Couple of people I know at Penyards in Winchester reckon Koeman has some viewings booked with them on Monday, not sure how true it is but it's 100% bang on according to them, if there's a way to post photos I will

Dodgy sightings?

Agree4 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - You can send pictures in at the bottom of this page.

I work in Winchester and know that commute to Southampton and back is bad enough everyday, let alone getting to Staplewood. I think someones having you on mate.
A lot of new startes at Saints (players etc) are put up in the Grand Harbour for a while until they find a place.

Just looked at there website. They have propertys outside winchester. From Romsey to the Meon Valley so seems plausible

Agree3 Disagree1

Hope it's sorted as I don't want a bad manager, we need it sorted before Monday Coyr. Get koeman in and then convince the players to stay.

Agree4 Disagree6

Hope we get koeman

Agree5 Disagree5

Alot of the saints players live in winchester, so don't see why it can't be true, for example steve davis and artur boruc both live in winchester

Agree3 Disagree2

TimTasker94 - forgive me, my knowledge of players houses isn't the greatest but I am a bit warey of the fact Koeman has a veiwing in Winchester when I'm sure he hasn't heard of the place before. I do wish it was true

Agree1 Disagree1

What a surprise no image?, Coyr sign up koeman, before Monday. Hope we get him. As we need a decent boss and he's the best option. We need a boss by weds at latest and get koeman in saints just sort it and announce it Coyr please

Agree1 Disagree5

Post the image if u have one?

Agree1 Disagree6

Adkins used to live in Winchester. Used to play darts at the county arms. Given Winchester's history I would not be at all surprised if he knows about the place.

Agree4 Disagree0

ED who do u think will be boss? Will u post the picture?

Agree0 Disagree4

{Ed007's Note - Steve Bruce. Any pictures sent in will be posted Stevo, as long as they are appropriate.}

Apparently Koeman and Saints are still trying to agree a transfer budget between them - that is what is holding up the appointment.

Believable12 Unbelievable10

Don't think my statement of June 11th stands anymore as of the 13th. It ain't Koeman.

Lovren hands in formal transfer request according to talk sport, what going on?

Believable7 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - It would not be out of the question for Lovren to move on this summer and with Southampton showing an interest in Caulker the club are likely expecting offers. Interest is there from Roma and Liverpool and even Barcelona may be keeping a watching brief. Liverpool had a verbal offer rejected as being far too low for the player. Spurs are looking for two centre backs and will, with their new manager, also look to Lovren. This should not be a shock - you were told weeks ago but the site was then occupied by idiots who were feeding misinformation.}

Ed 002 - you can lead a fool to wisdom but you can't make him think. Some fans still seem to be wearing blinkers.

Agree with Ed completely. A massive shame as he has been an excellent signing and would be missed.

Agree7 Disagree2

Wasn't Lovren the first one to public ally come out and say he was happy at Southampton and wasn't looking to move?

Agree21 Disagree0

So now is the time to steady the Saints ship and get our new manager in and bring some stability to all!

Agree8 Disagree0

Talksport got that from the Daily Fail so make of it what you will. We need a new manager asap so all the players stop handing in transfer requests, its getting stupid now.

Agree12 Disagree0

I just hope if he does go he leaves the country double gutted if he goes to spurs

Agree6 Disagree1

11 Jun 2014 19:06:54
So how many you reckon will go out of our first 11 this summer. Media thinks all of them I think this makes it 4 very likely to be off including Lambert and that's not including schniederlin as well. We will have a shedload of cash but as we see at spurs last year its hard to gel a team straight away and we didn't finish 5th the season before or just lose 1 player hmm

Agree3 Disagree1

Ed - totally agree, I got blasted for even mentioning lovern was one of 3 or 4 to go. It is easier to bury your head in the sand.

Agree4 Disagree2

I said a while back that lovren leaving woukd be more of a blow than lallana. hope he decides to stay if manager in soon. Him and caulker would be a quality pairing

Agree4 Disagree0

Gregg, just a polite point, lovren was recently quoted as saying he was happy at saints and was up to the board if they want to sell. You shouldn't have been offended if some fans hit the dislike button when saying lovren was wanting to leave

Agree6 Disagree1

This story was broken by Neil Ashton of the Daily mail, not saying it isn't true but take it with a pinch of a salt. This same journalist has been posting supposed "meltdown" stories about Saints all post-season. It seems coincidental that this breaks a day after a positive statement from Reed.

Agree6 Disagree0

Lovren quote
I follow the media and I saw that Liverpool is allegedly interested in me. But that is all that I know so far.

I feel great at Southampton and my contract is valid for the next three years.

So the only thing I can say right now is that the club is the one who decides.

Agree6 Disagree1

11 Jun 2014 23:15:14
Please please chill out! The press are trying to destabilise the club. ride it out and you will be amazed at the next stage of progression the club makes, we could well finish in the top 5 next season, 2015-2016 season top 4!

Agree5 Disagree0

Saintsmiff - I didn't take offence, just been on the receiving end for sharing knowledge from within, knowledge I now largely hold back. It's not that I mind the dislike or disagree button but I am not just writing stuff for the sake of it. I would love to say they all want to stay for the rest of their career but lovern's head was turned weeks ago. On the plus side if the figures I am hearing are right we will make a massive profit.

Agree2 Disagree1

To ed and Greg, to all the information you have given, all I asked is why? But I haven't seen a satisfactory response. Again, I will reiterate, it will be very hard for a fan to accept all the information you have provided, without a reason.
If I remember rightly, you said lovren is wanted by Liverpool and that the club 'need to raise £60m' over the course of the summer.
Lovren handed a transfer request in as he wanted champions league. I feel the board will want him to stay. I will be surprised if the club sell to spurs, given they are not in the champions league.
Not having a go, but after les reeds interview, I'm struggling to see where the club is heading.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea which Editor this is aimed at. Liverpool made a verbal offer for Lovren which was far from acceptable to Southampton. It would not be a surprise to see an offer from Spurs.

I have not said anything about any £60M.}

Ed - do you have any information whether this actually is a FORMAL transfer request, or is it pure speculation based upon this reported e-mail (which I assumed was a 'move forward or let me go' ultimatum)?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - His representative has confirmed that a transfer request has been submitted.}

Lovren was not actually someone I metioned as certain to go. that was shaw and lallana and from what I understand that is still the case. Lovern is different as he feels (I would agree) he is good enough for a higher level. as I have said in another post, it is not doom and gloom, its business. investment will still come and players will be sold.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Jun 2014 15:40:41
Remember Lovren was subject to a very detailed analyses by Saints ahead of his transfer to enable a weakness identified in the team last season by MP to be rectified. This worked extremely well.

Will another manager see him as vital to his plans? Impossible to know at this stage, as we don't know who that will be yet. IMO the new manager may still see Lovren as key and fight hard to keep him, or he might have other ideas about CBs. Where I think Lovren is different to some of the other players who may go is that there is no chance that he can be replaced internally so I would expect the club to be pretty careful about letting him go and will want to be able to bring in a quality replacement. Not sure that the names suggested so far would fit that description.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was aiming the 60m gregge way. Not trying to offend, just saying what I feel, when somebody says somebody's leaving, or being sold, it's hard to understand the reason why if no reason is given. Lovren leaving for champions league is fair, he has done very well and IMO a CL player. But I thought he would have stayed one more year, rather than hand in a transfer request. Surely playing at saints can't be that bad? Hopefully the new manager can attract other top players

Agree1 Disagree0

Id love Mancini at th he club! He could get the best out of osvaldo! Would be a massive gain! Plus he'd attract top players and not forgetting be able to persuade lallana and shaw this is the right club to be at.

id also like to point out that he is a very good manager! High profile like the club stated! And les reed stated in an interview yesterday that their was a stumbling block with the manager maybe the club he was at was tge only stumbling block?

even so i'm not going to get excited until the manager is announced. because its only betting odds atm butsomeone must know something in order for his odds to drop so quickly. Maybe i'm being optimistic

up the saints

Believable5 Unbelievable13

Logical - hasn't got a good reputation for working with youth though has he?

Agree13 Disagree0

I would agree he is a big name, but I remember when he left Man City all the players complained about his 'lack' of man management skills and they didn't want to play for him in the end. PLUS, he's not been recognized for playing youth, the complete opposite - he likes to spend! I'll leave it up to Les and the Board, they know best but I just don't think it'll be Mancini - we also couldn't afford him! (He was on more than 5 times what we pay at Man City)

Agree9 Disagree0

For me, I just don't see how Mancini fits in to the 'Southampton Way' that Reed and Krueger keep preaching about. At no point during his time at Inter or City did he give youth a chance or significantly developed any young players. In addition he known for being tactically astute but in a results focussed way, at times sacrificing playing style or entertainment for a result. He's been successful yes, but with big budgets and big name international players. Top that off with an enormous wage demand following spells at City and Galatasaray, and you've got yourself a number of reasons why appointing him would completely contradict a lot of what the board have been saying.

Agree10 Disagree0

11 Jun 2014 16:48:10
I want Koeman he is made for it

Agree12 Disagree2

I don't think Mancini is well suited to us but, it makes a hell of a statement if we get someone of Mancini's quality, this will attract players and will no doubt show our own players that we want to be in the Champions league, although I'd prefer Koeman as I think he is better suited to us, but I wouldn't be 100% sure about players staying if he came

Agree6 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - you might find it wouldn't go down well with the players. Certainly one player whose team was linked to him, said that the whole team were really unhappy with the idea of his appointment. They even went so far as to speak to the board and ask for them to look elsewhere. The club didn't appoint him but I have no idea if that was the cause of him not moving there or if it was his huge wage demands, but certainly a number of players do not like Mancini at all. Apparently he is very abrasive to deal with and disliked by the vast majority of people he has worked with. I would worry that appointing him would see more of an issue in seasons to come.}

Mancini would be an awful appointment can't stand him it wouldn't be the southampton way it would be the Mancini way, all about him piss poor man management skills no way would he bring the youth though and we would be in a lot of debt by the time he gets sacked, no thanks! need koeman asap so he can sit down with the transfer request brigade, which soon is gona be the whole team! come on saints sort it out

Agree8 Disagree0

Can't see Mancini coming to much of a risk in my eyes, still like to see Claude Puel come in or Tuchel

Agree1 Disagree3

The odds for Mancini have come down yes much like magath, Ranieri and others in recent times. Only down to the fact he left his club.

Agree4 Disagree0

Greg, who do you think, if you were a betting man, would be our next manager, and where do you see saints in 5 years?

Agree1 Disagree0

Hi Saintsmiff. I am a betting man and from noise from st Mary's I back koeman very early. Only £10 but I knew Adkins was going long before he did and had a bet on the sack race. Didn't win though as someone got sacked in between. I honestly believe in 5 years we could be battling top 6. As long as the academy keeps producing. KL and her team have a view to pay off the debt and training conplex with a handful of sales this summer (lallana and shaw for sure) and use tv money to build (we could get a player of lallana quality for 20 million at a younger age) and from then on sell one player a season who excels either as profit or from academy to further enhance our youth set up and sign players. Shirt term will be painful but there is a good sustainable plan going forward. All the best.

Agree5 Disagree1

So ED has lovren handed in a request? I hope not but if he has I hope we can convince him to stay, any closer to new manager?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It would not be out of the question for Lovren to move on this summer and with Southampton showing an interest in Caulker the club are likely expecting offers. Interest is there from Roma and Liverpool and even Barcelona may be keeping a watching brief. Liverpool had a verbal offer rejected as being far too low for the player. Spurs are looking for two centre backs and will, with their new manager, also look to Lovren.}

I would be disapointed if he choose spurs after the "I want champions league football"

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Greg, I hope that is the way the club is heading. Athletico Madrid do it and look where they are now. Saints have to look long term.
