So the multi million pound signing is just securing services of Ryan Bertrand? Or is their still rumours of any other players? - sounds like its going quiet at St Marys!

Hearing there is a real possibility of Ryan Bertrand signing permantley

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's hardly a pressing concern as his loan runs to the end of the season.

Frankly, after his last couple of performances I've been reminded of the Villa fans' take on Bertrand's spell with them: started well but then fell away badly.

Could Saints get better value elsewhere in the summer than the £10+million quoted for Bertrand?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah well, it's confirmed: Bertrand is a Saint!

if we don't get a striker in we can kiss goodbye to europe, pelle just ain't good enough.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, we need a proven EPL goal scorer to join this window

Agree0 Disagree0

If Pelle ain't good enough how come we are still 4th even with our three best players knackered. What will it take for you guys to get behind the players we have and enjoy the rest of the season - we aren't going down and we have 15 games left to see how well we can do

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not about getting behind or believing in the player, it's about depth of squad and the need to rotate players to ensure they have the energy to last the season and play in their peak.

I hope to god that the Vilhena deal is on.

I'm still hoping that RoKo will spring a surprise on us and sign a proven goal scorer in the next few hours but I honestly can't see it happening. After yesterday its blatantly obvious that we don't have enough threat moving forward. Swansea Sussed us out and fair play to them their game plan worked. Other teams are likely to follow a similar game plan against us especially at St Mary's so I think without help up top Pelle looks toothless.

Happy with Djuricic, Vilhena can happen in summer if/when Schneiderlin leaves. Really wished we had signed a striker. Pelle is good, but inconsistent and we need a Plan B in attack. Don't know much but really like Domenico Berardi. (Italian Winger/Striker) - Maybe look for in the summer

We played some wonderful stuff yesterday. We took the game to them, we bossed it like any other top 4 team would against a mid table team. Desperately unlucky though. I tell you what, QPR are in for an absolute flogging. COYR

Were we at the same game ? Bossed it to me does not mean lots of possession especially when it is sideways and backwards. To me ' bossing it ' is peppering their goal and getting their keeper to make some great saves and keep the crowd on the edge of their seats. It didn't feel like that to me. Just one question, did we actually really look like scoring even with all our possession ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabianski did make some saves. I, personally, was on the edge of my seat. Especially during the first half and the end of the second. We had at least five clear goalscoring opportunities : JWP early on, Tadic on the end of Elia's cross (not sure if it was Elia), Pelle's late volley that went over the bar, and Mane's double chance of grabbing a late equaliser. Then there was also JWP's shot and header both saved by the keeper, Bertand's low cross that went right through the goal mouth. You can't say we didn't deserve to win, you can't say we weren't unlucky.

As I read through the comments on here this morning I just couldn't believe how negative some people were. I mean, have people forgotten where we came from? How did your standards all get so high? Some say that Saints fans are the best in the UK because of their perfect mix between passion & intelligence. Well I haven't seen much of either today! We're fourth in the league, we are dominating games, we haven't had this much exciting attacking talent in years, our next generation of youngsters is just starting to emerge. Let's be positive and look forward to giving QPR a good drubbing!

I was almost thinking that I must have nodded off during the edge of the seat stuff you are talking about and missed it. Then I read your bit about young, exciting ( yes still thinking it must be me ) and then you mentioned the dreaded word "attacking" and then I knew I must have slept through most of the game. Possession can often be mistaken for attacking, if you want to see the difference watch the Arsenal/Villa game from yesterday, I think you will then see the difference between possession and possession with constant threat. I am truthfully pleased you enjoyed our game yesterday and we need supporters like you that are totally dedicated. Unfortunately I didn't see it the way you did and adverse to your opinion on other rather negative supporters I have been one of their most devoted followers for more years than I can remember and been there through thick and thin. I just think that recently our goal threat has dried up and we need get that sorted out pretty soon. That's all I can say but it is how I personally see it.

The recent quote in football " Couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo " was aimed at Fernando Torres who was just one player. I think it now applies to the whole of the Saints team in general more than ever, these players ( who are supposed to be top professionals ) are clueless at either finishing or even getting a shot on target. I think yesterday was the prime example of a team that has absolutely no end product and the opposition has sussed this because they can sit deep almost knowing we will not be an attacking threat in the box. Once again players like Tadic, Ward-Prowse, Davis etc. who are supposed to be great crossers of the ball were pathetic and couldn't even get the ball past the near post and if they did it was straight in to the arms of the keeper. You can have all the possession in the world playing it sideways and backwards but that is strangely saying to the opposition that we can't break you down. I rate Koeman but surely he can see that we need a top class finisher and if it costs a lot so be it. The amount of money we squandered on Osvaldo/Ramirez subsequently worked out badly but at least at that time we saw the need for someone who could score you goals. I really can't see why we are in advanced talks with two more midfielders ( as if we haven't got enough ) when it seems pretty obvious to me that an out and out goal poacher is what we really need. Someone pointed out quite rightly that we are more likely to pick up most of our remaining points away from home now until the end of the season because we will play like Swansea did yesterday and defend well and hit them on the counter attack. I just feel like last season under Pochettino we have no Plan B and as long as he keeps playing Tadic we will struggle, he is so lightweight along with JWP and that is a problem. Lastly I hope we can challenge the red card for Bertrand as at the time I thought it was a good strong challenge and all the slow motion coverage shown subsequently has not changed my mind. I think Michael Oliver will have looked at this again and maybe think he got it wrong but then again he is an absolute prat so probably not.

Agree with you on the need for a top striker / poacher. I like Pelle but think we need better. The trouble is that means spending £20m+ and I don't think we have the appetite for that.

I agree entirely so we will end up as the 'also rans' and forget about any real chance of being one of the real top teams. You can only be the best if you have a strong squad and we haven't even got an alternative striker to bring in for Pelle. We'll have a whole team of midfielders when the injuries are sorted though !

For me reed has easily taken the position / hole left by cork, does anyone else agree that we need a striker??? I love Pelle but he is struggling at the moment to find the back of the net and if he gets injured. . .

I know we have Rodriguez to come back but I think le god said yesterday he is still a little way off a return. Edd is there any news on us signing a striker today?

Anyone got any clear info on J-roy and Gallagher and when they are likely to be back?
We clearly need backup for Pelle at the moment and I don't think the attacking wingers that we have are the option.

Gallagher playing for under 21s tonight. Victor and Morgan back to training today, one new player already signed this window and another one probable. Long and Jay Rod to come back, Toby hopefully well before them.

Sunday we were short of players and we had few different options. Think it will be very different over the coming weeks.

See we "missed" Jack yesterday! Was this based on his performance against CP? Don't think so.

Do you not think Jack Cork had ' already gone ' against Palace and to be quite honest did anybody have a good game against them ? I think you know Jack was a good player for us over the years. Peace ?

Jack has looked great at times, and you could see why he was saddled with the "new Bobby Moore" tag, but he, IMHO, never seemed to get to the next level that you would expect for someone of his age. Probably due to being in and out of the side so I hope he can be a regular at Swansea and show he can do that. With the players Saints have currently he was going to struggle to get into the side so best for him to move on.

Totally agree, I just hope Jack does well at Swansea but I wonder whether he'll miss St Marys just a little bit. Hope he doesn't wake up one morning in a cold sweat and think what the hell am I doing in Wales ! Doh !
