Hoobloodyray! Koeman said: "I hate always players, and it's in general, not to criticise one of the defenders or Maya who did that mistake, I hate players who play always the ball back to the goalkeeper. Play the ball in the space in front.

How on earth can you convince anybody that a left footed centre back can be a right full back . Defies any sense at all , we were completely on top of them and all of a sudden we just gave them the midfield . I think RK got the tactics dead wrong from about half an hour in until about 15 minutes to go , very strange , I thought Pelle was brilliant for most of the game .

Yoshida is right footed though 😉

I wouldn't say Koeman got the tactics wrong, it's more that Utd woke up after half an hour and started playing like they should and we failed to up our game to match. That coupled from mistakes from Fonte and van Djik as well as Yoshida and horrendously bad linemanship (c'mon Stevie Wonder could see that was offside) is what screwed us over and took whatever fight the team had away

He seems to have lost all confidence in Cedric though.

I think it was more that he'd rather have someone who focused more on their defensive duty rather than Cedric who's pretty much a full blown attacking full back. Back fired a bit with the back pass but I can't remember their players getting in down that side all that much.

If I was in charge I would've sacrificed either Romeu or Wanyama, gone with 3 CB's and had Cedric and Targett a bit further forward

Didn't Targett come off injured though?
I do agree that taking Romeu off left a big hole in midfield which they exploited.
Hopefully it'll be welcome back Bertrand tonight

Bertrand played on Mondaywith the U21s so it's unlikely he'll feature tonight as well.

He is on the bench. Maybe a 20 minute run out.
Strong line up too which is good.

Since he only featured in the last 25 minutes it could indicate he'll start on Saturday, although I have to say it comes at the point where Targett has just started to find his feet. Still Bertrand will add more to our attack and keep things on the left flank of defence under control.

That was a tough loss yesterday, we could of had it wrapped up were it not for the post and some top saves by De Gea. It did dawn in me after the game how contrasting our goalkeepers are, De Gea can make the difference between a win, a loss and a draw for United. Whereas Stekelenberg has yet to show that trait for us this season but Forster did.

It seemed like our defence needlessly invited pressure on themselves in the lead up to their equaliser. Pelle could have given the foul away, in fact there was a real trend of ifs and buts in this match.

The underhit pass from Yoshida was a real thing of beauty, that should tell Koeman why Yoshi is better as cover for centre back and not as a full back. The third goal was luck on United's part as the goalpost returned it to Mata's feet who made no mistake. But again our defence was not alert enough.

We're sixty minutes on and Pelle scores his second, why did it take that long for the players to react? Our defence was poor but so was theirs, we need to find a more clinical touch in attack whilst also sorting out the back line. The return of Bertrand will be much appreciated, but right back is still a big issue it would seem. And hate to say it but Fonte isn't playing at the same standard as we all know he can.

The difference between the goalkeepers is about 40 million pounds , having said all that we gifted United 2 of the goals and I know I am going to be shafted over this comment but Van Dijk was found out big time , he can't stay with his player and stays off him which caused the problem for the two of the goals.

Completely agree with the van Djik comment, noticed it last week as well as this week, if the balls dropping anywhere between him and Fonte he'll let it bounce rather than clearing it straight away. He's let players in twice doing that so far, got away with it last week when Stek pulled out a great save but this week after Fonte missed a header and he allowed the ball to bounce Martial was quick enough to get there and score

Its possibly because they're a new partnership but it's something that needs to be fixed soon

The first 30 minutes Saints were excellent and were unlucky not to be 2-0 up, then for some reason we lost our way and allowed them(Man Utd)to come onto us.
We didn't deserve a win but should have taken something from the game.

Yoshida's error was horrendous and Van Dijk looks unfit and not PL ready, having played in the SPL it will take time for him to adjust.

Good win however in the Capital One Cup gaining a home draw thanks to Le Tiss and still early days in the league, though I'd settle for top ten right now.

Your comments just re-emphasise to me that RK played the wrong tactics against United , he should have played Soares . The MU defence was struggling when we were pressing and giving them no space , I am still mystified why we stood off them from 30 minutes in ( and this was not MU improving causing it )and then he took Romeu off . Very puzzling .
