Nigel atkins to be sacked after wba game if we lose yet again ,Glenn hoddle to get old job back ,much better tacticaly and in transfer market ,atkins out of depth

Believable8 Unbelievable10

Needs a big sort out at saints
before its to late
getting embarrasing now

Agree8 Disagree4

Still waiting for that win that will give the side the confidence boost they need, and I cant see where from, virtually a reserve side last night but still poor.
coyr

Agree4 Disagree3

For starters it is Adkins not Atkins. Atkins is a type of diet.

Adkins will not be sacked if we loose to West Brom. The pressure will increase but to be honest I do not see how any other manager would've done different.

We have been unfortunate with the results and should've gotten more out of some of the games under his leadership where going into the games we were written off.

The problem is that we have just had a few moments of defensive calamity. Adkins can't be blamed for that.

Really we have been unfortunate to pick up so few points under Adkins and I reckon in the coming games he can and will turn our fortunes around. Stop being negative, back your team and back your manager.

Agree8 Disagree5

I disagree, Adkins has to take the blame for the losses, whether it's caused by the players on the pitch or not. He knew the team lacked defensive quality last year and if he wasn't able to buy the players in the open market then he should be working on it day in and day out on the training ground. Also, his managerial naiivety cost us points from winning positions in at least 2 games this year. Whatever you say, he simply isn't premier league quality.

Agree7 Disagree6

Poster can't even spell our managers name therefore his post/rumour means nothing to me. ADKINS has done some strange subs but I'd rather have stability done extremely well the last 2 years, I'd wait till 19-20 games and see where we are then as 5 of the top 8 have been played already then i might start to panic if we are still in the same position we are in now yes we should change it,

Insightfull saint

Agree4 Disagree1

I am not sure whether you realise that when you say we have played 5 of the top 8 sides, give it to 19 - 20 games and see where we are. I think most of us already know where we will be, almost detached. Remember those 5 out of 8 top sides wilol still be up there in the second half of the season when we will have to play them again. I know that people go on about the January window as our saviour but every other of the struggling clubs will think the same. Glenn Hoddle and Gordon Strachan are our best options due to there great tactical awareness and don't forget they were 2 of the best players in the world in midfield so have vast knowledge of the game at top level. Nigel Adkins is good at what he does in the lower leagues which is his only experience. The debacle at Leeds on Tuesday was to me a poke in the face to our loyal supporters. The reason why Chelsea and Arsenal, remember we would have had a home tie against Chelsea in the quarter final, is because they had first team players in their starting line up and on the bench. I am really just fed up with the expression in Nigel we trust. I am sure you would not think this in March when we are already relegated which will be the case if we don't act now. Glenn Hoddle back then left us to go HOME to spurs, I do agree he could have done it better, but he really should be given the job he really knows his stuff. I don't really like spending £635.00 for a season ticket. I wouldn't mind if we the fans could be included in what happens to our club. How long have we all been telling Nigel where his problems lie on the field and his astonishing substitutions. If we all know and HE doesn't, well we really have no chance of survival. If I hear one more scripted rehearsed interview post match of how we moved the football well and that we'll draw a line under this one, we have been doing brilliant on the training ground etc. etc. Well I hope you know what I mean, really disillusioned about all of it. Going now getting too wound up.

Agree2 Disagree3

Well stoke manager Tony Pulis has just celebrated 10 years at stoke today and look where they are now... Stability is the key, argument over. All fans wanting Adkins out already need to get real it was always going to be hard in the premiership and you cant just expect us to be comfortable in mid table 9 games in on our first year back since 2005 get a grip on reality and get behind the players a support our club!

Insightful Saint

Agree3 Disagree1

Tony Pulis realised that they had to change their shape and defend well to stay in there. Nigel said before the season started that we would probably finish well above half way in so many words. Old saying I know but attack is the best form of defence. If we sit back in our own half all their defenders can get forward and you know how good our defence is...... too naive me thinks. Not looking good.

Agree1 Disagree0

There will be no stability, this season has biggest revenue due to new sky deal and if there is a yr not to get relegated then this is it, as it is we will go down, once that happens we will lose lallana/Lambert/spiderman/ramirez and poss most of our liebherr funding...... at least tho we will have guly. Yes adkins is a good guy but come on, at least 4mths to sort out defence, poor subs have cost us points and too stubborn to change, yeah got us promoted twice.... just... should have won both leagues esp with the money spent, but similar story poor defending almost cost us dear, luckily in those leagues we had chance to outscore them, u won't get that chance in prem so unfortunately something needs to b done, I don't want mid table I'm happy with 4th bottom, that's where we build from, we need 3 quality defenders and in all honesty we've missed the boat, who will come now, who is going to believe in cortese/liebherr dream when we are now a laughing stock,

Agree2 Disagree1

Makes me laugh how some people are saying the Liebherr family will walk if we go down. Where do you get that idea from? Just more muppets predicting doom because it's overcast.

Agree3 Disagree3

Problem is out of the whole of Europe Southhampton were 7th in the nett spend stakes. And yet your defence is the worst in the league. Who does that resposibilty lie with. The manager surely??

Agree4 Disagree2

The Liebherr money was invested to get us into the premier league not to get us there and then straight back down. The money involved with sky this year is truly immense. Unfortunately it is more or less exclusively for the prem and the teams they think worth televising, I think we may be already scraping along the bottom as far as the sky short list. I have supported the boys for over 40 years so those saying keep the faith to someone like myself must remember I and others like me have seen all the ups and downs over the years. I have sat in my season ticket seat through thick and thin but see major danger signs that other people don't seem to notice. I am a 100 per cent saints supporter and the reasons why I am pessimistic is people saying don't panic, well I think we should panic and do something right now before it is too late. Last point is Aaron Martin on loan to Crystal Palace which is great for his experience but WHY?? We have no cover at all in central defence and he could help. Don't even want to go there over Billy Sharp!!

Agree1 Disagree1

Agree with that post, but beware u will get chastised by the small section of deluded saints fans who think stick with Nigel and eventually we will b in champions league, based on the fact of our wealthy owners, money doesn't bring success especially when spent poorly

Agree2 Disagree0

For a guy with 40 years of watching Saints I fear your senses are failing! Have you not realised although Martin is out on loan to CP he is not making their 1st team squad? Why? Because they don't think he is good enough to play in the CHAMPIONSHIP. So,we have him back to cover who? Actually, I do rate the guy as a good prospect and believe he should be brought back to play some football, but can't see he is anyway near EPL standard yet.
The last thing that we need is panic. Basically, we have a squad which is fixed until January and I believe Nigel will get them sorted better than any new manager. If you brought in Ferguson he could not change the players competence overnight and much as I admire Billy Sharp how much football would he get under any manager? Who would he replace-Ramirez, Lallana, Lambert, etc., etc?
Sorry, but I have supported Saints even longer and panic never works. "We should do something now"-well that is great but the somethings being suggested are just rubbish (eg. 'arry), so let's not panic and recognise that we already have people trying to turn it round and I, for one, don't want them to panic but to address the issues calmly and use their experience to get the players playing to their ability. We have seen glimpses of how they can play in the Premier League and if they can be coached to do so for 90+ minutes they will do pretty well, but panic in this league and we will be in trouble.

Agree3 Disagree1

I was not saying that Aaron Martin is the answer, I think you missed my point that being when we are so short of any central defensive cover why let him go. The Billy Sharp issue is more complicated, we have no natural finisher in the box but he is, remember the likes of Steve Moran, Marian Pahars, Ted McDougall etc. I just find it odd that Nigel tried forever to get Billy and let's remember his goals in the second half of last season were the main reason we didn't get caught by WHU. He then let's him go , just find it strange. I still believe we can survive but I just think we need someone in charge that has been there and done that etc. before. Odd guy but the most talented manager out of work at the moment is Glenn Hoddle. He could turn this round I am sure. No easy games in the premier league you know adverse to popular belief. Finally a lot of views on this site state our easier games are coming up, don't you think the teams we are going to play are saying exactly the same thing?

Agree0 Disagree1

Glenn Hoddle??

Sorry, you appear to be in a real state of panic and, to my mind, not making much sense. If Hoddle is a better bet than Nigel why has he not been managing a club for the last few years? There is a reason for this, and there is no way Saints owners will go down that route. Next, it will be bring back Pardew!

I do think Sharp is a great guy but also the club has recognised he would not play much football whilst there are at least 5 forwards ahead of him in the pecking order. It may be different if players pick up injuries but at least he is keeping match fit. As for Martin, the same should apply, but if CP don't want to play him he would be better back playing for the Development Squad.

Did Adkins panic end of last year when Saints were going through a sticky spell? No, he didn't. The squad turned it round and we ended up promoted.

Instant comes in a coffee mug, not in the Premiership. I can't see the club wanting to act like headless chickens and go for no hopers like 'arry or Hoddle. Rome was not built in a day, and neither were Barcelona.

Agree2 Disagree1

I'll have a pint on NA not being manager by the end of the month. Remember the saying in business THE BUCK STOPS HERE.

Agree0 Disagree2

MAYBE FOR STARBUCKS, OR FORDS!

I would prefer a business that doesn't panic and maintains it's integrity.

Nobody come up with the "in Nigel we trust" carp after that shapeless, toothless, hopeless display. Leeds were average and we had the players to win the game. Not one shot on goal. Dreadfull.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

A disgrace, I ACTUALLY thought we would win this one, having Robbie Fowler on SSN doing the commentry made it even worse, Im hopeing he made it sound worse than it was. We had 6 days before the next match, First eleven would of battered Leeds, Adkins...please sort it out!

Agree3 Disagree4

Glad to see our attacking 433 is working, 1 shot on Target against very average Leeds side, in Nigel we trust.... like heck bring on championship

Agree4 Disagree4

Dont see how you could have called them average when they beat us 3 nil. Had they been more accurate on target, they would have wiped the floor with us at least 7 nil.

Agree3 Disagree1

Mayuka played the whole match on his own up front. Lee and De Ridder were stuck on the wings and the midfield didn't get up to support....it was really 4-5-1......Adkins doesn't learn....nice bloke but too stubborn.

Agree5 Disagree0

As above post, Leeds average team consisting of 5 skates that got them relegated

Agree1 Disagree0

Please stop criticising the Leeds game. We didn't play our first team as we needed to rest them after Sunday and didn't want to risk yet further injury on a game where really we didn't need the win. We need to focus on the league so being out of the cup is sort of a blessing in disguise. And to be honest it was a good chance for our youth to get a run out and a good chance for reserves to make a case for first team selection which they didn't do very well.

Agree3 Disagree4

At last, someone who has some sense! For you persons out there, do you really think it sensible to play first team players just 48 hours after a Premiership match? Do you not understand about recovery times?

I quite understand the reasons for NA's selection, and as he has stated, the team was strong enough (on paper) to have won at a canter. He has also made it clear that some who under-performed will suffer the consequences and I say about time too! There were players who did not seem interested and lacked any energy. Nigel needs to make it clear they no longer have a place within Saints and ship them out fast so the message gets across that commitment is not optional.

Agree3 Disagree2

It's not that we had 11 different players it's the fact that the tactics were all wrong. Leeds could have had 7 but they didn't because they weren't good enough to score 7. We should have played Mayuka and Lee up front together and De ridder and Guly wide. If you don't give the other team cause to defend they will throw everything at you. When we palyed all-out attack in the second half against Spurs it worked so why abandon it. And if it really didn't matter 'cos it was the Micky Mouse cup then why didn't we just go out and throw everything forward. You can only make so many excuses for Nigel's lack of nonce before it comes down to him being clueless.

Agree1 Disagree1

Perhaps Mancini is right? If a player, at this level can't adjust to different formations then he doesn't deserve to be at this level!

Saints fans do not lose hope we have played 7 off the top 9 in the table so far, results will come soon!!

Believable5 Unbelievable9

Cant see the next eight games
are going to be any different
than the last eight
the defence is not going to
get any better

Agree7 Disagree0

The defence will get better, they are showing signs of gelling together and were a lot better second half against spurs. I reckon against weaker attacks we might see clean sheets and most importantly with the weaker teams we may see wins.

Agree3 Disagree7

We still lost
lessons not being learnt

Agree0 Disagree1

We still lost? What's that referring to? The Spurs game? They are another top team? The Leeds game where we didn't have our first defence lining up for us?

Agree1 Disagree1

If saints are only going to get
points off the bottom half
teams
they will be lucky to get
30 points
wake up
the first team defence is bad
the second teams defence
looks just as bad

Think we're going to get spanked tonight if im honest. Adkins can't turn us around that quick, and our squad just seem to lack depth in my eyes. Leeds are not a club to be underestimated, especially at elland road.

COYR

Believable7 Unbelievable4

I honestly do not care about this game with Leeds. It's the cup, we need to focus on the league. I hope we get a youth run out in this game and it'd be nice to see our youngsters win but it's not to desperate. Lets quickly turn our attention to West Brom on Monday.

Agree1 Disagree5

No seems like the players and manager didn't care either, nice to see we are such a big club now that we can rest players feel sorry for fans who spent money to go up Leeds and get what was described on sly sports as a woeful display, the club is becoming a laughing stock and its the fans who have to suffer that,

Agree6 Disagree0

Told you, you were gonna get spanked! MOT!
