So kreuger thinks people always have fear of change. In my considered opinion fans never fear evolving development they just object to assert stripping decimation

I apologise if my post in response to Ed 033 was seen to be a swipe at him, it was certainly not meant to come over that way. I rightly or wrongly was trying to put the point of view that if we keep fuelling the fire with some supporters over their absolute belief that KL is selling up and the board don't care about the club. I just feel that if we keep on blaming the owner and the board it may have a serious detrimental effect on their commitment to deliver what they have promised. Once again I am sorry if my genuine concerns were seen as a criticism of Ed 033, I can truthfully assure you that was never my intention.

Anyone else seen the interview Krueger gave to the telegraph? He said that Koeman was involved in all outgoings and that they didn't want disgruntled players starting a season. He went on to say that they have been in control of the situation and the aim is to make the club a stable premier league club for years to come, not a yo yo team. He says that they are not going to sell the club and that there are still weeks left of the transfer window. They will not stop until we are in a stronger position player wise than last season. All very good and positive, what you think?

I thought that it came across as making excuses for the lack of players in. He repeats the same things about making the company stable blah blah. He almost made it sound that before they came in the club was floundering.
It reeks of the time under Lowe to me.

He's either not telling the truth or he's crazy!

Reina set for Bayern Munich, which I believe kills the rumour of Boruc leaving for that position. Not that I believed that would have happened with Boruc anyway.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is/was Reina not a Liverhampton player?

If so then they will need Boruc to join for £20m.

Hi Guys

IMO this board has sold this club down the swanee The more I get my head arround what's going on at St Mary's the more I am convinced no one at the club has any idea how to run a football club, there can't be any other explanation.

Think about it All the garbage coming out of southampton fc back in March/ April was MoPo and Les Reed were quite happy communicating on a daily basis about renewing MoPo's contract and future Targets for the new season. When aparently everyone including the kitchen staff new MoPo was looking for an exit due to the saint's board supossedly not honouring players bonuses agreed by NC and not guaranteeing not to sell players in the transfer window, IMO this lead to MoPo mistrusting the board and he conveyed his opinion to the players suggesting that the vision and dream of ML was over and now NC was no longer chairman it might be prudent to look at alternative clubs leading to the mass exodus we have at the present.

Since the end of the season the club has amassed arround £92 million in player sales, the silence from the saints board was deafening untill around the end of July when Mr Kruger informed us due to the hysteria of fans he thought it only right that no more players would be sold THIS SUMMER, ( that's not saying they won't be sold this winter ) with all that money and with the lack of quality left in the team you'd think that the club would be looking to purchase a few players as what's left won't get the team through the season. Well we have spent £18 million on two players and up to now every other player we have been linked to is for a season loan.

Where is the other £74 million why haven't we got marquee signings? time is running out no one we have bought in is as good as what we've sold we were told not to worry we have an excellent scouting system and we have numerous targets ready to sign, well where are they? More Les Reed BS The saints need at least one CB maybe two a GK another striker that's bare minimum the Acadamy players are not ready for the EPL I feel sorry for RK as I think he's been duped like the rest of us at the moment I can see jos Hooveld and may yoshida as our C Backs then god help us this board needs to step up or ship out

saints forever
disillusened

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be honest I am confused by this desperation to sign a massive number of players, we've lost 5 and gained 3 replacements of similar quality with several youth also looking ready to step up and take up some of the slack at least. To be honest a few signings should have us back to a pretty good strength, maybe not 8th place material but far better than the relegation doom and gloom I seem to hear every 30 seconds.

Agree0 Disagree0

This has to be the worst transfer window for saints ever? Or maybe the worst in football history for 1 team?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2014 22:32:01
well said saintsphil, we now have 4 signings saphir taider is on his way now, looks like we going to get a new keeper, personally I would prefer butland as a understudy to boruc, Artur boric was great last season probably our best player, get a couple more signings, Redmond for me and hernandez our stella signing, we will be ok, there will be a lot of worse teams than us in the league this year hats for sure, consolidate ourselves this year then push on next year. all this doom and gloom gives me the willies, come chaps get behind the saints and the board and of course ronald

Agree0 Disagree0

Scriv31, so what about a CB or more, do you honestly think what we currently have are good enough to play a whole season in the EPL? Jos certainly isn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikeysfc this could actually be the best transfer window for one team. What if the players we sold flop? Lambert yet to score (plus missed his first penalty ever), lallana now injured and Shaw not fit enough and overweight?
We are no in the horrific place that fans are saying.
I agree we other posts that we need to strengthen some positions but RK has stated that is happening so I'm being patient.

Agree0 Disagree0

The players we sold were settled before the board refused to pay them the bonus that they were working hard to achieve and were defiantly not flops for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2014 17:02:37
ok willsa saint, you are right, cb is needed, once celtic gets knocked out to night let's see what happens, just saying we are signing players, we still have a long transfer window, I bet we sign more players than we sell

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed033's Note - I'm sure everyone knows the following but, Southampton's best senior players left because they weren't paid the bonuses they were promised and weren't sure they could trust the board.

Other senior players then left because at that time they talked with those other senior players and believed:

a) With the best senior players gone, Southampton would struggle in the Premier league

b) With a perceived untrustworthy board (for not paying out promised bonuses), those senior players didn't know where they stood with the club

c) the board didn't appear to have a solid immediate future plan, meaning those senior player's were unsure of their immediate future

Southampton fans, ask yourself the following 2 questions:

1. Do the board now have a solid immediate future plan?

2. With the best senior players gone, will Southampton struggle to stay in the Premier league until they're replaced with players of similar or greater ability?

05 Aug 2014 21:23:19
With the greatest respect Ed 033 I find your comments a little scaremongering and how do you know what you have posted to be true or is it just an opinion? The Southampton supporters are feeling a little fragile at the moment and although I would agree that your summation is probably correct do you not think a small amount of hope for the future might be a good idea. I say this because as we are writing this several deals may be about to happen. If they don't come to fruition say in the next seven days then it is time to get pretty seriously concerned. No offence meant at all, honestly.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - sorry, i thought i was spelling out the facts (not opinion) as they were at the time the best senior players left.

If over the next couple of weeks it all gets sorted, that's great. Let's wait and see.

BTW, anyone feel free to use the contact form, if you would like to be the volunteer Ed for this Southampton site.

Maybe it wasn't the players fault for wanting to leave then. I would be totally p****d off if didn't get money that was agreed. Answer to your questions ed 1. no and 2. yes

Agree0 Disagree0

I tend to find when a sentence starts with the words "with the greatest respect" or "with all due respect" it's time to start gritting the teeth as the following message is likely to be the opposite.

Ed is just giving the facts (as far as are known). We've read all this stuff on here and in papers and other media outlets. Not sure why he should be getting any stick for re-iterating the facts.

We have got reason to be positive, with 5 gone and 3 replaced to a good level and new youth ready to step up our squad still looks very strong. We don't need a mass of signings, we lack in a few areas but not disastrously. A replacement for Dejan is the real issue for us after that should be all right.

Agree0 Disagree0

The best piece of business the board has managed is to appoint Koeman. I am hoping he becomes the manager to match his playing days and he can turn our beloved Saints into an exciting attacking expansive hardworking focused unit. worthy of the Southampton name. Right now though, it feels like a slow burning tragedy where there are no winners.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed033. Good summary - reading between the lines this is what I roughly thought, but good to have it confirmed.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the bonuses are part of a players contract then surely the board must pay what's due or they are in breach of contract?
Also I understand that the bonuses are paid in August for the previous season and Lambert, Shaw, Lallana etc all went before August.
And finally if my company failed to pay what was owed to me as part of my contract I'd have ACAS or whoever involved straight away.

thanks ed for your answer. the more I hear about saints, it seems cortese was not as good for the club as a lot of people think.
if it was all about unpaid bonuses can see why some players did what they did but could have shown a bit of loyalty at the same time.
forestsaint

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - How about this for some speculation. Cortese did his best to follow what M.L. wanted, which was to commit heavily financially to the club, which meant a lot of borrowing money.

The problems started when the family members that took over from M.L. at the time, didn't want to commit financially as much as M.L. did.

Southampton fans are now seeing the result of that lower financial commitment at that time.

Saint Dez, from what I've heard the bonuses promised were not in their contracts, they were promised these by Cortese, and it wasn't his money to give. The bonuses weren't approved by Liebherr who thought he was spending and promising away to much of her money, hence the falling out and him resigning.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2014 09:48:29
Saint Dez has shown that someone is looking at this "bonus issue" with a little intelligence.

If these "bonuses" were valid does no one understand that senior players have financial/legal representatives and "trade" organisations who would very quickly resolve matters for them?

It seems the "bonuses" were so valid that this could not be done. As I have said before, sounds to me like the manager at the office party offering the blond bimbo a "bonus" if she let him have his wicked way and then she is surprised afterwards that all she receives is her P45!

Anyone who has worked for any length of time knows that they need to examine very carefully any "bonus" offers as to whether they are contractually correct, and if they don't, and they are not, it is as much their responsibility as that of the person who made the offer.

I quite understand that some players may have been peed off for failing to clarify this situation and therefore losing out, but let's not be blinded to the fact that the players that have left have all moved for huge financial gain. Are they going to admit this-no. IMO this "bonus" issue is a smokescreen. None of us have the full facts but just ask why it is that Shaw was looking for a move way before there was any concern over "bonuses". Could it just be that £100k+/week had a little to do with it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed033 useful and pragmatic post

Samara's rumors continue. I can see the logic. Two six foot four strikers with new fast wide players feeding the danger zone in front of the keeper. Push into gap between defence and midfield when we don't have the ball ready for transition.

Are we only good at selling players we have brought through the academy or developed from the lower leagues?
Lambert, Lallana, Shaw, Chambers, Schiederlin, Rodriguez, Cork? And before that. Walcott, Chamberlin, Bale, Shearer etc, etc.
Our recent purchases (Loyal Lovren aside) not so good:
Ossvaldo (flipping joke record buy), Gaston (what has he actually done to deserve the price tag), Big Vic (how come no one's made a bid for him)?
I'm sorry to be degative but what is there to be positive about?
Hope to god this summer's buys (2+ 1 loan) prove better buys or lord help us

Guys and gals I am starting to have my doubts again after saints board not signing anyone yet thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt but wtf is going on? Where are all these high profile players that were knocking down the door to sign for us then reed? lol. Saints fans! can you smell something???

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was said over a month ago that the unveiling of our squad would be at the Leverkusen game so calm down, relax and wait for it to all work out.

Your words really aren't helping matters either, I understand your dismay; everyone does. Just keep it to yourself and if (or when in your opinion) the Saints fail to live up to your expectations at the end of the transfer window then by all means complain. As of now there is no reason to worry or post continually gloomy comments about our club.

Thank you.

I must say I am trying to be positive but finding it harder and harder. After the statement from last week which has led to nothing. Then to hear the board are potentially. Still not making decisions about anything. Then to hear that we have about 20 million to spend. I know its all conjecture. But. This is beginning to remind me of Lowe. I would expect even drawn out signings to be coming to a close soon and we are still hearing nothing. I am not and won't panic until the season is started but I am feeling a bit edgy now.
I keep hearing. From long term season ticket holders that they aren't renewing their tickets and to be fair I can understand why. The board need to inspire confidence and to get bums on seats. To hear that all they want to do is pay off everything despite the finances being nowhere near as bad as reported is worrying and reeks of a potential sale

Agree0 Disagree0

think part of the problem is that we need people
who understand football on the board
kl does nt understand football she is just a business woman
krueger is an ice hockey man does nt know how football works
as for reed I really do think he is way out of his depth and is not looking after saints interests
he is just a yes man and needs replacing how he ever
got his position at saints beggars belief
i sense things are going to get worse before they get
better hope I am wrong but I can see kl selling up

Wondering why on earth if we are interested and put bids in for forster + van dijk y we would let them bully us as to when they can sign eg after their champions league exploits. if they want the money they sign now or we go elsewhere with the money.

Is this the board showing lack of backbone or Celtic shooting themselves and us in the foot as both players clearly aren't performing as well as they by the margin they lost in leg 1 as their heads have clearly been turned they should have been signed weeks ago to gel and integrate into the team

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Newcastle have signed Lacelaas and Darlow from Nottingham Forrest for £5m, absolute bargain for those 2! Lots of potential their too, why are we not going for these deals, particularly in 2 positions we want to strengthen

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Still plenty of time for players to come in yet, if we have to start the season with Fonte/Yoshida at the back I think they'll manage just fine. My bet is Saints are trying to keep the CB deal under wraps as they want to get a good deal without the media potentially hyping a price up for the target/targets. Likewise they may be waiting it out towards the close of the window as other clubs will see their personal weaknesses, and players may become available for the right price. Expect the same situation for another striker, a right-sided winger and possibly right back to cover Clyne. Unless we sign Forster I think Boruc will continue to do a good job in between the sticks, just needs to work on his distribution some more!

Agree0 Disagree0

Moreover, what with our excellent scouting team, I feel we may have missed a trick here

We need players in the door I think Royston Drenthe could be a great player to get still only 27 spent last season at reading, had a horrific season but being Dutch I would like to think that RK could get the best out of him he was at one stage playing at Real Madrid and did well for Everton in PL, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed029's Note - You don't want Drenthe. He's lazy in training, very disruptive, big fallouts with team-mates, and more off field.
