According to reports, Chelsea are planning to sign Kurt Zouma for £10million in January and assuming they pull it off, are willing to listen to offers for young English Centre back Nathaniel Chalobah. Southampton have put in an offer but he can only join after his loan with Forest is over on January 15th 2014 as well as obviously drawing interest from other clubs who also have put in bids.
I don't think he would get into our starting 11 at the moment but possibly one for the the future.
Great young english player, would be perfect!
Doesn't chalobah play more as a midfielder now?
Chalobah is a canter midfielder, not a center back.
He's both a CB and DMC. Would provide excellent cover and competition in both positions.
He would be behind Cork, Wanyama and Steve Davis at CDM and they are not old.
If we were to take any kid from Chelsea, I would far rather have Ruban Loftus-Cheek. He is someone tipped to go to the very top of the game, but we all know that it wouldn't happen all the time he's at Chelsea - since he doesn't get enough game time to develop into the player he could be.
If you want an young center-back why not go for either Jack Stephens or Jordan Turnball? Both very highly rated I understand.
On second thoughts, if we want a Center back that's ready to play first team football, why not just compete with Chelsea for Kurt Zouma?
If we we're going to sign any young centre back then I'd rather have Rugani from Empoli or Romagnoli from Roma maybe even Denswil from Ajax. But as St Chris already said, we have Stephens and Turnbull who're great
Zouma is a really strong centre back but I still favour Umtiti over him, especially since he'd pair up with Lovren and wouldn't be as expensive.
How aabout Eric dier from Porto (I think) young and English looks a good prospect
I think he's at Sporting Lisbon, but would be a great signing! A good young english player who's been trained abroad, he's an interesting prospect!
If Stephens and Turnbull are good, why do our U21s leak a lot of goals? And Pochettino never used them on preseason tour, so he's not convinced.
We desperately need a quality Centre back if we want to dream of getting in the top four.
