Love the way some fans are saying to blow a load of extra money on players just so we get them quicker. Did you lot learn nothing from 2009?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree we don't need to panic buy just for the sake of getting players in, yes it's better to get business done early but I'd rather wait longer to get better suited players

Ermm, that's called business is'nt it? Offering a lower number than the reported asking price, then pushing on from there. Seems logical to me.

Logic doesn't come into it mate. The idea is that you chuck all your pocket money at the tuck shop, and then you go and ask Mum for more to last you the next 6 days!

Bring back Michael Gove-quick.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, I agree - That is called business, but the angle I was pointing out was that Celtic have labelled the bid as derisory - meaning it was sooo low that they were offended by it. I'm not sure about you, but i'm definitely not a football manager, but even so I think I've got a fairly good grasp of player values (having watched SSN constantly over the years!) Just frustrates me that we try the cheeky approach and risk aggravating the club we're trying to do business with. Meaning everything gets strung out and with our luck another club will gazump.

Agree0 Disagree0

In negotiations, you do tend to offer below value but you have to do it without going so low that the other party feels you are taking the piss to force them much lower as then they'll be less likely to bend in your favour.

Agree0 Disagree0

The same situation or so we're infomed happened with Pelle. A low bid, then a stand off, then both parties agreed a fee. maybe this will be the same. Or it could all be a ploy to put pressure on Cardiff for Marshall. Who knows eh. good fun soeculating though.

Celtic labelled the bid as derisory?
What do you expect them to say, "another fiver should do it".

Why not just accept the club knows what it is doing, rather than swallowing every comment from the media and other clubs?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with anewhope I think they really want Marshall and I think they are right. Best keeper by far that I saw last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

^ it's easy to look like a great 'keeper if you're faced with 20 odd shots per game though

Agree0 Disagree0

Said it before 780 shots on goal and saved over 700 of them makes Marshall the greatest goalkeeper ever if your stats are to be believed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Also means he let in 80 chrisdownj.

No doubt about it, Marshall kept Cardiff in the game at St Mary's to allow them to get the win in a poor game.

Forester would be in the eye line of Roy Hodgeson in our team which will make him play well if he wants to move Joe Tart from the England no1.

Let's remember Roy has a season ticket and has renewed so he can watch the next batch

I'm getting really frustrated at the boards approach of starting negotiations low and trying to buy on a budget. I know we have manage what we spend and get the best deal possible but please - While we start negotiations at 75p + a mars bar! Another club comes in and bids £7m and the medical and contract are complete before you can say 'Where did I put Dejan's Lovren's Transfer Request'!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree absolute joke, we all know what certain players are worth, forster is worth 7.5m so to f. around and draw attention to his possible exit from celtic alerts team like arsenal who could do with a very good keeper, I would rather him than marshall so just get the deal done, I think the board have no idea and out of there depth, with all the players leaving (boards at fault again) it doesn't send out a great message to potential transfers hence why I think we're struggling for new faces and are simply relying on roko's contacts and previous players, we will now only be a stepping stone to keep players in shop window, we will not have a consistent team over 2-3 seasons and as for les reed don't get me started massively out of his depth and full of s. t

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree look at qpr center backs I know one is getting on a bit but still quality and caulker good player if you take the fact spider and lovren will probably be going that takes selling to over 100 million pounds and does not includ season tickets sky and commercial sells no team in europe could lose so many players and expect to do well take messi neymar ineista and alves out of barcelona would they win the league doubt it but they would try and get very good replacements it seems our board are trying to get good options not paying the price and losing out the money is there give the fans something to smile about

We need to get signing fast, rojo, guidetti, caulker, Marshall, kolo and clasie. That's 6 players but none of them have had offers accepted that we can be certain of, some of them will also look for high paid contracts too which may end the talks altogether, two more cb's, a keeper and shaws replacement, then we can start the bpl with a bit less stress on us than before.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We don't need clasie as we have enough CM's, Rojo can cover CB as well as LB so no need for to other CB's, don't need Kolo too as we have Taggart at LB too, but then may need another winger like Redmond or someone but that depends on if Isgrove, McQueen and co are ready or not

Heard last night that Southampton are in for John Guidetti (sorry if spelt wrong) from Manchester City. What would you guys make of him if we were to sign him? Can't say I've seen much of him, but can say that I've heard good comments about the player.

Anyone also heard of any transfer rumours recently? Or who would you like to see that you think is a realistic target?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

6 substitute appearances for Stoke last year (no goals).

Regardless of what I think, Mark Hughes didn't think he was better than Peter Crouch or Jonathan Walters.

What a ringing endorsement.

Apparently Celtic rejected our offer for Forster and described it as derisory, and have said that it was a lot lower than the reported £7.5m banded around in the press. I'm not sure about anyone else, but this tactic of starting low with bids is taking too long and just sticks of inexperience from the new board!

Seems that chelsea interested in lovren aswell now. If he's got to go then i'd prefer anyone to liverpool just so the little rat don't get his own way

Yes rojo and de vrij would be excellent signings, not so sure about caulker thoe, went missing at the back for Cardiff too many times last season

Koeman has stated that there has been no recent bids for lovren, and if it remains that way he will continue to play for the club

Papers are suggesting lovren to sign for Liverpool, which is understandably believable.
Koeman says no new bid, and unless that happens he will still be a saints player.
I really hope les reed and koeman are on the same wavelengths. Otherwise this saga will start to look really embarrassing, more than it already is

would take koemans word more than les reed
he is more honest

It was good to hear from Koeman after the Swindon game. It is interesting to read that the Lovren deal is no where near getting off the ground as yet, and that he's prepared to play him if nobody actually puts a bid in!

Osvaldo is going, that he confirmed, they just need to find someone who wants him.

As far as replacements go, I think we need to think beyond the obvious. I'm not convinced by Caulker, yet another over-rated English player. If he was any other nationality he wouldn't be worth more than 2 million.

If the world cup showed us anything, it's that there isn't an abundance of quality centre backs out there, and those that are good will command a huge fee.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thought our best players last night were our two right backs; Clyne & Chambers. Fonte played well, Pelle and Harrison Reed also. Sam Gallagher played well too when he came on. Didn't think much of Mayuka last night.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pelle's hold up play was brilliant, Tadic, Ramirez and J-Rod and whoever else we buy will love playing off've him this season. Mayuka's looked bright, just needs to find his shooting boots. McQueen will be something special if he can develop his right foot some more

I agree with NorthShore 100% on Caulker, pretty much every young English player linked with us is highly over rated and over priced.

Hoover on the score sheet last night. At the right end too! He only scores on a Monday.

If Lovren goes to Liverpool, I think that will be the last player they sign from us as I think we're out of players with the last name starting with 'L' unless Le Tiss is available?
