Stop moaning it's the second game in. persons

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Its only second game in but its as our only real chance of points out of our first 4 matches... so in two weeks time we will be sat dead bottom with a high negative goal difference. Hence playing catchup already.

I was at the game today and i was severley disspointed, we seemed to underestimate wigan and sit off them, they controled large prats of the game and we put no pressure on the ball, when in posession we were wasteful, slow and there was a severe lack of movement, this is becase we are playing forwards out wide instead of wingers, there is no direct threat to the opposition defence, this is due to a lack of pace.
Secondly as soon as any pressure was placed on the wigan team they bypassed our midfield and th defence no longer had its wall infront of it and so was completely ineffective the first time this happened was for the first goal which was wigans first real attempt on target.
So as everyone knows fox and fonte just arent good enough, fote made two awful errors costing us two goals and fox was poor throughout as well as diving repeatedly.
So can we please sign a CB and a LB before nxt friday, we have 0 points because of these two players and a lack of pace this should have been sorted weeks ago.

I concur, would love to think that Nigel can see what we all see and make Nicl dig deep. Better spend 20 mill NOW that 40 at Xmas just to stay up.

I thought we played okay today, some nice football and alot of possesion, as i watched it saw three main areas were we could improve before the window closes.
1. Right wing, ive never really been a fan of Guly but i feel hes to slow and dosnt put enough effort in to be a RW.
2. CB, everyone will agee here, fonte last week had a real good game but today was up to his old tricks, to weak, panics and cost us the second goal.
3. GK, of what i have seen of Davis in goal i havnt been to impressed (although its only two games in) but he seems like hes always slow to make the decision and mostly give away what way he is diving before they havw kicked the ball, the inteligent players will pick p on this soon enough. maybe its time to give Gazzaniga a go?

what do you all think?
and this is only an opinion, we all have our own

JustASaint

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Gazzaniga is a brilliant young keeper. But he's not quite Premiership ready yet. I think we need to sign a good keeper who's younger than Kelvin but more experienced that Gazza. That really pains me to say it as Kelvin has been my favourite player for years now but I'm concerned he's not quite up to it anymore.
I agree about your concern on the right wing we need pace simple as.
As for the Centre back, We need another one if for nothing else to provide competition.

Look back to when kelvin was last in prem with dodgie defence [sunderland] let in 50 60 goals one season

What match were you at?

Welcome to the Premier League fellow Saints fans!

Manchester City was more like a Cup Tie for us.
Wigan = Reality - No easy games in Premiership.
Just seen NA in post match Sky interview.
Just the expression on his face said it all.
We do not have a good enough squad to stay up.

Four signings linked to Saints, and you can see why we need signings like those below:

Gaston Ramirez (International player) - Serie A goal scoring midfielder/winger. Unpredictable genius, who will give us 10 goals a season from midfield and take pressure off Lallana. Latest news on this one is that he has been left out of the Bologna squad for their game against Chievo on tomorrow.

Lucas Biglia (International player) - Argentinian deep lying anchor who can spray the ball about when we win possession, SO THAT WE KEEP THE BALL BETTER, and take pressure off our centre halves when defending. In talks with Norwich, but no deal done, so who knows, might be talking to others too, including Saints, as we have been linked with him.

Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik (International player) - Centre half, French/Cameroon, Dual Nationality, POWER, HEIGHT & PACE, and ability to PASS the ball well. Saints linked with him all summer.

Martin Olsson International player) - Blackburn left back, Swedish international. Just handed a transfer request in last week and linked to Saints.

Busy week ahead for us gentlemen...

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I agree with you 100% when it comes to Ramirez. I don't know too much about Lucas Biglia so I can't comment.
I'm sorry about Kana-Biyik but I think we need someone else. He'll be missing for part of the season anyway.
Finally we have Olsson who I don't think is too great, he's reasonable but not quite up there in my view.

Why keep saying 'international player' , means nothing , everyside in the prem and probably championship has 'international player'.

Hello my friend... Erm, maybe I say it because...

Saints team for Wigan had ONLY TWO International Players (Fox and Davis). And no disrespect, but Scotland and Northern Ireland have not qualified for the final stages of any international tournaments since before the year 2000... (1986 NI, 1998 Scotland).

Oh... Whilst we are on the subject of experience... One more thing... Saints team for Wigan had ONLY 3 players with "Premiership experience"... K Davis and Fox, who were players that were part of relegation teams. The other player being S Davis.

Battles are won and lost before they are ever even fought... Right now, we have a squad which is not exactly geared up to win Premiership battles.

Why Adkins taking off Jay Rod and Davis who didn't play bad, then bringing on Sharp and Ward-Prowse. It made no tactical difference when the plan was clearly not working, just fresh legs. I hold Adkins in very high regard, but I was very annoyed that there was no effort to change things today. We needed someone to bring something different like De Ridder or Puncheon. Lambert ended up out of position all the time just to get a foot on the ball. 2-0 flattered Wigan but we were taught a lesson -

1. We will not walk through teams. We need quick clever passing and movement.

2. Closing down needs to be much faster, especially from the likes of Guly.

3. When the opposition have the lead, they will draw a foul at every opportunity.

4. Communicate.

5. We need more quality signings.

6. Fox = opposition at least 1 goal every game.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Our squad to thin the reason some fans on here said we need to spend but we were called bad fans
i personally wanted better than wot we was doing in the prem last time after all meant to be moveing forward

Agree2 Disagree0

Ok, 1, 2 and 4 are definitely the most important points. We do need signings but we can make all the signings in the world but if we're tactically weak we'll still loose every game.

Ok, who still has their blinkers on about Fox? His communication and positioning was poor again. His ball retention and passing was shocking. In fact, it is clear that the opposition realise he is the weak link to exploit. He cost us at the Etihad and he was nowhere for the first goal today. Not good enough. The only thing you can say is that he wasn't the only one that had a bad game.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Fox gets blamed for just about everything at the moment. The real culprit was Fonte not having any pace and was turned too easily. Been a great servant to us but we will ship goals galore if we don't get a STOPPER or two in central defence. We have been playing pretty football in the last couple of seasons from defence to attack. We were caught out several times during this period and it was only our goals scored that gained us promotion. We should have won both League 1 and Championship easily with the squad we had. I am afraid it reminds me of the Rugby world cup team of 2003, once we won it the players had peaked and it was downhill from there. All this effort these players have put in for the Saints should be rewarded with spending premier league money on premier league quality players. The lads who got us to the prem. even if not thought good enough for this league can look back at their legacy WE GOT YOU THERE and watch saints grow with pride in their hearts.

Poor performance next two games are going to be so important, i have faith in the lads but somehow i just see us bottom after first 4. Another defencive error that leads to a goal, i just hope we can sort it out before the trip to london, we have to have our game heads on for that match.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I said this a while ago, all it would take is one upset to wind up with 0 points from the first 4 games.

Agree1 Disagree0

We didnt beat wigan no hope for next to if we turn up like that and we were at fortrese st marys GUTTED

Agree2 Disagree0

I don't know I reckon we can pick up a point VS Arsenal (I've just decided this based on the fact they looked weak least weekend after loosing RVP and Song).

Actually having watched there performance VS Stoke as well I'm more confident of a Point vs the gunners.

Just at the saints game, really poor more signings or a relegation battle for us.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Think it will be a relegation battle no matter what. But signings needed just to avoid being relegated.

We are two slow going forward. We are disorganised at the back. The potential is there but we are so far off contending.

JJ

Agree5 Disagree1

Exactly wot some fans been saying all summer but they didnt wont to listen
now you watched that at st marys
tells us we were lucky nothing else at city
wigan with all dew respect were one of our oppertunities to get 3 pionts keep up like this we will end up like derby they thought they could spend little and do alright to

Agree4 Disagree0

2 games played 0 points
perhaps saints will stop
pi##ing about now
and buy some defenders what everybody
been saying since may

Agree6 Disagree0

Plenty of effort but Wigan showed us how hard it will be picking up points in PL. Real quality wide player needed to give Lambert ,JR and Sharp good supply.Think the new signings are good but more needed asap

Doggy

Agree6 Disagree0

I also saw the game, we played well, hit the bar twice, and the wigan keeper made some good saves to help wigan win, were we watching the same game ? noticed your post was at 16:35 , were u posting this from the game ?

Agree2 Disagree4

You are way too negative, i was at the game today....first have evens..2-3 attempts on goal just needed a turn of luck. We allowed them to control the tempo in 2nd half...but we will learn. Last week Man City...3-2 held our own £297 million for the team....any one player on the bench cost more than our entire team. NA and NC will add to the team, we will not get relegated. True fans have faith in what Saints are building as a Team.

Agree3 Disagree3

Today we just didnt have luck come on, at man city we were lucky not to be 10 down in first half good we scored 2 but we lost and it always looked that way
deluded

Agree4 Disagree1

RAMIREZ is who i beleive could be crucial this lad is gonna be big he could help us stay up i mean wigan stayed up last year and a crucial player in dat? MOSES
