i heared de brunye might leave chealsea I think we should go for him what do you guys think

Why would Saints want a player who is not good enough for a team on the same points?

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes young and has good potential

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, I recognise he is young and has good potential-but that's why we have invested so heavily in the academy. There has to be a balance between giving our own lads a chance at 1st team football and bringing in new players to the club. So, the point I was making, is that IMO the club is now at a stage where I see it looking to recruit youngsters into the academy OR if "senior" players are brought in they will either be better than our existing first team squad or to fill a gap that may be caused by injury etc. Therefore really don't see de brunye is what we need.
Chelsea have extra games with CL and if they can't find a way, or need, to utilise him I can't see that Saints would.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint Martin has it spot on. Any new signings will be carefully balanced with academy kids. I can see that several of our kids will end up having to leave, since they won't have a route into the first team, and we seem to be producing so many kids that are potentially capable of making the step up.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you're 2nd post St Martin as there should always be a way for our youht products to come up to our first team, but just because he doesn't play regularly for chelsea isn't a reason not for signing him as he's still a quality young player who'd be a great addition to our squad, but I agree I'd rather the likes of Omar Rowe or Loyd Isgrove is used instead

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we not want him? He's a playmaker and we desperately need one. Ramirez looks like he wants to sit on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course he would be a great addition to the squad. Now my question is to some of the posters here is why we wouldn't want him? He is a great playmaker, he is full of pace and he is a young talent that we could potentially get very cheap. To saint martin, your first post said that we wouldn't want him because he is deemed not good enough by Chelsea. Juan Mata is apparently deemed not good enough for Chelsea, does that mean that Juan Mata wouldn't be good enough for us? We need a playmaker and we need some more pace to our side and de bruyne fits both of them categories. I personally would love him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Saintsfan25, you seem a little confused! Both Mata and de Bruyne are out of favour at Chelski because they are unable to play to instructions from the manager. However talented a player is if he can not fit into a team structure he has problems. Besides, Chelski have made it clear they do not wish to allow either to leave so what we have are players their club do not want to leave but currently have difficulty playing to a teams template-not likely to be on their way to Saints IMO.

The more average players that look capable of stepping up is alright.
but the bpl needs excellent youth to come through.
or the league will end up average and not the best or one of the best.

how do you all find wanyama so far?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is a young rock, when his passing, distribution and concentration impove - as they will, then he will be one of the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Needs to get to grips with the pace of the premier league, looks as if he plays thinking he has more time than he does and his passing isn't the best but he is very strong, solid and good at breaking up play

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that in a year or two, once he's used to the pace of the league, and worked on his passing and concentration, he will undoubtedly be a bargain. It's easy to forget that the lad is so young. Then again, same could be said of half of our squad!
Exciting times!

Agree0 Disagree0

Strength, power, presence - but he's too slow on the ball and sloppy with his passing to be a perfect fit for the role he's playing. He'll improve (he's young and raw), but I think Saints' current formation isn't helping: often four players will be standing in a line up top and the responsibility of opening the defence up with an incisive pass will fall to the two defensive midfielders, Wanyama and Schneiderlin. Not sure that's really playing to his strengths. Victor would do better as the deepest of a midfield three, breaking up attacks and passing simply to the nearest player, leaving the more advanced passing to the better midfielders. Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse/Davis looks a good fit in the middle of the park, but then the manager would have to bite the bullet and play only one of Lambert and Osvaldo (which I believe is the way forward).

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a strong solid player but his passing is shocking sometimes, which is why I personally prefer Cork at the moment, I reckon he should be rotated

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite easy to find. He's normally slap bang in the middle if the screen when your watching a game. Very box to box midfielder. I think he's a good "mop up" kind of player, but liit like but his passing could be a bit more visionary. Work in progress player that when he is the finished article would be very much like makelele (probably spelt wrong but you know who I mean)
