According to many newspapers and websites, southampton are preparing to make a £5 million bid for Scott Sinclair as Scott has said he wants a permanent move away from Manchester city after a very bad spell there. With puncheon going on loan, it looks like Scott will be our likely replacement and odds of us signing have significantly dropped in the past few hours. We are now 4/1 to sign him. What do you guys think about this?

Sorry, Not a rumour but you guys seem to know what your on about. reg oxlaide chamberlin at arsenal - is it true (read in the mail today) that every time he plays more than 20 mins for arsenal they have to pay us 10k? Ed? ( you can't believe everything you read but this just seems mad. or genius) {Ed002's Note - I don't know the details of his contract.}
This may well have been I ha contact however I do honk it would only have been for a Eason or two so I would expect it to expire
It's only 10k.

For all those Sharp haters out there I need to remind you of a facts:
Lambert over his career scores once every 2. 55 games
Jrod once every 3. 78 games
Guly once every 4. 69 games
Osvaldo once every 2. 83 games
Bear in mind that Guly made 21 apps last season I think it's harsh to keep Sharp away from the team for much longer. I understand it is had to compare him to osvaldo as he has been at a very high level for a long time.
BRING BACK BILLY
I don't think we have Sharp haters, I think we just have plenty of people who have accepted he won't come back due to whatever issue he had with Cortese. I think his Saints career is as good as over.
This is a joke - right?
Thought so
There are no sharp haters! I'd like him to be given a chance but it will never happen as we're looking to sell as he's probs 5th in the pecking order
Nice bloke. good scoring record but not top end prem standard. doesn't mean I hate him. Think you need to sit back and take the emotion out of the decisions MP makes.

With Punch looking like he's on his way on a years loan, Lamela flying in to London (ok, I guess its to chat with Spurs!) but does set the optimism off. It would give Osvaldo someone to ouch again. Can't wait to see his machine gun celebration.
I think it is safe to say that with Osvaldo joining us, Lamela won't be. I just hope if he does join Spurs he doesn't get into a scrap with Osvaldo when they play us.
When will people understand that Osvaldo and Lamela has NO problem what so ever with each other?
The incident which was reported in very exaggeriated versions happened over 20 months ago, that´s almost two years!
They have played together all that time until now when Osvaldo left for Saints.
With that said, Lamela won't sign for Saints, and will probably stay at Roma for another year.

Read a terrible article today which was supposedly trying to highlight the success saints and norwich have had in the transfer market compared to united and arsenal. With the following quotes, does anyone else find it hard to believe how people view 2 of the top 20 footballing clubs in England.
'A depth of riches that has seen the likes of little Southampton and Norwich City outpunch United and Arsenal in this summer's market'.
'Last season Southampton completed a stunning coup by acquiring Gaston Ramirez, the Uruguay winger who had been expected to join Liverpool, Juventus or one of the Milan clubs. Just over 12 months previously, they were in the process of winning promotion from League One.
And this summer, with Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout, they have raised the bar even higher, bringing in Italy forward Pablo Osvaldo from Roma, and swooping for Celtic's dominant midfielder Victor Wanyama, a player who bossed Barcelona in last season's Champions League and surely has the talent and physique to play for one of Europe's top clubs.
How are little, provincial Southampton and Norwich able to flex such impressive muscle in the transfer market'?
And decisiveness is key for the likes of Norwich and Southampton.
'Did you hear endless rumours surrounding the signings of Van Wolfswinkel, Osvaldo and Ramirez? No. They just happened. Everyone in the industry was shocked, from journalists and pundits to some of their team-mates. The opportunity arose, and it was taken.
You want £15m for your combustible Latin forward with a fine goalscoring record in Italy? Fine, take it. You need £12.5m for a muscle-bound African midfielder who has mixed it with Europe's very best in the Champions League? Cheque's in the post'.
What c**p! Is it just me who finds this garbage?
Aussie saint II
How is van wolfswinkel in the same sentence as osvaldo
Well. Fancy that? Somebody talking rubbish about the unfashionable teams. Let them whinge & gripe - like we care. Can't wait to see their shock when we take down the big established teams! Nothing lasts for ever.
I'm sorry but there was pages of Wanyama and Obsvaldo rumours before they signed! Lovren was quieter though and Gaston also went on for ever!

I'm seeing a lot about Scott Sinclair, we do need another winger IMO, it would be a good way to complete the squad, maybe a loan deal with a view to permanent, his pace is exactly what we need, COYR!
This could explain the Puncheon move (if true) if Sinclair is on his way here.
20 Aug 2013 15:09:34
Lol just read that west ham and reading are thinking of signing lambert because we now have osvaldo. Yeah ok sure lol
Ricky is a better all round player
than carroll
so I don t think west ham will pay
more for ricky
if carroll is on 100grand a week
ricky would want more than that as
he is a better player
so really not going to happen

Seeing as the Sunderland fan thought he could post on our banter page saying they were going to beat us Saturday, I've put something straight back on their rumour page! Saints are going to be a real force this season n if teams like Sunderland underestimate us they will be humiliated COYR!
Saint Morf
Oh dear, anyone else fearing an annoying series of tit for tat exchanges now?
20 Aug 2013 12:38:12
What was Scotty Sinclairs Shirt Number at Man City. 11. Just saying.
COYR's!
Stop trying to make sinclair happen, it's not going to happen.
Here in the educated South we tend to say, turn YOU over not you`s. Just saying.
20 Aug 2013 10:37:12
sunderland fan here I can't wait untill we turn yous over
Like you did Fulham?
It's fair to say all of Southampton is looking forward to the game!
You lot couldn't turn over pancakes, relegation for the makems! You heard that here 1st! Lee
We will beat you
Keep dreaming son. To many signings. You have gone down the QPR route and I would not be suprised if you followed them through the trap door
Good one!
You couldn't beat an egg!and if Osvaldo hits the ground running you could be wearing sed' egg! All over your face!! Av'it?
You signed quantity over quality and you'll feel that this season. Done a Newcastle/QPR. Giaccherini is the only decent player of the lot. I reckon 3-1 saint's.
Oh bless the lad from Sunderland.
Your players are praying for a win so that Di Canio doesn't issue the whole team detention and lines.
At least QPR signed good players! Just far to many, I think Altidore and Giacherini are good, otherwise I've genuinly never heard of the others and judging by the Fulham match there's a reason for that.
When saints beat sunderland on
saturday
the best bit will be watching di canio
throwing a wobbly on the touchline
throwing his arms and legs up in the air
That has to be joke of the year ha sunderland are awful this year and with our signings easy 3-1 saints
You can't wait for that?
Does not bode well since you are in for a LONG wait mate.
Says more about your knowledge of football than the quality of the signings that you have heard of none of the rest of them.

Bit late, but did anyone see the U21's last Friday? Omar Rowe was great as usual but the CB Jordan Turnbull had a great game! He's only 18, but I'd get him into the first team set up asap!
Mini-Saint
Yes, I was at the game. Jordan started off a little ropy but he grew into the game, bringing the ball out from the defense. I think he's got a little way to go, but both Jordan and Jack Stephens are very highly rated for the future.
Jack Stephens won't be nothing special

Is it significant that we have left #11 free?. discuss!
