fantastic performance and a really positive result and we deserved more! Thought Chambers and Cork were fantastic and good to see Harrison Reed come on and didn't look out of place, can't believe with that many changes we would put in such a good performance! Still think if a CB get's injured I'd be worried as I'm not sure Yoshida is up to it, but Hoiveld played well against Chelsea when he played and another keeper, Forster and Caulker would do nicely! And a winger with pace maybe Ince?

Well said, we have done incredibly well regardless of our injuries today. This shows that our squad at least has some depth.

Gazzaniga is growing better and better as a keeper and looks like perhaps he should be moving up to 2nd choice behind Boruc, Chambers looks to be great full back cover (arguably worth his place over Clyne?), Cork is a great player to have in support for Midfield and the fact we have a selection issue with our strikers is brilliant. Lambert, Rodrigues or Osvaldo with his wonder-strike.

The future's bright, the future's red and a small amount of white on the sleeves and socks.

It was a fantastic performance, if there was one thing though, I think that Osvaldo's goal covered up the fact that we are still not giving him the service he requires.
He had to beat at least four defenders on his own and strike a perfect wonder goal to draw the game. With the right service I think he will score a hat full as he did in Italy.
Work to be done but it was a great result for us and the guys that came in all did a tremendous job.

^ the problem is, we're still playing like we do with Lambert in the team when he isn't, we need to play through balls to Dani instead of giving it to him and asking him to hold it up like Rickie

Our % of total passes carried out in the final third was the lowest in the BPL this weekend.
Your right Danni needs that killer through ball, over the top or along the floor.

I find it funny that with all the Osvaldo rumors, no-one has mentioned the interview he did that was in the Saints-Villa program. He lifts the lid on several issues that have effected his performance, such as a niggling back problem that has effected him since he arrived and a lack of fitness caused by having a poor pre-season.

It wasn't all bad news though, since he is loving life on the south coast, and loving life in the Premier League. It's a great interview, and for all Saints fans it's well worth a read.

Oh, and for all those people that are slating Osvaldo, this just goes to make a point - you should try to get all the facts before you start complaining about the players you're supposed to be supporting

Completely agree, same with Gaston IMO

Perhaps after his wonder strike to get us level the moaners will get off osvaldos back.

Osvaldo has 3 goals in a gametime which only adds up to 6 and a half full games, he's very good technically showing today with that strike aswell

As much as I can see Gaston has a ludicrous amount of skill, he isn't getting any game time. Without game time, he isn't going to get used to the league.

For me Gaston is trying too hard when he does play. Rather than trying to work his way into the game, he tries to do too much, too soon, and the net result is a player that is performing below par that can't string two passes together.

When Gaston plays for Uruguay, he seems to play a slightly deeper role. He wins, or receives the ball, and passes it on. His game is based on simplicity with the odd trick.

It seems that for his club, he plays in the exact opposite manor to the way he plays for his country.

I have an awful lot of patience regarding Gaston. The lad is so young, but has had a torrid time at Southampton, and along with that, he's had serious personal problems due to family issues.

Nobody can doubt Gaston's ability, but signs of that on the pitch in a Saints shirt have been all too fleeting.

Sometimes signings just don't work out, and it looks likely that this could well be one of them. If Gaston can grab his chances and work his way into the team, then great. If not, we won't have lost anything - Gaston will move on and Saints will utilize the funds received for Gaston to replace him. Either way, Saints will end up stronger.
