Well, we've had 2 good performance against the 2 top sides. In all 2 games we defended poorly for mere moments and were punished harshly. People are slating the Wigan performance like we should walk all over them or something. Wigan have won 8 out of the last 11 league games including the likes of Liverpool away and Chelsea. So perhaps give some credit where it is due. Fact is, on balance of play and chances, we could easily have won 2-0.

Yesterday hurt. I totally understand Adkins intention of rejuvenating the front line especially with the pace that Mayuka possesses so we could counter. But, I have to say that whenever Rickie's not on the pitch, we just don't look so dangerous and we missed someone holding the ball. The worst decision was bringing on Guly who would not defend (e.g. cross for equaliser). As Scholes came on to boss midfield (in fairness we were knackered), I would have preferred flooding midfield leaving Rickie up on his own. The composure left the defence and again we are picking the ball out of the net.

On a positive note, Rickie is proving he has what it takes at any level (i never doubted) and some of our youngsters look superb. Clyne made a miracle tackle on Hernandez and dealt with Nani very well. For me, Ward-Prowse was brilliant.

I'm confident that with that intensity, we'll smash a lot of teams at St Marys.

COYR!

Tony

Are there any rumours knocking about re:free agents to southampton other than del piero rumour. Also can someone please confirm we cannot use the loan window because we are premier league, or was that rubbish?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was rubbish. But it tends to only be used in desperate cases. Such as if a lot of players in one position get injured and a team needs replacements. {Ed003's Note - Goalkeepers only seems to be the rule in desperate cases}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok well its an option at least then. So no new rumours knocking about then?

I don't like how most people here are hating on Adkins and some of our players, most of which played a valuable part in getting us where we are today. Give us sometime and we'll be fine, we've brought in some magnificent players, most of which are young.

Sick of all these plastic fans taking pops at our club. Shame on all of you.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

I agree with you on Adkins. But taking shots at players is something everyone does. Manager is always down to the belief in the team but you can criticise the individuals. I mean in some cases it's just we want the best from the players and some of them don't seem to put in the effort and track back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with both posts. But Fox and Guly do my head in every game.

Anybody interested in gambling on craig gordon? quality keeper if we can keep him fit...

Believable3 Unbelievable1

This has been a debate for a while. I reckon offer him a two year deal option of a third and just try to get him to blend in to the squad. Even if Davis remains first choice we'd have two very good keepers and they'd both be great to teach younger keepers at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are still on for Del Pierro. We need to Learn how to close out games pretty quick

DON'T PANIC! It's only been THREE games out of THIRTY-EIGHT, and we've played fantasticly against the TOP TWO teams in the league. (Erm, lets forget about Wigan)

Adkins knows what he's doing. Swansea last season got their first win after 5 games. Patience. Arsenal is going to be tough but we havbe great teamwork and the last 3 games have taught us valuable lessons.

I reckon we can pull off a result at the emirates. They still aren't at their best and if we go up they won't have RVP to get two late goals. I reckon Gaston Ramirez might shine through in that game.

This isn't transfers but hear me out, yes We didn't sign as many defenders as we had wanted(centre half and left back) but you've got to be proud of that performance,at times we played man utd of the park, yeah you can argue that we lost but considering it was one of the best teams in the world we did really well. So all the moaners can shut up its the third game in

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I agree even though we lost, we looked like we were at their level. If it wasn't for a 92nd minute winner we'd have left with a point. We went ahead twice. Our midfield looked comfortable and we played the passing game. It seems we've gotten used to this style of play at last so I hope that shows great things ahead. Defensively that wasn't a terrible performance we played well out from the back it's just playing against RVP you will have problems even Chelsea's defence will find that.

Agree0 Disagree1

Man u not even the best in the prem, very poor showing on sunday, which was lucky for soton, im afraid mu played at your level and not the other way round, expect a struggle and relegation by march

Agree0 Disagree4

Not even the best in the Prem? They did get second place last season and with RVP threaten to take the title this year. They did not put on a poor showing Southampton rose to the occasion and the attacks were swift. Of course mistakes were made by both sides but I challenge anyone to find a single game without a mistake. Relegation by March is probably something you should concern yourself with for which ever useless team you support stop pinning relegation on teams 3 games into the season. Southampton have more to offer and also have Gaston Ramirez ready to help with the team.
Out of curiosity who do you support? Villa? Reading? Pompey? Norwich? Which ever one just worry about your club and leave those of us who enjoy the beautiful game without randomly slagging off teams to enjoy the game with a quality team capable of providing exciting matches.

Am i the only one whos getting the feeling that jay rod is going to be an expensive flop ? whats your thoughts on him so far

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Adkins playing him out of his best position

Agree2 Disagree0

Give the lad a chance, will come good.PD

Agree4 Disagree2

Hes a striker and mayuka can play on the wing, so im a bit mythed by NAs logic with them subs

Agree3 Disagree1

Put the hard work in closing down and getting back, but so far hasnt done much going forward, this is because he is being pushed out wide. Play him down the middle and he will produce, problem is lambert will hold that role all season, i think J rod is almost lamberts replacement, when rickie finishes in a few seasons J rod will have learnt a great deal and have prem experience.

Agree2 Disagree0

He's a striker, yet he's playing on the wing, im hopefully ramirez plays left wing and that means he can play centrally
