What an insult from Liverpool maybe Clyne should ring Ricky , LaLa and Lovren and ask about what a great team they joined challenging for the prem Title . Liverpool absolute Joke

If I was Les Reed aside from stating the obvious and telling them to do one, I would remind them that last year Lovren cost £20 million. So given that Clyne had a generally impressive season, consolidated himself as England's starting right-back, and his departure will be an annoyance for Saints to replace, his value will come to about £40 million Liverpudlian pounds, assuming they no longer have any Southampton FC discount coupons left.

I think its down to how the players that left last year performed below par for the new teams and the fact clyne only has a year left on his current contract and has stalled for nearly 9 months with his extention.
Anyway let's hope arsenal win today and clyne sings up

This isn't a rumour so I do apologise but benteke''s buy out clause must be causing a massive stir up for villa. For Saint''s to buy him would be a massive statement of ambition. Does anybody have any genuine ideas of our top targets this summer, edds maybe? What with European football probable surely we need to really strengthen the squad. We have a good first 11 but I can't help but think along the same lines as what benali said in the echo today.

{Ed002's Note - I can tell you players I am aware of Southampton having looked at or enquired after but I cannot answer anything about "top targets". My experience from this page last year makes me reluctant to give any detail.}

After last year Ed 002 I don't blame you. I think that it's best to wait and see anyway as Saints usually surprise everyone by buying someone that nobody thought of.

Prices us out. I'm intrigued from David Gold's statement today that West Ham will be making a "big signing" soon. As they are one of the main teams we are competing against outside the top 6, anything they can do we should be doing better!

Shame to say I had to get off my high saints horse becuase we can't offer the same money as west ham can offer

A big signing, interesting, could that be related to them bringing in a top manager?

Think you will find Wet Spam make the same comment every time season ticket sales are underway!

Suggested this morning that Liverpool are in for Clyne. Well whatever they bid (if true) they should be told to get stuffed . Millions of pounds are being spent by the big clubs on fairly average foreign players. Clyne's price tag must be at least 25 million if not more.

We should be building for the future by adding players not selling.

Norwich's promotion to the PL is said to be worth 120 million so having set a base standard of 7th this year, being profitable means being successful and if we do get to the Europa League we need a bigger and better squad. Success breeds success.

If Liverpool are in for Clyne then at least he can't say his head was already there or that he was mesmerised by the amazing season they had. It will purely be wages, something we are limited by unfortunately, and arguably a lack of ambition on his part if he chooses to go there rather than stick with Saints.

Brenda-you are missing a real gem! Instead of Clyney we can let you have an amazing prospect, John Silver. A bit one sided but not a problem when playing as a full back. A little difficult for him to complete 90 minutes but didn't hold you back when you signed LaLa and Rickie! His underwear is a little odd, hence his nick-name (Long John).

Somewhere between £20-£30m should seal the deal-and we will let you have his parrot for free (apart from the appearance payments.)
