That was unforgiveable to let in a goal in with 4 minutes left on the clock! Hooiveld looks out of his depth a lot of the time? Still think jay needs time to blossom he's not quite there yet. Ricky was top knotch as always but we should have bought a pacey forward in the window to help him out even if we can get one in on loan in feb with option to buy in the summer!! we are making lots of chances just need to put more of them in the back of the net! A point is better than not nothing but it really should of been 3? "POCH" TACTICS ARE TOP CLASS lots of pressure and playing at good fast pace even utd did not have any time on the ball!!!!! we just need another goal scorer and maybe a good holding midfielder with an eye for a pass to boss the midfield!!keep up the good work lads!

J-rod is turning into a clutch player under potch, way more confident and looks like the player we thought we had for 7 million. seems that he has bulked up as well, that must be helping him quite a bit

I couldn't agree more. Jay looked fantastic today as did the whole team. We completely dominated away from home and deserved all 3 points but hey that's football. I was a little bit dissapointed we didn't sign anyone else but it would of been easier to make a couple of rash signings than it would of been to back what we've already got. If we play like this for the rest of the year we should have no dramas staying up. It was also good to see we did not lose to any silly mistakes it was just good goal poaching on maloneys part. Although Yosh lost his man the first goal (he tends to do that a bit) Boruc looks quality lately and I didn't think I would be saying that after that fumblefest a few weeks ago. Would of liked to see Butland, Redmond, Stones, Sissoko and come in and maybe shipped out a couple more but hey i'm totally happy with how we're playing and ill leave the managing to Poch. COYS

Jay Rodrigues had a top notch performance and his run to set up Schneiderlin's goal was brilliant. He's a young lad and is only improving as the games pass. I am extremely impressed with how Pochettino has improved him and the entire team. Shame about dropping the points today, just seemed Shaw made a small error playing him onside late on. But to be honest this performance away from home is a great sign, should lead to survival playing like that again. In fact if we do I can see us beating the Champions next week at St Mary's.

I think the fact Villa dropped their lead late as well made the result less bitter. And more importantly the players showed they have adjusted to a faster and more pressing game which is providing them with long spells of possession. Despite conceding right at the end the boys confidence will still be high so I think if training goes well this week man city are going to be in for a shock when they come to play next weekend!

The thing I liked about our performance today was the patience we showed when Wigan were getting everyone behind the ball to stifle our attacks. I think it showed the level of our fitness while Wigan visabley tired in the second half. MP's substitutions were very good as well where he freshened up certain positions to maintain the pressure.

I thought JWP did well to when he came o and played a big part in the second goal

Need a pacey forward. Erm, Mayuka maybe?

Agree with tj why the hell is everyone saying we need a pacey player don't you think mayuka is pacey enough and you never know he might get first team with new manger when back from africa cup of nations

Relegation 6 pointer today! We NEED to win this one. Absolutely essential. Apart from Guly and Fonte no one else is injured so let's see a strong team fielded and take a win at our first fight at Wigan!

Half time losing 1 0

if it stays that way
it will be 1 point from 9
and hardly any money spent
well done cortese relegation
form

bring back nigel adkins

Agree2 Disagree11

Gobby glory-seeking whinger above obviously spoke too soon but even if it had stayed at 1 point, it would have been 1 point more than we achieved in the same games under Nigel. Well done Cortese, we are looking more like future European contenders with each game. Real football fans know we fully deserved at least 7 points from the last 9 which is merely frustrating and certainly not relegation form. Still expect nothing from City game but i'm a bloody sight more confident about it than I was 6 mos ago.

Agree5 Disagree2

European contenders
youre kidding yourself

2 points out of 9
give another stupid goal
away at the end again

Agree0 Disagree2

Expecting nothing against
city
defeatist

Agree0 Disagree1

Actually watch us play and you'll see that recently we dominated Arsenal and got a draw, came from 2-0 down to a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, were unlucky not to beat Everton in a 0-0 draw and where the "best team" to play Utd all season at old trafford and all these teams are looking to get into the Champions league, and we were unlucky against Wigan too, and he actually said "future European contenders", so at least know the teams performances and results before you knock the team, I reckon by the way we've been playing and Fonte and Forren coming back to fitness we have every chance of causing an upset. COYR! let's get up this table!

Agree2 Disagree0

Are you going to deny that we outplayed current European contenders - United and Everton? You conveniently misquoted me, I clearly say FUTURE European contenders but as a Cortese hater I understand your sad desire to see our relegation just to spite him. 2 points out of 9 is 2 more than Nigel achieved so why bring him back? Respect to the guy who described me as defeatist. I suspect you're 'kidding' me but really hope you're right!

Love Southampton rumours, its better than the comedy channel, lol

Southampton's decision to not bring in any new players in January may seem to be a bad one so some fans. However there seems to be method to the decision.

In recent weeks this side has gelled really well and started playing extremely well together, a new player could disrupt the balance of the squad tightening up together.

Further more in January the prices inflate, especially on deadline day. We did manage to get the signing we truly needed in Vergard Forren to cover the centre of defence.

It sounds like part of the reason nobody was brought in though was more talent being ready to step up from the youth squad. Sinclair is apparently becoming a top standard striker ready to step up if called for. Matt Target is also apparently stepping up to the level and may soon be trying to compete with Luke Shaw for the left back spot in the team.

I agree, it would be great to bring through more young players

Interested in people's opinions as to whether anyone thinks we will loan anyone in the next couple of weeks with options to buy should we stay up? {Ed001's Note - the Prem doesn't have a loan window, so it will only be out of contract players or nothing.}

Hmm are there any decent LW on free transfers?
