Katherinas billions buy better and smarter advisors than we are ourselves. His experience is in ice hockey yes but I don't believe he will be picking the team or formation or sorting any of the football side of things as said. As ed said, it does no harm.

And I believe Hans liebherr started the family business so by that reckoning Marcus is no good either. But I respect your opinion just do not agree. She's knows what she is doing and as mopo says, she will have people around her who knows football, better than fans do.

IMO I can see Chelsea putting in a £30+mil bid for shaw if they off load Mata to Utd for the 40m that's been doing the rounds!
But if this happened and I mean (IF!)
I'm of the thinking a player swap would be a good deal for both sides with lukaku & Ryan Bertrand coming are way! Bringing matt targget in to play head to head with Bertrand to compete for starting 11?
Thought's
Gaz.

We won't be selling Shaw, no team in their right mind sells a key player half way through the season. In the summer a deal with Lukaku and Bertrand coming our way would be just about acceptable in my view, but only if we got both and didn't have to pay a penny extra.

Frankly though, I would still prefer to keep Shaw and just not get either of them. Our young squad will grow in seasons to come and it could become a European club if we stick with this squad. I'd rather sign more players without losing the key ones and Leibherr does not seem to actually be desperate to tighten the belt. She seems to be happy to allow Poch to do as he pleases.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But it makes me laugh personally when people think they know better than a billionaire with all the advisors they want at their disposal. Also, as people do not even read up on what they are discussion such as in regard to kreuger. He is a leading man with regards to mentality in team sports. Last I heard, football was a team sport and he doesn't want to be involved in day to day running. He is much sought after.

ed 01 I enjoyed your last reply. So what is your feeling on this matter? Thanks again eds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know much about the guy, it does seem a bit of an odd choice, but I am sure she must know him very well, and what he can do, for her to make the decision to bring him in. Most clubs do employ these kind of people, it is just that they are not normally as high profile. With him not coaching or managing, I can't see that he can do too much harm, at worst.}

A billionaires daughter lest we forget or did you not research who earnt the money in that family? Everything I have read indicates his only expertise is within the field of ice hockey. He has no experience outside of that very specific area. so do your research yourself before criticising others bud.

I thought the interim CEO was someone who had been promoted from within? (Have I got this completely wrong ed?)

So what does everyone think of the possibility of an Ice Hockey coach being appointed at SFC, he has been heavily linked with the club and not as an Executive I may add. His names Ralph Krueger he is highly rated in his field but WTF has that got to do with being appointed as part of the coaching team at Saints?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he's a friend of KL and from what I understand he won't be coaching, he'll just be there to advise KL on the club. But i'm thinking the same, if you want someone to advise on a football club, why bring in someone from ice hockey?! and if it is just a friend advising her on the running of the club, why are they on the payroll?

Agree0 Disagree0

He is an expert on creating the mentality required to form and maintain high performing sports teams.
This is nothing new to Saints if you look at our pre-season video, we are into this already, just a step up.

Agree0 Disagree0

An expert in ice hockey, I see no relevance or diversion in his abilities where he has successful'y transferred his talents into other sports. Please let me know if he has. can't see Poch being overly keen on someone trying to tell him how to suck eggs. This sort of thing rarely works in team sports as we well know from our previous experience with Sir Clive.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you wouldn't employ a highly qualified and experienced sports physio to work within a football team because he has spent his career working with rugby players - for example?

Building a good team spirit, improving communication, developing trust in each others is not straightforward, however I see no reason why someone skilled in those areas would not be able to transfer those abilities from one sport to another, although there will be differences in approach I'm sure. If we were asking him to advise on tactics on the pitch, then that would be the time to be worried.

Agree0 Disagree0

Krueger by the sounds of it is a sports psychologist and it works if players want it to work. Strangely since Poch arrived they have been playing what I call a 1/2 man forecheck and then pressing/taking away the passing options. This all looks new and refreshing and everybody loves the way saints are playing. Old hat hockey system. Sorry, ice hockey for those that watch field hockey.

If we do not replace lovern and gaston? in the transfer market we could see us start to free fall even though I think we will stay up now! but we need to at least bring in cover for lovern as are back up defence falls way short? if not are season is well and truly over!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do we know KL is prepared to fund more transfers? Don't think she has said so.
If she is prepared, will world class players be interested in joining a club which could be sold within a few months?

That is not me being negative but I believe that is the reality of the situation. Public Relations statements are all very nice but we still await to see what the new management of the club will deliver.

If Rickie goes (and it was Cortese who was in negotiations with WHU) then we need to buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Right now you will have to settle for the fact that she is not selling anyone that the manager wants to keep and be thankful for that.

Cortese resigned his post back in October and chose himself to quit in the middle of the transfer window.

KL actions so far have given me no reason to believe that the club will be sold in the next few months and as the directors are appointed I think it will become clearer that she has longterm plans for our club.
If she was wanting to sell the club she has had ample time to do it by now as it is years since her father died, she has our best interests at heart and we are in good hands.
Calm down. relax

This season is over for saints anyway, going to finish 9th!
I guess for next 4 -6 weeks they´ll give yoshida a try, before signing a new cb in the summer. Could even give Turnbull or Stephens the odd run out, but can´t see the point in playing Hooiveld (own goal machine).
As far as I´m concerned we should have sold lambert (7 mill for a 32 year old?) but I guess we won´t now as KL wants to keep fans on board and everyone happy. Would have been a bit short with no Lambert or Ramirez, but like I say season is over, could be an opportunity for Gallagher, Ward-Prowse, etc.
Excited to see what happens next summer, who do we sign, who is the manager, I reckon we need to spend 45 mill ish on 4 players to have a great squad. But of course Shaw may leave then we should sign 5 or 6 new players. Lallana for England!

Agree0 Disagree0

Finishing 9th is progress. We lost two International players in as many minutes at Sunderland. Ramirez is easier to cover for than Dejan Lovren. He has been outstanding for Saints. Maybe our best centre back since Mark Wright. Whoever plays in his place will have big boots to fill. It would be expensive to buy a quality centre half right now but there is a World Cup just around the corner and prices for top players only rise after such a tournament. To me, it would make sense to buy a quality centre half. I'm not anti Yoshida or Hooiveld. They just don't measure up. They are not good enough for European football, which is apparently where Southampton want to be. Get fit quick Dejan Lovren.

Agree0 Disagree0

In many ways I do agree with he above. After a couple more wins (40 points and all that) it would be great to see the likes of Targett, Gallagher, Rowe, Stephens, Reed and Isgrove given an extended run. Selling SRL would be incredible financial business but he is worth much more to the team than money. The club needs stability until the end of the season - with may be, just may be a run to the cup final starting with Saturday. COYR.

Agree0 Disagree0

They're not good enough for europe, no. but they're good enough for a team sat 9th in the prem. We probably have the best back up CB's outside of the top 6, we aren't going to have 3 quality CB's, we don't have European football to offer them and we cannot rotate CB's when we're in need of a settled defence and all defenders of Lovren's quality are going to be looking to get in WC squads, not sit on the bench for a mid table prem team

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the above - let's go for the FA Cup!

Agree0 Disagree0

If Mata goes to united what are the chances of us getting Kagawa or Zaha, to replace Ramirez? Zaha loan with a view to a permanent deal if he does well?

Agree0 Disagree0

Zaha is terrible, I don't know why people rate him so highly, people moan about Ramirez losing the ball alot, but Zaha would lose it 10 times for every time Ramirez would

Agree0 Disagree0

'If Mata goes to Utd' why not go for Mata ourselves? Based on this season and the potential for next season we're probably about as attractive a proposition for him and it's not like we haven't got the money

Agree0 Disagree0

You're very ignorant if you think there is event the slightest chance Mata would come to us over United

Agree0 Disagree0

How is that ignorant? Utd probably won't qualify for europe this season through the prem and they'll probably only finish a place or two higher in the league. We in all honestly have as good a chance to win the fa cup and qualify for europe as utd do. we could, potentially offer him more for next season than utd can. the only difference would be wages, whether we are prepared to match his demands or not

Agree0 Disagree0

Wages, huge stadium, most successful team in the country, Still in Champions League this season (and for the last 20 seasons). You really needs to take your rose tinted spectacles off and get real mate

Ok, this post is very much with rose tinted glasses on but there is so much negativity around we have to look at the positives.
When Cortese sacked Adkins and put Poch in place the majority of fans (including me) couldn't understand the reasoning and thought it strange and bad for the club.
Now, one tier higher on the chain of command, our owner has effectively pushed out Cortese (yes he resigned but he wouldn't have done so if he was in total agreement of the owners decisions)
Yes he has done a great job at the the club, but didn't Adkins before he was pushed.
The owners want a full board to make decisions rather then leave that on one pair of shoulders. He has made mistakes, bought in some expensive non-producers and missed out on some transfer targets. (this is my opinion, just my opinion).
Granted he, like Adkins did fantastically well in getting us back to the Prem plus he has also done very well in bringing in a few excellent signings recently plus securing some of our youngsters on long term deals. (sounds a bit like I am contradicting myself with the new signings but 50% have been good and 50% poor)
But you have to remember he isn't an experienced Football exec. He was in Finance as little as 4 years ago.
Maybe the owners want a full board to minimise any mistakes and get more experienced heads making the decisions?
She has come out and said she wants to still take the club forward, and no players will be sold in this window.
So for my mind let's just sit this one out, keep looking forward and support her, the club and the team 100%.
