To be honest lads, the stat doesn't look good - 5 losses in 6 games, BUT 3 of those were from the top 3 of last season and 1 of them was against a strong in form Everton side. Chin up lads, results WILL come.

Defensive reinforcements will come in January without a doubt.

The team clearly has Premiership standard strikers, just needs the defence to hold out better. Although it has shown signs of improvement...

You will be down by january, lol

Even if we strengthed in jan, i hope its not too late at attract good players.. i think we should get ricardo carvalho on loan from madrid. proven and available

We lost but it was expected wasn't it!but a number of positives- Gazza played well in a difficult game for him and Ramirez looked totally commited to the cause and oozes class, our home form needs to keep us in touch till the Jan window when our defence has to be strengthed, the gap between championship and premiership gets bigger every year and the team we have now is streets better than after 6 games last year when we won the lot or most-so a win against Fulham will help a lot and I will be very surprised if we don't achieve it.

Agree4 Disagree2

I would rather be 17th in the premiership than 17th in league one lol so haha portsmouth fans plus 10 points deduction soon for you haha you will be down by january lol

Agree6 Disagree2

I'm not sure it's mathematically possible for a team to be relegated by January in the Premiership... Even if it is I doubt it'd happen for any football club that can even get to the Premiership... As for Southampton they've got one of the most impressive attacking forces in the league, all they need is to sort out the defence and to be honest they are getting better. Yoshida is working well at the back and with Gazzaniga gaining experience I'd imagine the defence will just improve and hopefully they will show what they are capable of in their own right soon enough... I can see saints pulling away from teams like Norwich and Reading comfortably.

Same old excuses.

Ok so we play Everton later today so quick predictions. I am predicting a 2-3 away win to Southampton. I know that may seem hard to believe to some who read this but the showing in the final 30 mins against Aston Villa proved what the team can do as they brushed aside a Premiership opposition. If they can hold that sort of a performance they should get plenty of goals against Everton.

However Everton are a strong side and they have also been capable of scoring goals so far this season. I reckon they may well manage to pull past our defence and get some goals but if we have Yoshida and Hooiveld at the back we should have very strong central presence which could damage the chances of Everton getting goals. They are good with balls being hit over the top as well which Hooiveld with his height should be able to deal with. Also if we have Gazza in goal hopefully he will also deal with high balls that Fellani has enjoyed so far this season.

I reckon it will be a high scoring affair but somehow I see it ending with saints edging a win over Everton. Although then again thats an opinion...

Yeah that didn't go well... Oh well, next game is Fulham.

We still played well though and we're not expected to beat Everton away anyway, however Fulham at home will be a 2-1 win to us me thinks
