Well said.

As a Cardiff City fan I'd like to second this. Ron was a terrific centre forward both on the ground and in the air. Fantastic for Wales, too. If only we had someone like him next season I'd fancy us to stay up.

Ron was amazing - he still soars high!

Agree0 Disagree0

So sorry to hear this, what he achieved playing for Saints was quite remarkable, 37 goals in the top flight in one season including 4 goals at Old Trafford, a wonderful player-RIP

So what friendly games would we like to see pre season then?
I would like the other big south coast clubs to join the memorial cup, (Brighton and Bournemouth of course)
We usually have a big (ish) European team visit St Marys and I think one of the big German sides would be a good test. Think we should also have a confidence game and take on the mighty Eastleigh or Gosport Borough. Any thoughts my fellow Saints?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would like to see us challenge someone like schalke, I know we aren't as good as them but it will be a great game for the lads to have under their belt

Agree0 Disagree0

"Other big south coast teams like Bournemouth and Brighton"?

Don't think so. This is for the first team squad, not for Saints juniors!

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I would like the following:

UK:
Eastleigh
Brighton
Celtic

European:
Ajax
Malaga
Dortmund

(in that order. getting increasingly more challenging)

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like Arsenal to come back and try to retain the Memorial cup and then a European side possibly Espanyol would be nice.

As for normal friendly matches I'd like us to play Ajax again as I reckon we could beat them this time around. Also think the team should go away to a retreat in a place similar to the area in France where they did last time as they clearly was good for the team in getting them used to working together as it prepared us very well for the friendlies we had back in England.

Agree0 Disagree0

My big south coast team comment was purely a stab at the skates fella.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal. Celtic. B Dortmund. Espanyol. Juventus. Don't want much lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Southampton, brighton and bournmouth I think that would be a great idea 3 small clubs of equal ability playing with each other' good crowds as well at least 4000 keep shooting your self's in the foot you lot lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Roma then sign osvaldo #icandreamcarnti

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah, obviously a skate as they weren't mentioned. Then again, I suppose they are officially the worst of those 4 clubs with Southampton clearly the best by a million miles. Keep digging skates. Hopefully you'll get much better so that we can actually be bothered to laugh again.

Agree0 Disagree0

When ever I need a good laugh I love come on her and read your latest rumours on who's joining you next, it crease's me up, can see now why your one of the most disliked set of fans in the prem! oh and by the way i'm not a Portsmouth fan, and I have been to both your grounds to watch my team a few times, give me fratton park any day they really get behind their side can see why they are one of the most respected set of supporters in the country, unlike you lot who seem to want to replace your entire team ever season. I would't think they would be to bothered about not being invited to play in minor mini tournament.

well your oblivously a person then seeing as we get around 30 000 fans at home games and you do know that saints, brighton and bournemouth are 2 and 3 leagues above you lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Love it when these plums come on and get all upset about the rumers. Yeah most is rubbish but I think you'll find that the real fans don't want to replace the whole team! We love our players! Even the poor ones!

Agree0 Disagree0

So who do you suppport then because I bet your the guy whos been trolling on here lately

Agree0 Disagree0

Brighton defo. After we give a whooping, might shut their arrogant fans up for a while :-)

Shame you didn't tell us who you support or maybe you're afraid to!!

Guy who 'isn't' a pompey fan supports Wet Spam I reckon. Can tell by the way he writes, like a troglodyte.

As Saints Fans we should show a little more decorum. Yes it's exciting times at the moment, seemingly with money and the powers that be on the board. But let's reel it in a bit! We have only just come up to the prem again and for a lot of it we looked shakey. We will hopefully get more players in over the summer which will help us cement our position in the countries elite! But let's not be left with egg on our faces spouting all the recent crap we have, it's great to have ambitious targets like Europe but we're talking as if it is assured we will be there! I'm not saying have hopes and dreams but let's just go about our business with a bit of class which MP and NC seem to be doing! It's our fans that are making people laugh at us!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not entirely sure it is only our fans who are posting some of the stuff to try to make us look ridiculous. Plus some of the posters will be school children and trollers which will just be either fifa players or trying to make us look moronic. However I agree with this for some saints fans who have been getting a bit over the top recently.

Agree0 Disagree0

On the other hand, we have numpties saying, you'll never get him or him bla bla bla'. All it takes to be successful is money. we ahve plenty as well as a great infrastructure, academy, fan base, manager and chairman. What's not to get carried away with? COYR!

Southampton have never been a big, we have always been a small club. When we went down we had some class players but they didn't live up to their ability that season, we went down in 2005 amd had massive debt problems. We have always been a small club maybe not to our low position in the prem all the time but because we spent 27 years hanging on in there, we also had big names at our club and come through your youth academy, but they could't wait to leave one I know everybody will know is Alan S who played for newcastle and was probably one the beat strikers in the prem ever! after he left us Our academy is the small'est in england and works on bringing british, ill repeat BRITSH! Youth through, unlike most clubs as we can't a get any foreigners our youth players are laughed at on a daily bases, admittedly some players won't make it but ryan seager seems to be an up and coming striker already putting 5-7 goals away at youth level in a season. Another reason we are not a big club is we have one of the biggest capations of support in country, but we don't all live right next to the staduim a lot of fans live in Gambia or places like that! We could easily have 2 thousand supports in our staduim maybe even 5 thousand at a push but money speaks and its well know saints supporters are tight and to make a long journey and pay the money, a drf no no look at the wembley trip for example JPT I think it was at least 5 thousands fans that day and the other fans packed out their side we could probably had more that day could of been around 8 thousand. Small club? At the moment yeah we are but it doesn't mean just because we are we can't sign big players, 5ft at least footballers like to be playing not sat on a bench and going to one of these so called big headed person of a club doesn't mean they automatically play so no we can sign some big names just not all and we wont. This is a rumour site so clue is in the name. Look at bayern munich and BVB they sell their tickets at low, low prises so get thousands of fans each gane 80 thousand for dortmand on avergae a game we could have about 6 I reckon if we had a well built, well placed staduim wih cheap ticket prises, instead of a lego stadium yeah small club, no but half of these big clubs are supported by REAL FANS! We have plastic fans, so nobs who say we are small, do one you obv know your football and its history!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The laughable thing about the post is your wanting attention for your small club down the road, look at you and your jealousy I mena come you didn't have to turn what I said in to how crap Portmouth Fc is? I know you only get 8 thousands supports a game and when you won't he FA cup you turnes in a s***ty littleclub that has died away into nothing ajd your right a bout your acadamy, I mean not even JWP wantee to go there and he supports them. Damn I mean it must be a sad say for all portsmouth fans when yoi realise the biggest game you will see in yoir lives again will be against northampton town. while the saints have crowds of 32 thousand a game, I think you forgot to change the name saints to portsmouth because the above sounds more like you as I think half your plastuc fans are going to support the club in the premier league : ( shame you had to tell us the sad story about the fall of such a prestigues club. LOL mate go support your team playing in league to god knows your only jealous because you have to us our training ground to train, pfft please the most you can do is get trampled over by the big teams in league 2 good luck down there and don't forget the biggest thing you will ever get maybe the johnson paint trophy not laughing when you win it, the story of a jelaous club, portsmouth fc in all its s*** glory. Oh btw Skate! DEAL WITH IT boring nob

LufacrusS {Ed001's Note - and Southampton fans wonder why people think they are arrogant! You do yourself no favours lad, your original post was bad enough, but this rant is just making it worse. Try showing some humility.}

Agree0 Disagree0

What even are these posts? Terribly written and make no sense. Eds?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, why do you post these pointless essays from pathetic little fans?

Just ignore them - everybody else does.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed. , do you really think this is a Saints fan? Suspect such tosh comes from someone with a real problem, so don't be too hard on the "person". Best not to post such stuff, and starve them of the oxygen they crave.

Agree0 Disagree0

Southampton JPT Final attendance 73,000 with saints fans reported by tv asking for more tickets. As for the rest of the original post that appears to be written by a delinquent. what the hell is he going on about the average attendance was 30,000 with the lowest attendance being 26,000?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would hazard a guess that the epic poster has done all his homework & tidied his room & now he`s bored!
get a freakin life kid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Saints took around 50,000 to Wembley which is a record attendace for a club at wembley and we sold out our last 8 home games

Agree0 Disagree0

'and Southampton fans wonder why people think they are arrogant?'. err, no we don't. No one ever says we are arrogant unless they have an obvious gripe with us for some other reason, like being a jealous pompey fan or a bored website administrator whos fed up with being stuck editing the Southampton page. {Ed001's Note - actually I have to delete hundreds of posts a day across the sites calling Southampton fans arrogant.}
