I have heard a few pieces of transfer news related to Southampton for targets in January.

Mark Andre Ter Stegen (GK, 20 years old, German)
Kyriakos Papadopoulos (CB, 20 years old, Greek)
Hideki Ishige (CM, 18 years old, Japanese)
Domenico Bernardi (CF, 18 years old, Italian)

Sounds like we're going for youngsters to add to our squad again. Can't help thinking we should at least get Dawson for a bit more experience... What does everyone else think of these players? Or who else are targets? Or in face who else Should be targets?

Id love all of them but i agree we surely need some experience at the back dawson, caulker has a bit, cieran clark would be good or even scott dann and what about gary hooper?

Agree3 Disagree1

I would hate to see Scott Dann, he's struggling in the Championship. Equally think Hooper would be a mistake. He is working fine for himself at Celtic and is not quite up to the Premier League. Dawson or Caulker should be the target to go with these and potentially another winger/attacking player to act in as a good back up to Puncheon, Ramirez and Lallana. Possibly Jermaine Lens or Thomas Ince or players like them.

Ter stegen amazin ten times the keeper gazza is

Agree with above post 100%. Also need an experienced GK most of all

Agree5 Disagree1

I think you under-rate Gazzaniga. Yes he's made mistakes but he's also made some top standard saves. I think with Ter Stegen and Kelvin Davis at the club he'll improve a fairly large amount. Become a great 2nd choice to Ter Stegen.

Agree6 Disagree2

Yea but Gazza is a bit untrustworthy so i agree with them a biy. Are there any sources for the original post?

Agree1 Disagree1

Im not underatin gazza but Ter Stegen is much better I rate Gazza very highly

Agree3 Disagree1

To clarify, the post that starts...'I would hate to see'...not the incomprehensible one above

All these palyers are wonderkids on Football Manager!!

Gazzaaniga is a quality keeper for his age. has a big future ahead of him. dont write him off yet.

2 rumours doing the rounds in the papers today:
Scott Dann from Blackburn
Gary Hooper from Celtic

Both were around in the summer neither happened. Personally will be suprised if they happen in January either.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Wouldn't mind hooper, would rather dawson to dann though

Agree2 Disagree3

Don't want us to go for either...

Not Hooper. JRod is coming good now, Mayuka looks like he could be awesome soon and let's not forget T Lee. If Lee fails to play we recall Sharp who is stills scoring goals, no matter how you try to stop him. We have excellent, proven strikers. We need a GK and a solid defender who can pass, which rules out Dann.

Agree9 Disagree2

A solid defender who can pass probably rules out Dawson as well. He's more of a 'hoof the ball' defender.

I reckon we'll sign a minimum of 2, and probably 3 players. Will be exciting to see who we get. Most importantly though, I don't want to see us wait until the last week of the transfer window to do deals. We need back up now, and players need time to gel with their new team mates, and become comfortable with the team philosophy.

Gotta say Billy Sharp is playing excellent for Forest not the highest scoring record but good work rate and not had the greatest supply. Hope we sign him permanent would hate to see him go back.

Agree2 Disagree2

Sharp is a good player. If he does come back I hope he is up to the job, although he wont get games very often.

T Lee could be brilliant. He is obviously very talented and from Youtube he looks very much like a natural poacher as well, he scores a huge variety of goals. Let's just hope he turns it on soon.

Re defenders who can pass and play well positionally, I think this is very important. We have given the ball away too many times in dangerous positions. This is where we drop points, not because we can't tackle.

Commanding the box is the keepers job, and hopefully this will improve too with a new signing or Gaza getting more experience, although he does still look a bit shaky and defenders don't seem to want to pass the ball to him.

Apparently we've been scouting Scott Dann all season, and will now make a six million pound bid for him...

Believable6 Unbelievable7

His agent must be getting desperate!

I hope we are not interested, and stick to the policy of bringing in bright, young talent to be part of the clubs future.

I don't hold with the "must have some experience" philosophy. Just take a look at Luke Shaw. Yes, youndsters will make some mistakes but the right ones will make relatively few and will add so much more to the squad. Besides, the policy of developing youth within the club is not helped if you then start changing that policy and buying in experience.

Agree8 Disagree2

Although I agree with what you're saying about young player we defo need some Premier League experience in CB, it will sure up, our much improved back 4 and I think Michael Dawson is the player to do that, we need a solid structure in the team to help young player come through.

Agree4 Disagree1

We've been following him for a while now, maybe get him a bargin price now

We need a solid CB and a decent GK. The rest of the squad I am pretty happy with. I actually wouldn't put anyone we have been linked with straight into the team as a full back, in midfield or up front.

Also, I love seeing our young wing backs shutting down the top wingers in the PL. Shaw is the new Bale and Clyne is the new Cole.
