his hands.
Gazzanigga is a hot prospect but as second choice in the prem? Would like to see a short contract with an older keeper just for a year or two while we break Gazzanigga into the starting XI.
Having said that, wouldn't have too many complaints if we did bring in all of the above, trust NA/NC to get in the right lads.

Well the first four spot on...not so sure on Buttner...would love to see Lens sign for us but would prefer a different set of centre-backs.

So The lens rumours if floationg around atm and i personally think this could be one of the signings of the season if it were to happpen. This chap can play across all front positions, behind the striker, out wide and can even be deployed as an attracking full back. though due to the signing of clyne (clyde) this would not be considered. he is still young with bags of pace and has great skill on the ball so fits with our style of play very well. he has also broken into the dutch national squad. All i can say is sign him up nigel! this guy is god enough for a top 6 side easily.

Southampton are going to be the next Barcelona/Bayern Munich!..........NC was rumoured to say he believes the only way England will compete for trophies on the world stage is to have an English premier team (Southampton) with at least 7+ palyers on the national squad. Only then can we have a national team that has players who train and play together everyday (like Barca & BM). We know prem league staus was our goal in 5 years (which we achieved ahead of time) but our 'secret' 5 year adgenda was to build the best young ENGLISH stars that will be ready in 5 years to take on Europe and the rest of the world. We have the best youth academy in England to find that talent! the ones we do not grow , we will try to buy! We now have 5 of the Championship Team of the Year (all English), and the rumored transfer targets fits this idea. Butland, Matty Phillips, Zaha and Lewis Dunk. This is the future of Southampton and the future of England! go saints go, march on boyos!

Curtis Davies has been linked with us too (albeit loosely), he was in championship team of the year.
Think we definitely need to sign a bit of experience soon though and stop snapping up championship talent.

Been hearing rumours that we are interested in jermain Lens according to sky sports from PSV he's a striker with 4 holland caps and 19 goals in 2 seasons for PSV would probably cost around £4-6m but I don't think we need another striker. Thoughts?

It's not a question of him being a striker - he plays as a winger, on both flanks, and can sit behind the striker. Seeing as we've played 4-2-3-1 a couple of times this preseason, it could be a great option to have!

Looks like we will be signing a young no-name European keeper and Centre back as both have been kept under the radar.
Buttner deal has gone quiet so have a bad feeling about it.
Don't think we will be in the window for a pacey right mid. Punch has been doing ok pre-season so think we will give him a chance until January. Not to mention we still have de Ridder. Don't think we need 3 right wingers just yet until we release a player. Maybe use Punch in a swap deal, bring in Zaha?

Here's a thought we have now got 5 of the 11 players named in the championship team of the year....perhaps a pattern going on here possibly a move for Matt Phillips or Curtis Davies yet to come?

May go to tribunal anything betwen £1.5 and £2.5 million is quoted, we may find out one day.

Saints want £1.5million, Palace were initially after £3.5million. Wouldn't be surprised if we split the difference and go £2.5million, still a bargain for Saints and Palace won't get much more than that if it goes to tribunal.

Sticking with future English internationals set up we have got going - I reckon its Butland or steele (Jason not Luke), maybe this young Gillingham lad that has been passed about but I fancy that one is a stretch?
