Pochetino sais they will be no signings unless it is to improvge the squad shorely that means sombody must come in personaly I think we need a fast finisher a mix of lambert and jayrod zarate has been rumord strongly lately so dispite pochetino saying what he did don't be suprised if we bring in someone like zarate if not him

If we are aiming for europe in a few seasons the best time to start bringing in talent is now. Get the players gelled together, Also to have the strength in squad depth to compete in the league and cup games. What we waiting for?

Cortese's plan for the club is long-term, he won't buy players now who in another two years time might not be good enough for that the season's goal. It has to be a gradual transition however and not one which will completely disrupt the team as signing lots of players does (case example: QPR). What we already have in our team is a great display of effort to play as a TEAM and not as a set of individuals and that is a hugely valuable asset to being successful in the premier league (case example: Stoke).

Agree0 Disagree0

Well isn't he just stating the obvious? Who signs players with the intention of worsening the squad they already have?

After tonights results the bottom of the table is looking very close. Saints have got a difficult run of games coming up and QPR, Wigan and Newcastle seem to be coming in to a bit of form. Tad worried that we're the only side to do very little business at the bottom of the table. Looking at it objectively, I can say this will be a close relegation fight. Hope we sign one, maybe even two players to add a bit more depth and rotations options to the squad.

Look this is a tough league and unless you are the chosen ones, meaning either more money thrown at them than you could ever dream of, or the established top 4 or 5, it could be a struggle for any of the other teams. Support is everything and we have got it in shedloads. We will be ok if we all stick together and give the manager, the board and the players our total support.

Having lallana back is as good as a signing.

Southampton gone all a bit quite gone we were linked with everyone!and now no transfers coming in. Very odd what's going on? thought we would stay up!but the playing field has changed with all the other teams around us bringing new players in.makes me think back to when we went down under harry we stayed still! While all the other clubs around us got better from the players they brought in the transfer window i'm starting to get a bad feeling about this but hope I'm wrong and the club knows what there doing???????????? just feel I've seen this happen before.think long and hard Southampton FC as I think the fans have been great up until now! Even when we lost a great manager in NA But everyone has a breaking point!!!!! Think on!

Believable7 Unbelievable6

To be honest, we seem to have lost out on a few of the players we wanted and it probably means we've run out of time for Cortese to be up tight about pricing. Therefore, it is very unlikely we will see anyone else join Southampton.

Its not as if we have nt had
time to sign anyone
if saints have a bad spell we could go down through lack of signings

Simon Peach has said on twitter that no more signings are likely at Southampton this window hope this doesn't cost the club dearly in terms of relegation prospects. A couple are however expected to leave in this window.Guess that means Barnard and Forte but we shall see.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Disappointing. We could have used an experienced finisher playing in midfield. Hope he knows what he's doing......

There is an unconfirmed rumour that Cortese has bid forJeremain Lens again having had bids turned down by his dutch club last summer. Could be true as the timing is spot on as Lens contract will be running out next summer so i'm told.

Agree0 Disagree0

When did he say this as I looked at his tweets and last reference to saints was that he was going to keep all over any transfers for saints and qpr keep em peeled he said, hardly a statement of no signings ? If we don't then the club must assume that even with poss' injuries that we have sufficient cover, though I doubt that as we don't have a strong depth of talent in strikers.

Agree3 Disagree0

So much for Mauricio Pochettino attracting the big names to are club I bought into the whole top 6th thing and gave them the benefit of the dout even after sacking are best ever manager to date!but starting to see the facts now my head has clearedafter all the upheavill the real reason there are no signings coming in is they don't want to join us simple as that! courtinho and verdu from espanyol have knocked us back and even though it pains me to say it.that's the cold truth painful as it is!!!

Agree5 Disagree6

It is unlikely, but it really depends how things develop over the final 2 days. If the right player suddenly pops up at a fair price, I'm sure Pochettino and Cortese would jump at it.

Agree3 Disagree0

I do agree its disappointing that we haven't got anyone in. I am forever hopeful that we will. I think, personally, the problems have been as follows.
1. We appeared to leave it until the last week or so before trying to get a midfielder/striker
2. We are still new boys who are hanging around the bottom and have a new manager. That is an obvious risk for anyone wanting to join us.
3. We appear to be trying to punch very highly. Some of the people we have been linked with, rightly or wrongly are long term prospects when we have a team of quality rather than the odd man. I was always surprised when we bought mr expensive. A lot of money for one player in the position of just coming up. He is starting to come good but still only starting

One thing that annoys me about it all is just the way NC keeps so bloody quiet all the time. Yes I can understand keeping quiet but us fans are almost being treated as mushrooms.

Agree3 Disagree1

If Mauricio Pochettino can't the players in now that he wants why should it be any different in the summer that even if we do stay up? We've heard all the big talk before and to be quite frank talk is cheap!!! The honeymoon period is well and truly over!!!!it's time to show the fans he can match his words with results?

Agree5 Disagree5

You have to admit that saints fans do get a little carried away with possable signings? How many of these possible signings has nc or mp actually said from there own mouth we are trying to target? None! its all media talk or excited fans linking us with the likes of david villa lol so just hold tight i'm sure mp knows a lot more about football and management than most if not all the fans.

According to tv, Southampton are believed to be monitoring FC Krasnodar striker Moussa Konate, who is currently unsettled in Russia, having moved there after his spectacular performance in the Olympics. At 19 years old he has drawn comparisons to the likes of Drogba.

Whether or not there is any substance to this is questionable, however I for one would love to see this promising young striker join and other some further depth up front. Possible future front line of Konate and Mayuka? Yes please.

Nope I really hope the editors print this because the guy let an awful lot us Saints supporters down in our darkest hour so nope, no way what ever we do or do not achieve with NC & MP in the PL KJ should not be apart of this club

Saints linked on sly to Konate the Senegal striker. I think it would be wrong to take a punt on another African player when Mayuka still deserves the opportunity to play and prove himself.

This is in reference to billy sharp, with the possibilbility of being recalled by saints :
NOTTINGHAM Forest have taken the first steps towards signing Billy Sharp on a permanent basis - and the striker says that the move would be a 'good option' for him.

But manager Alex McLeish may have to play a patient waiting game, with Sharp also today insisting that he is in no rush to commit his long-term future to Forest.

What will be of solace to Forest fans is the news that Sharp insisted on there being NO clause to allow Southampton to recall him in January, when he joined on loan from the Premier League club in the summer.

And he has pledged that, between now and the end of the season, he wants to score 20 goals and help the Reds to promotion into the top-flight.

"When I signed for the season, I wanted some stability. So I didn't want there to be a clause where I could be recalled in January, " said Sharp. "The (Forest) owners have said that they do want to buy me. But a lot has to happen, they have to ask Southampton first, for a start.

"But I am here for the season, at the very least, because they cannot recall me in January. I did not want that clause to be in the deal. I did not want any interruptions. I have had a few injury problems in the last few seasons and I have not been able to get to that 20-goal mark.

"That has really frustrated me. Hopefully I can stay fit and get those 20 goals for Forest."

"I will score as many as I can for Forest and then weigh my options up. And signing for Forest is a really good option. Something might still happen in January, " he said.

"There has not been a concrete offer, but there has been talks between the main men and myself. I am enjoying what I am doing, I am doing well - so I don't like to change things."

McLeish added: "Billy's record speaks for itself. He has prowess in the box, he has finishing power - he is an asset. He would be an asset to any club. He would be a tremendous acquisition."

Other than the odd unknowing Saints fan we already know he isn't coming back to us this transfer window, but thanks for the emphasis. There is a possibility he might want but a permaneant deal with Forest in the summer but the ball is totally in our half with concerns to that as there is no buy clause with his loan. With the new gaffer as well there is all the chance we aren't going to want to sell him in the summer given his current form.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think if we went down and forest didn't go up, then there's a chance he will stay.. but if we stay in premiership[ and forest dont, I can see him being sold - chirs

Agree1 Disagree0

Billy Sharp was a great player for saints .. he started slow and took time to adjust but once he did .. great player ! and scored the vital goals that gave us promotion. Then Mr NA decided he was not worthy of the Premiership ??? without even a chance ! so pleased he is producing the goods for Forest and NA got his just desserts for cr*p decision making! To be honest all fans have wanted him back all season but respect to the man he refused a clause allowing him to go back :-)
