wanyama can't pass for s**t!

But his strength and a defensive abilities make up for it

Very well analysed and honestly written. As a season ticket holder we have tightened up, may be a bit defensive but at the moment with are falling short in the link up play between midfield and forwards. Osvaldo is quality, works his socks off, Lovern world class and Wanyama a brick wall, that has not displayed the level of distribution of Jack Cork. The two full backs were excellent against Crystal Palace. Lambert was Lambert. Would been nice to have seen Rameriz put on earlier. Davies worked hard, being hyper critical, too one footed, and may be a position for a January purchase (attacking CM) with distribution. Looking at our fixtures up to Christmas you would have predicted top four playing to full potential. We are hard to beat, as an ex international defender as a manager you expected. An ambitious chairman and outstanding, loyal fan base all looks rosey for the future. Come on you Saints!

If the guy's passing was great then he would have gone to one of the top teams. As it stands, passing, and concentration can be a bit poor, although on other days his passing has been great.
At the end of the day, Wanyama is a young kid, just come into the EPL from the Scottish Pub football league. Give the guy a chance, as there's a step up in pace and quality.
(I'm sure there's some jealous skates posting on here).
WTFILN!

Wanyama can pass, but is still getting used to the speed and intensity of the EPL. If he keeps his passing quick and simple there is no problem but sometimes he tries to be too expansive and can end up looking very ordinary-especially if compared to Morgan. He can also get caught in possession when he losses concentration but is strong enough to compensate by winning the ball back.
Another month or so and I can see these issues will be sorted.

'. getting use to the speed and intensity of the EPL' don't make me laugh this guy has played Champions league football and should be able to make a simple pass to a team mate! I barely ever saw Cork misplace a pass in his first season in the prem.

I was a doubter of Adam Lallana and had posted about it before. Never before have I been so glad to have been so wrong. He's in top form these last few games, but I am glad he and Ward-Prowse are getting rotated a bit as neither seem to have top stamina. Glad Rodriguez has been dropped, he wasn't good enough and he's starting to show the determination of last season again, I think this'll be overall good for him. Osvaldo finally on the scoresheet from open play, I get the feeling he'll be getting a few more now. Best part though has to be the defence. 4 clean sheets in a row. Lovren and Wanyama have sured it up and Shaw and Clyne are looking like the best wing back partnership in the EPL. Fonte has raised his game dramatically, him and Yoshi have excellent reading of the game.

It is a good time to be a saints fan, I don't believe we'll finish were we are now, but we'll be up and around 6-8th.

I agree with you regarding Lallana. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much end product with the lad. I do think though that since Lambert worked his way into the England squad, Lallana has been determined to get into the England squad as well. He's playing with a new determination, and quite frankly he needed a push. At times last year he reminded me of a headless chicken- running all over the place but with no purpose what-so-ever, so I truly hope that the improvement continues.

As for our defense, what has MoPo done with Jose Fonte? I think the club must have given him drugs, or perhaps sent him to a hypnotist, who told him he was Tiago Silva. We'd better not click our fingers!

I have to say, with aging wing backs in the England squad, and the fact I completely agree with the above, if I was Roy, I'd be looking to call up shaw and clyne for Brazil, we need some youth in the international squad and these two would be amazing at the World Cup, much better than what we have for England at the moment, cole and Johnson, as good as they are, aren't any better currently, and these two boys would bed in quickly and stay there for many years.

I would pick clyne over johnson all day long. if shaw gives it anymore I would pick him to but cole is world class even on a bad day at the mo

Same story as the last 10-15 games - can't score from open play, really poor in the final third, no pace. (h/t)

Job done. Wasn't pretty, still didn't create anything (Osvaldo scored from a half-chance, Lambert with a stunning free kick), but the points are banked. Lots to work on in training, though.

A team in 4th, with another gear available! Sides around them not consistent. Can't be bad for the rest of the season.
(And remember, could/should have had another 4 points at St. Marys and another at Norwich!)
Can we push on next weekend? It will be very interesting.
