Quertyell has it about spot on with his post . Our defence has been outstanding this season which is the reason and only reason we are where we are in the league . We scored eight against Sunderland and four against Newcastle, take that off the 39 we have scored in 27 games which leaves us with 27 scored out of 25 games without those two results . It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that is not good enough to qualify for Europe and our recent form especially in the last 5 or six games is bordering on ( no actually is ) relegation form . I don't want to jump off a sinking ship but things are looking a bit dodgy. I just wonder with our manager being one of the best defenders of the 20th century whether his knowledge of forward play is not as good as we were led to believe . I just could not understand why he started with Tadic today and left Djuricic on the bench when the latter was the only one that looked anything like scoring against Liverpool . I also don't think if we had started with just a back four that Berahino would have been given the space to shoot and score with a class finish, if you look at it again Gardos turns side on and looks a bit scared of being hit, man up MAN. On the same point if Berahino can finish like that why can't we?. I am fed up with the possession stats, the only stats that really matter come the end of the season is the GOALS FOR column because if you don't score you don't win . Very disillusioned about the whole thing at the moment .

how big are the goals at our state of the art training centre because we seem to be aiming high and wide. One assumes we ARE scoring in training?

Good evening all, New to posting although addicted to reading with interest everyone's posts. Have to add my two pence worth . another bad result I feel. the defeats I can take but no goals again, and I can't see where they are going to get one from. right now I would take a 3-2 loss 2-1 loss whatever just a goal, a higher tempo where we get agressive, and get after a team until we break them down. just walking at the moment with no second gear. Feels like job done, let's get down Thomas cook

Pants. total pants. Is it already too early to be suggesting get RoKo out? Is his head already at Barca?

h/t. This is garbage. Sorry to be negative in a season that has mostly been positive, but the alarm bells have been ringing since Christmas.

Slow, one dimensional, bereft of ideas.

It's not a popular opinion, but I preferred the football Saints played under Pochettino. There was an element of creativity and flair.

Under Koeman's Saints hoof the ball long and aimlessly as much as an Allardyce side.

45 minutes away from one goal in five games, three defeats. Come on, turn it around.

I have to agree. We needed another striker in January. It was obvious to everyone apart from RoKo that Pelle was going backwards and we had no one to push him for his place. We've had a few shots today but can't seem to hit the target. I think we have blown our chance of European football this season.

One goal in the last 5 games. Absolutely pathetic. What is RoKo doing all week? He doesn't seem to be able to set a team up to play the correct tactics against teams that we should be beating 9times out of 10. Well it's goodbye European football and the extra finance that comes with it and probably goodbye to more of our top players as well.

It's a familiar tale: won the possession stats, had plenty of shots that never even threatened the posts, total lack of quality in the final third, lost to one of the only chances the opposition had.

They should check to see if they've still got the receipts for Pelle and Tadic. Passengers, the pair of them.

The strong defensive unit and a succession of nicked victories with the odd goal from a winger has papered over the cracks for too long.

In truth, Pelle has scored in just 6 PL matches. Shane Long has scored in 1. And that's your strikers for the season. Zero goals from midfield in 2015.

Can see Palace repeating their FA cup win on Tuesday.

Pochettino's style of football was faster admittedly, but it always left us more exposed on the counter. Nevertheless there were also plenty of games during his reign like today's where we had the majority of possession but no creativity in the final third.

What frustrates me the most with the game today is that we've had no reaction from the players who are supposed to be scoring the goals. Elia didn't have a bad game but neither did he have the desired effect we want to see, and that's an increase in the chance creations. In the end we have had one opportunity which we should have and needed to score. Pelle is really in a slump right now, I understand why some want to see him dropped but I can't see it having the positive effect we all hope. For all the good performances he has had, Mane was off the boil too, gave away possession too many times. Tadic is still a lost sheep on the field, it's bizarre how his form has deteriorated. But these are the players we need to see performing again.

One chance on goal is not enough for a team which are supposed to be contenders for a European spot. I am content with us missing out on Europe if it were to happen, but you can't help but feel if results and luck had gone our way, it would of been a certainty.
