CELTIC midfielder Victor Wanyama - once linked with a move to Newcastle United - is a target for Southampton and Liverpool, according to reports today.

The Premier League duo both want to sign the 21-year-old defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama, reports the Daily Mirror.

Wanyama was linked with a move to Newcastle United last summer, after the Kenyan made a massive impact in his first season at the Glasgow giants.

Hopefully the Saints can persuade him to Join. Celtic can have Steven Davis as part of the deal!

Stephen Davis has been great for us this season and has provided the squad some good experience and leadership. Frankly I'd like him to stay. Not sure how good Wanyama really is but I imagine the allure of the Premiership would make him interested in Southampton and Liverpool himself. At saints he'd have a greater chance of making the first team, although not without competition because we have some great centre mids already.

As for Celtic, well he may want to stay for the European ambition but that is something Cortese is good at selling from a Southampton viewpoint for the future and many players (not all) would love the opportunity to join the Premiership even if it meant giving up European football.

Steve davis won't go to celtic he's a rangers man and would never go to celtic

MP has confirmed to press that if saints are offered Europa League place through Fair play league table it will be declined. This is because Poch believes that a place in Europe should only be won through a high league finish.

For striker cover what does everyone think of Charlie Austin or Jordan Rhodes both have been on fire in the championship this year!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Austin to me seems better, but I can't see us taking another striker from Burnley

Agree0 Disagree0

So we bring in an Argentinian manager with good contacts in European and S. American football, who is already moulding the team to play with the sort of flair we would expect from that background, but he is going shopping for strikers in the Championship?
Can't see it myself. Believe his ambition, and that of NC, is a lot greater than that! (Apart, perhaps, for some young prospects to add to the under 21/18 sides. )

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodrigues and Clyne both came from the championship, do you reckon they've been bad signings Saint Martin? Both score loads and look like they're capable of becoming top prem players

Agree0 Disagree0

Clyne was a great signing and he was obviously destined for top flight with the likes of Manchester United competing for his signature.

Jay Rod works hard but for me, he needs to step up a lot more to retain a place. He's still young so plenty of potential but for £6m - £7m I wouldn't expect anything less than what he is.

I agree with saint Martin that I fully expect some European diamonds in the rough to get snapped up.

Agree0 Disagree0

You say that but our best signings this season are all brittish fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jay Rod and Ramirez have both equally shown glimpses of brilliance but been underwhelming in my eyes.

Clyne was the best signing but along with him our best players this season have been the same lads we had in league 1 - Lambert, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Puncheon.

Shaw is very exciting as are some other youngsters on the fringes I expect to see next season.

For me, Schneiderlin is rising toward world class.

It is all very exciting - just get rid of dead wood like Fox, Guly and other Championship standard players and get some decent defensive signings, then we'll easily be top 12 hopefully in with a shout of top 6.

this might be one of the few seasons where 40 points isn't enough.
southampton need to win at LEAST one of their games. i'd say win both to be safe. squeaky bum time.

I'd say if we can't beat either Sunderland or Stoke who I watched last night we deserve to go down. They are both truely aweful. I think a point at Sunderland would be a good result - we cannot lose that game! Anything can happen against Stoke. I can see Crouchy relegating us with an 89th minute header.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see the players running themselves into the ground for the club and fans and I think we could win both games. Sunderland have significant suspensions and injuries so that is easer than it would have been otherwise

Agree0 Disagree0

38 is a likely points total for a relegated side actually. If we beat Sunderland they will be on 38 points with Tottenham as their only game left. Norwich are on 38 with West Brom and Manchester City left, and while Wigan have 3 left, they are against Swansea, Arsenal and Aston Villa with only 35 points on the board so far so potential for only 3 more to be taken. But yeah we need to beat Sunderland I think.

If Wigan win tonight, and there is a good chance they will, then we're only one point off the relegation zone. Our last two matches will become must win matches if they win.

So if Wigan lose tonight and we beat Sunderland were safe?
Watching the game last night, if we can't take points of
what's left of Sunderland's team at the weekend then there is something seriously wrong!, luck dosn't come into it!. Hopefully Jason has had a good sleep and will start!. I don't think much of Stoke but their defence is well organised and I hate to think about us racing about after them trying to score on the last day, better to finish speculation on Sunday and have a stress free last day-hopefully its that simple!

If we beat Sunderland, we are safe regardless. We each have 2 games left and we are 1 point ahead of them, so with a win we go 4 points clear of relegation with only 3 points left to play for.
