ssn are reporting that according to their sources a bid for Shaw for £27 million has been placed by Manchester United. Both clubs have yet to confirm the offer.

"Just a matter of time I suppose. "
This is where we find out the shape of things to come. This transfer window is probably going to be one of the most important in our history. It'll either precede us rising higher then ever before, or foreshadow consolidation or worse, capitulation.

It begins.

{Ed004's Note - It is probably worth it so that we can get Januzaj back from his pocket}

Also by all reports shaw is in england squad

I can just imagine managers knocking on the Saints dressing room after the games asking if they can have their players back.

Nice one Ed004

Agree1 Disagree0

It is very important we keep our best players if we are to attract to top talent to the club so I don't expect anyone to leave. The fact that seven of our players at least will be at the World Cup can only help matters in the transfer market. We won't be in for Cavani obviously but we should be able to improve on last seasons performance in the market, hopefully.

Agree3 Disagree3

Lets not be naive: players dictate transfers nowadays, not clubs. Saints can't sit back and decide not to sell. All a club can do is negotiate a deal as best they can. Look at how Spurs had to sell Bale eventually.

I think TJ posted that this would be a turbulent summer and he is right. Worst case scenario: MoPo goes to Spurs, Shaw leaves, Lallana leaves for Liverpool, Morgan to Arsenal, Chambers to Man City.

I don't think this will happen. MoPo was evasive about his position and I am not convinced that he will sign a new contract. Some pretty strong rumours that he is waiting to see what will happen. However, I suspect he is waiting to getting a signal from the club about how much money is available to spend.

Shaw told the club he wanted to leave some time ago, so I think that is going to be the high profile sale. Just will happen a lot faster than anyone thought. Mixed messages from the Lallana camp.

At the moment, there isn't a lot of definite evidence coming out of the club, players, or agents. The main reason for that is uncertainty within the club - very few decisions have been made.

Lets talk about who we would like to see at saints. All we have heard is our players are leaving and we are going to crumble. Saying we kept pochettino and the first 11 what additions would be great. I think the obvious is a Striker whether or not he will take Lamberts place that's what I think should happen with lambert becoming the impact sub, this player needs to be reasonably fast but mainly strong and good in the air, maybe a Bony or Ba or possibly Welbeck would be perfect for this role. Also players with BPL experience is crucial. Also a GK that I believe should become back up to Boruc but not sure who (who do u guys think?) Back up striker maybe Caulker and I was thinking a Plan B to Davis maybe Redmond or Townsend

Ings, lukaku or bony

Defence:
Aymeric Laporte, central defender from Athletic Club (enormous release clause but potentially could be bought for around 15 million)
OR
Samuel Umtiti, central defender from Olympiqe Lyon (potentially bought for around 8 million)

Midfield:
Rémy Cabella, attacking midfielder from HSC Montpellier (potentially bought for around 15 million)

Forward:
Lucas Piazón, left sided attacking player returning to Chelsea at the end of the season on loan fr Vitesse (potentially 8 million)
OR
Danny Ings, striker from Burnely ( potentially around 7 million)

Signing any of these players would be excellent but I am not concerned either way, Southampton have been brilliant this season and will only get better through the next :)
Stay cheery Saint's fans!

I have heard a couple of interesting things whilst at the game today from an exceptionally reliable source that I thought I ought to share.

Pochettino is expected to sign a new contract tomorrow. My source said that preliminary discussions have already taken place, and it should just be a case of rubber stamping the deal, but it could be a couple of weeks before the news is released.

Secondly I heard the main reason that Adkins was replaced was that Adam Lallana went to Cortese with concerns regarding the quality of training.

Third of my rumours is that Kelvin Davis has pretty much retired from playing. What I've heard is that he may be used in cup games next year, but will be retained by the club as part of the back room set-up - so expect a new keeper at Southampton this summer.

Finally Saints have no intention of selling any of their wanted players, but there is a feeling that certain clubs could make offers that would be extremely hard to turn down.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

That's good drop lallana in it, he's on his way anyway.

Agree4 Disagree4

Great info St Christopher. You've always had a level head with your posts, so it shall be nice to see this come to fruition. Let's hope Poch gets a nice sum of transfer money to spend alongside that contract.

Agree2 Disagree2

Lallana spoke to Cortese as captain, so not really dropping anyone in it.

Agree2 Disagree1

Much as I love Ricky lambert, the last 1/4 against man united he was shattered, how will he cope in all that heat in brazil if picked.

Agree3 Disagree4

Another post, another account less poster saying lallana is leaving and this time coming back to hammer Lambert. This is getting silly.

Great points St Christopher, thanks for the info. All sounds pretty reasonable. I think the 'big' clubs will be taking the micky a little with their bids, at least at first. We should set high prices for these players because they are worth a hell of a lot to us if we can keep them. Fingers crossed they do stay this summer and Poch's contract is wrapped up soon. Sounds like there is a great vision present here again, let's hope it stays that way.

Agree1 Disagree1

Hi does this sound likely ED 002?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can't answer "likely" questions but woud think it is all nonsense.}

I have heard that other clubs are interested in some of our young stars

C'mon we all know that. The real issue will be if we can persuade them to stay.

This will be down to the management team explaining to us the fans, and demonstrating to the current squad that we will improving our team with some quality signings and stating our intention to go for a top four finish.

Am I being over optimistic? Too ambitious perhaps. If we do not get that sort of statement and those new players them Poch, Adam and the rest will be off for sure.

Its down to Liebherr and the new guys. A big moment in saints future is I believe .

Agree0 Disagree0

Ricky lambert won't come on until late in a game for England. I agree he put so much into Sunday's game he could hardly walk let alone run near the end of the game.

Been told today at the game that Pochettino, jose Fonte and jack cork are all meant to be signing new contracts with the club to tie them down for a decent time period.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

I hope so mp needs to stay he's a class manager same with cork ever since we signed him back he has been solid and class when playing with morgan and fonte I know he makes a few mistakes at times but him and lovren have been quality all year

Agree6 Disagree2

Hope so. Within this week?

Agree1 Disagree1

That would be great news.
as everyone is saying, of all the chat, MoPo is the most important one to keep as if we lose others, he will attract replacements.

secondly Corky is a massive player for us to keep. would be stupid to let him go. been great again this season, I prefer him to VW (who is decent but my god he makes stupid challenges and cannot pass to save his life).

Agree2 Disagree0

Was told this yesterday by a steward at the game in the kingsland stand and also there maybe possibilities that more people will be signing in again roday
