This season might just be a 'make it or break it' time for Isgrove. Lads got so much potential, unlucky with injuries, and with 50+ games a season coming up he should be getting plenty of chances to prove himself. Same goes to McCarthy if we don't sign another RB.

McCarthy isn't a right back.

Isgrove won't end up any better than a Championship player. He's quick and enthusiastic, but lacks quality.

^ McCarthy can play right back as well as in the centre, played at RB last pre season and came on for Clyne a couple of times during the season. He's only 18/19 so there's plenty of time for him.

Can't see isgrove making it if I'm honest, he's 23 now and never had a full season anywhere, talent is there to be a decent premier league winger but he's been too injury prone to rely on. He'll probably be over taken by younger more consistent wingers like Sims and McQueen

Once. He came on for Clyne once, for four minutes, at right back.

That doesn't make him a right back. He doesn't even play there for the U21s, and they haven't had a proper right back for over a year, shoe-horning in first midfielder Ryan Mason (who has now joined Villa), midfielder Jake Flannagan (who is now out for 9 months with an ACL injury) and latterly centre back Bevis Mugabe.

There are no plans at the club to develop McCarthy as a right back. I'd be astonished if he was the alternative option to Cedric Soares next season.

He played there last pre season, look it up. Fair enough, it was only once he came on during the season but he's definitely used as a right back in addition to centre back.

Its even on his official profile:
'JASON McCARTHY
D.O.B: 07/11/1995
Position: Right-back/centre-back'

When he extended his contract :
'The centre-back, who can also play at right-back, represented Saints at Under-18 level whilst on schoolboy terms, and agreed a professional contract midway through the 2012/13 season.'

The under 21's and 18's are well known for playing players out of position to help them develop and make them more versatile, Bevis Mugabi played there a lot last season. Doesn't mean we don't have an official RB, just that we want another player to be able to fill in there if/when needed. Jack Stephens is a good example of this, came in as just a centre back, and was played as both a RB and defensive midfielder.

Billy Sharp played in midfield in a couple of pre-season games last year.

He was just making up the numbers.

Oh Christ. Doesn't change the fact he's described as a right back wherever there's an official bio of him. Just stop arguing about things you clearly don't know about

So to create a happier post not about Clyne or Morgan leaving! what do people believe we have in the bank already? even before morgan and Clyne leave?

I think we have in the region for 30 take away 8.5 we spent already leaving us with 21.5 mil and add the 37.5 we will get for morgan and Clyne gives us 59 mil to spend I'd like to see

Imbula for 2 million loan plus €18 euros at end of it.
clasie for 10 mil
Toby for 15 mil
another rb
Elia for 2-3 my
praet for 10 mil
again I'm not sure on that but seem possible doesn't it?

Of the above, I'm pretty sure that we will
Not get Toby and the Imbula deal seems exactly that of Toby last year. Therefore if he has a good season he will go elsewhere for better pay!

I can't see us buying 4 MF s when IMO 2 CBs are required

I'm pretty confident Saints won't spend £60m this summer.

They'll use the Schneiderlin and Clyne money to get a midfielder and a centre back and that'll probably be it. Any further additions will be loans.

Transfers aren't exactly like that, even if the club had the supposed "59 mil" you've said then it woils nkt bw possinlw to spend £57/58,000,000 on those players. Wages, agent fees, contract admissions and other payments are all very prominent in transfers and increase the total cost. Just think about last season when it was reported that the club had made nearly £100,000,000 in transfer fees yet only half of that on new players. Yes, it would be ideal if transfers were that easy but in more realistic terms the club will spend less.

I think that's about spot on Qwertywell, albeit I think we might sign a Cork replacement, but I suppose that could end up being a loan too. Hopefully they can those two transfer done by the end of next week either way, cause if it's not Toby coming in we need to integrate the new centre back quick, same goes for Morgan's replacement!

I don't think a Cork replacement should be prioritized atm. Both JWP and Davis can play CMF and Reed will also see more first team action than last season. Add to that Big Vic and Spider's replacement, and there's the depth.
Dom Gape is touted to be a talent in the past but haven't heard much of him since?
