West Brom have appointed former Real Betis manager Pepe Mel as their new head coach on an 18-month deal.
Lets hope that he doesn't speak any English and none of the team know what he is talking about for Saturday!

This does mean all their players will be going all out to impress the new manager this saturday. They are very unlikely to be a push over for us. Could be a tight game but let's hope the quality of our side can out do the desire to impress on theirs.

According to Poch, we are not currently looking to bring anyone in. He did however say there are 22 days left so if the situation changed at any point until the close then he may seek someone but currently he has no reason to look.

Poch is being smart. Of course he doesn't want to alert agents that we are looking and therefore be pushed into paying inflated prices. Staying low but keeping options open.

I have to say to bring nobody in would be naive. Cortese has stated he wants Europe in a season or two, to get there we need to consistently build the squad, yes its better to do so in the summer, but a good buy in january can boots morale. I mean out of the fans who wouldn't want to see at least one new signing.

Agree withfirt commet all poch is doing is being quiet at who his targets if he has any are like with osvaldo he said we wernt intrested a week later we signed him wether you like osvaldo signing for us the way MP did it was very clever and i'm sure that could be the same if somthing does come up hopfully a cb and a winger

We're past the halfway stage for this season, and so far from a Saints perspective, it has gone brilliantly. Like a dream I'd say.
So, (and I hope this kinda thing is appropriate and allowed on this site) here's my PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM OF THE SEASON (so far) DREAM TEAM XI:
1. Artur Boruc
2. Seamus Coleman
3. Luke Shaw
4. Vincent Kompany (first six or seven games of the season especially, he was superb, flawless)
5. Dejan Lovren (signing of the season, and probably by quite some distance)
6. Yaya Toure
7. Luis Suarez
8. Mesut Ozil
9. Wayne Rooney
10. Aaron Ramsey
11. Adam Lallana
subs: Tim Krul, Per Mertesacker, John Terry, Yohan Cabaye, David Silva, Alvaro Negredo, Rickie Lambert!
Manager: Roberto Martinez.
A few top players just missing out, but those players have thrilled me this season and really done great for their teams. Lovely to be able to list so many Saints too!

{Ed018's Note - where's Eden Hazard?}
My Premiership team of the season so far would have Rooney out of the side with Negredo coming into the starting 11 and Hazard taking the bench spot. Lambert would be out in favour of Lukaku and Terry would be dropped in favour of Ashley Cole.

Yes, where's Eden Hazard? I "heard" he was a Saints supporter as a lad, feels because he can't beat Shaw he should join him, and therefor I suspect he MUST be our next signing and that's why he was seen on the M3 within the past 3 years, and because he is so desperate to join we will get him for next to nothing! Shame we don't have some Saints supporters in the press because then it would be definite! LOL
PS. That virus I caught on the Chelsea site still seems active.

How's Shaw in anyone's team?
He's missed plenty of games through injury/illness and often comes off at half time feeling poorly.
His mum probably sends him to training with a note saying "nothing physical today for Luke as he has an upset tummy".

^agree RE Shaw. Great talent for an 18 year old but missed a chunk of games an no where near best LB in the league this season. Maybe next, he still have plenty of time.

Lloris!? LondonSaint, he's obviously a quality keeper but as spurs have lost 5-0 to Liverpool and City I don't think he'd take that number 1 spot!

^ don't judge a 'keeper on goals conceded, defence is usually the fault of 90% of goals

Sorry but I stick with Lloris! One game doesn't make/break a player, he's still kept the second most clean sheets. Also v l'pool (from memory. ?!) he faces double digits in shots and made half a dozen decent saves. And Suarez is lethal if you him something to aim at.
All this playing in front of a fairly average back four (In my opinion Dawson is past it, Walker goes missing and Danny rose isn't a prem player). His 'sweeper keeper' approach is pivotal and meant they had one of the meanest defences in Europe for much of the early part if the season.
I hope that provides some reasoning behind my choice, even if you don't agree! Must admit it was close between Lloris and Krul but Lloris nicks it for doubling up as a fairly efficient sweeper.
