Can't believe this to be true as we all well know we NEED a GK as we have no one to back up Davies and NA said he would be looking to bring in a full back & center back, so thats 3 already!!

Guthrie looks like he will go to Villa which is extremely annoying as he would be perfect for th saints. We need to look at alternatives like Butterfield, Shea ans so on.

Any ideas floating about?

Much rather have Butterfield than Guthrie. Guthrie is ok, not really going to improve us at all. At least someone like Butterfield gets goals.

Butterfield played for Barnsley who came 21st in the championship and Guthrie played for Newcastle who came 5th in the Premier League, does that not give you a clue on who is the better player? Guthrie is quality {Ed037's Note - One player does not make a team, look at Scott Parker and Demba Ba for example, West Ham got relegated, yet now Parker is playing for England and Ba was amazing last season for Newcastle}

Yes people are going to slam me for suggesting such a thing because he'd be coming from a "much bigger club playing in Europe" and because "his wage demands would not fit NC's policy..." but I'll say it anyway:

Mathieu Flamini has just been released from AC Milan on a Bosman Free, maybe worth a look at him? NC has the links in Italy to work something if he really wanted to. If the wages were right for us and he was willing to come, why not?! Proved prem player - for free.

Same goes for Seedorf (Correct me if he is retiring) But he is a free but his wages are probably not what we will be willing to pay. Going from AC Milan to Southampton is a big step down. (Saints Fan)

I do not agree that any top Italian team is much better than playing for any side in the Premier League. Only a top Spanish side or money would more appealing. Saints are going places, we're not in the Prem just to go back down.
