Hoping to see Southampton sign an attacking midfielder, winger, centre back cover and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD A SAFE PAIR OF HANDS. Anyone heard any credible rumours into these positions? TJ

Believable3 Unbelievable1

We only need to take 3 players, one to cover the wings/attacking Midfield so like Jermaine Lens who plays across that role.
A centre back to just add to the security and a keeper. I think we've been rumoured with Dejan Lovren and Douglas in the Centre back role. Butland has been rumoured as a keeper but I hope that is not a true rumour as he's incredibly good at spilling and making mistakes. Gazzaniga is better.

Agree1 Disagree1

What about a CDM? We've been most notably weak when Cork was injured in the beginning of the season, if him or Schneiderlin get injured I'd be concerned.

And I'd like a RB to cover for Clyne, we have no other RBs who are up to the job/fit.

Agree2 Disagree0

Aren't we in for Ter Stegen for the keeper position?

Agree1 Disagree0

We need:
Goalkeeper: Butland or Robinson
CB: Lovren
CDM: Carlos Sanchez
CAM:Wellington Nem

Agree0 Disagree3

We may want a new CDM or a new RB but they aren't needed really. I mean we have cover and I'd say Davis and Ward Prowse are great cover for Cork and Schneiderlin. Richardson has also been reasonable. Maybe not Premiership standard but he's not looked far from his depth.

Agree1 Disagree0

Goalkeeper Butland or Robinson? You want us to be relegated then? Robinson is past it and struggling these days. Where as Butland is still yet to be good enough. He has made more errors in the Championship per game than Gazzaniga has made for us in total. If we want a good Goalkeeper we probably need to look abroad. They aren't to be found in our Championship at the moment.

Agree1 Disagree0

Davis is not good enough cover in my opinion, ward-prowse looks like he could be a good player, but we seem to lack a fighter in the middle of the field without Cork, so a strong defensive midfielder would be a useful addition.

I think Richardson is good enough cover at right back and Cork did well there against Arsenal so right back isn't desperatly needed. Another creative attacking midfielder would be good as competition for Lallana, Puncheon and Ramirez.

A solid keeper [not Butland or Robinson] would hopefully give the defence a bit more confidence and a solid centre half are needed.

3 or 4 quality signings and we will fly up the table.

My new years resolution is to have more faith in Guly as he has been brilliant last 2 games!

Believable11 Unbelievable6

Brilliantish.

Agree3 Disagree3

Agree with that, guly gets loads of crap from fans every week he was one of are best players against stoke and arsenal abit unlucky with the own goal!

Agree4 Disagree4

To be fair to him, with his limited playing time this season, he's done well. Much better since he bottled the goal line headed clearance against Poopey. 'Open' goal chance v Stoke wasnkt that cut and dried and his own goal v Arsenal was unlucky.

Agree3 Disagree2

He's not been one of our best players. That's pushing it a bit. He has however been relatively good. Not really looked out of his depth. Maybe had one or two mistakes but he's not the only member of the team guilty of a 'choke' so to speak.

Agree3 Disagree0

He'll be on the bench again when our captain is fit

Ive got a queston. why would Shaw leave a starting spot in the PL to be second choice LB behind Gibbs for years? {Ed001's Note - I have a question myself. Why would Shaw be second choice behind Gibbs? He is a much better player than Gibbs.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I can't see him leaving. He likes playing for Southampton and gets on well with the team. The only reason he would leave (so far as I can see) would be if we were relegated. If we are relegated I'm still not certain he'd even want to go.

Agree4 Disagree1

Think Shaw will stay with us for a while especially if we stay up(which we will). He seems like a very level headed kind of guy anyway

Agree4 Disagree1

More money, winning trophies eventually!

Agree1 Disagree2

Also dont foget he is a poomouth fan

Agree0 Disagree2

James Ward-Prowse is the Pompey fan.

Agree1 Disagree0

Shaw isn't a skate at all. Ward-Prowse is a skate (pictured on a banner above the saints shop at the stadium kissing the saints badge lol)

Agree2 Disagree0

Thats ward-prowse not shaw, shaw is from surrey

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Ward-Prowse's mum or dad or someone close to him anyway is a saints fan hence why he's happy with Southampton. Plus he gets a chance here and has very supportive people around him. Makes it a bit difficult for him to hate our club.

Nigel Adkins has been in deep discussions with Southampton General Hospital over the purchase of a right foot for Jason Puncheon.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Scored with his right foot against reading

Agree5 Disagree0

But if he actually had a right foot he would have scored 9 or 10 goals this season...

Agree3 Disagree0

He has been outstanding already, and you still expect more from him??

Agree3 Disagree1

Don't get me wrong, he has been an integral part of the team during this campaign. It's more just frustration that he could be one of the best wingers in the prem if he had a reasonable right foot.

As a catholic you'd think that Boruc would be better at handling crosses....

Believable10 Unbelievable0

He improved as the game moved on. Think he's regaining confidence in his abilities.

Very funny post

Guly stole my joke

Saints set to bid for Alejandro Gomez.

Will listen to no offers for Luke Shaw or Billy Sharp

Believable2 Unbelievable2

They, at this point, cannot listen to offers for Sharp anyway unless they are from Forest. As for Shaw it was obvious we weren't going to let him go this market. I doubt we'll let him go for some time unless we go down.

Heard from one of the Saints youngsters at the game today, that a Spanish international will be at the Chelsea game with a view to signing. Don't ask me who, he didn't know...

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Please not Fernando Torres.

Agree3 Disagree2

Andres Iniesta by chance? Or was it Xavi?

Wat does everyone think about Douglas and sulejmani from holland because they are available for free in the summer and I think they wld be gd bets on pre-contract agreements or if we got them cheap this window

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Perhaps worth a shot but not sure how cheap the clubs will go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to hear of an agreement for Douglas, hes quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Douglas appears to have a very active agent, and reports are he is joining half the clubs in the Premiership. Must admit, I get a little uncertain about players who need that amount of promotion.
