I think looking at the game today you need a centre back a goalkeeper next summer and possibly another centre back your midfield strikers and fullbacks are good but the centre of defense is letting you down and the goalkeeper is prone to the odd mistake

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Goal keeper is world class and not a problem. Still got a few years in him too so no rush for a replacement. Would be good to buy a young keeper cheap then loan him out (e. g. What Chelsea have done with Courtois).

1, if not 2 CBs are key (Fonte needs replacement in long run) and a LB wouldn't be amiss, however will need to judge how the youngsters are getting on first, hopefully one or two can step up next ssn.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless the clubs form suddenly takes a huge drop through December, it's unlikely Cortese will want to open the coffers until the summer. You only have to compare how Saints did against Arsenal last year to see the progression certain players have made (Hooiveld included!) and some of them will still get better as the season winds on. Some people say were over-achieving where we are, but I disagree, I would say the players are fulfilling their potential through hard-grafting game by game, and you don't need any players defined as "world-class" to keep on pushing forward.

Disappointing set, but we'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out how bad that is. On the plus side though Ward-Prowse continued to impress and Wanyama looked entirely natural in his position for the first time this season. Downside, defeat obviously and Boruc finally getting caught out for being a bit too cheeky. We all knew that had been coming and hopefully he won't be quite so chancy from now on. Also Luke Shaw seems to have gone off injured, but not certain just yet. Not the end of the world as there are some positives. let's just hope Cardiff and West Ham get results and Spurs and City draw!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wanyama why can't he pass?

Agree0 Disagree0

They only banned ketchup at the training ground because every time someone said to Victor "pass the sauce" he dropped it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, see your point second poster, then he would be double MOTM!

Do try to keep up with what Saints are trying to achieve.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Luke Shaw gone off injured again, he needs wrapping in cotton wool I'm afraid. Never mind at least it's gives all the Foxy bashers an opportunity to post something online.

Agree0 Disagree0

Burgers without sauce?

Agree0 Disagree0

Victor Wanyama 9 successful tackles the highest on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously, anyone knocking Victor after today's game needs his head read.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have I missed something? I thought we lost 2-0

Agree0 Disagree0

What was Big Vic's pass completion stats compared to the other chaps on the pitch? I only ask in order to get a balanced view of his overall performance

Agree0 Disagree0

9 attempted passes, zero completed?
Just a guess

Agree0 Disagree0

Big Vics successful pass completion rate before yesterdays game was 81% just slightly higher than Lallana.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vic has won the ball in the middle third of the park more than any other player in Europe's top 5 leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said St Christopher! Can't understand people who continue to knock Victor and show they do not understand his job. They should listen to Dave on Solent if they need some education on the subject, and even the papers seem to have realised how good he is at his job.

His job is to break up the play (anyone better in the Premiership?) and then to distribute the ball-certainly not the best in the Premiership. But yesterday he reverted to the simple pass and was pretty good. He can not hit a long pass like Gerrard yet, but he can defend and break up play a lot better than him. I continue to be optimistic and note MPs recent words about developing young players-not just aimed at the Academy.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama was one of our best players, thought J-Rod was great too

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe people knock Victor, or is it that you can't see what others see? For: Big, strong, physical.
Against: Poor concentration, no football brain, little technical skill, shocking passer, not up to speed of premier league.
Just an opinion and although it doesn't match yours other people are entitled to theirs.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Wanyama, as revealed in the Daily Echo last Saturday, has committed more fouls than anyone else in the Premier League this season. "

Tidy player or clumsy?

Debate.

No depth of squad simple as???

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Wanyama hadn't crocked Cork in training we might have had better options.

Agree0 Disagree0

We're in the top four and you're complaining?

Lets be honest, Saints are over-achieving. Huge credit has to go to everyone at the club.

As for the squad it will get better, but people need to be patient.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said re overachieving, very true. Someone being realistic for once.
Not sure where all the money is coming from re all the improvements needed to push for champions league etc or how our famed academy is going to unearth a full team of global superstars?
Why can't we just be pleased with where we are now and remember where we've come from?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think the Don will settle for what we have right now, constant improvement now the norm.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, you're right. The Don won't settle for what we have now. The order of the day under Cortese is Continuous, sustainable growth.

It really wouldn't surprise me to see no-one come in January though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess it depends on if he thinks we can have a go at Europe qualification this year or he may be okay with next year. We absolutely do not have a squad to compete in Europe yet, buying players may solve that or we wait a couple of seasons.
Injuries to Guly and Jack have not been a problem injuries to Dejan Luke and Adam would be.
We don't have the squad to compete in the capital 1 cup right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we don't secure European football this season is MP's job under threat?

Agree0 Disagree0

Luke gets injured every other game

Agree0 Disagree0

Luke just turned 18 and we are right to protect him. He is only a kid and MoPo looks after him properly.

Agree0 Disagree0

No his job will not be under scrutiny if we don't finish in the top 6. I just think that "if" he is aiming at a top 6 place this season and competing in Europe next season then we do have to strengthen at Christmas.
He may well think that is a season too soon though.

No matter what today's score against Arsenal is, since Liverpool and Everton drew, it means we are actually playing to go top of the Premier League.

Now that, my friends, is an amazing achievement and from the bottom of League one to the top of English football is one hell of a journey!

One I doubt will ever be repeated by another team.

Well done to Saints FC

No Lovren today due to sickness.

This is where our squad strength will really show.
More than Lovren's ability, is his organisational skills.
He runs our defense.

I'm a little worried about the Arsenal game now.
Lets hope he'll be fit for the Chelsea game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on need new sighnings if we are serious about top Finnish??

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's paying for them? Crowds are down this season on last.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to say that the squad coped well today, and the players coming in did a good job.

If we need strengthening then I feel it's a creative player required, but that won't come cheap.

Great to see so many young kids in the squad - JWP; Shaw; Chambers; Reed; Gallagher.

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a creative midfielder available called Gaston Ramirez. Fits your description perfectly, not sure MP or NC see it the same unfortunately.

Next few games against the big boys will make or break our season, would be a massive statement to bring back the 3 points today!
