Well we knew it would happen, so it would seem Morgan's protracted move to United will be confirmed tomorrow.

Saints are pushing to get the Clasie deal over the line to sweeten the loss.

I'm confident he'll be a good replacement, will certainly boost our creativity centrally. Similarly to Morgan he's a very good reader of the game, so Vic can be the hard hitter and Clasie can handle the interceptions!

Hopefully we look to sign or loan in another defensive midfielder as further cover to go with Harrison Reed and Steven Davis.

Seems done and dusted, Schneiderlin to United, £25+m. Good luck to him. Wish he'd stayed, but you can't deny that he gave his all for seven years. Apart from those couple of days where he got a bit stroppy last summer.

At least he hasn't gone to Spurs.

I'd be happy with Clasie - he's a very good footballer - but I'm worried that Saints' midfield is incredibly lightweight now. Wanyama apart (and he'll miss games with suspension and injuries), all the other midfielders in the squad and the U21 are feeble midgets.

I presume the fact Saints tried to sign Imbula and Gueye is an indicator that the club are aware that there's a lack of physical presence in the middle of the park. Hopefully there's someone else lined up as well as Clasie (who is also tiny).

Xavi iniesta rakitic made a decent feeble midget midfield last season.

We may want to look for a another left back that cuco Martina has had some bad reviews on twitter looked out of place apparently

Apart from the Daily Fail Qwertyell where did you get confirmed information that we tried to sign those two players?

He is gone and it will be announced within the next few hours. Guly do prado has already leaked it on his Instagram. Good luck schneiderlin

With Busquets behind them, Saint91, or Mascherano when he was unavailable. The little 'uns weren't left to fend for themselves.

I'm pretty sure I read/heard Koeman quoted that they were in for Imbula but it became too difficult, cyprussaint. It was in one of his most recent interviews, but I can't remember which.

Ponykeepr, we have matty targett as left back cover, cuco as back up utility man. Now with Morgan gone, and along with the money that was meant for Toby, we have a decent chunk to get in clasie, a decent centre half, and then maybe a tough centre mid on loan and we'll have strengthened the squad and still made a profit.

Forget about how small Clasie is, he's just about as hard as they come and he'll be sticking massive tackles in all over the place

Clasie is an excellent player who could easily slot into Morgan's position. Very similar to Morgan. Good vision, hard tackler, good passer of the ball. He would also cost less than half of what we'll get for Morgan so would be good business. Having said that I'll be sorry to see Morgan go but I think he deserves a chance with a top club.

Mascherano that well known heavy weight Giant? Are we forgetting that mascherano is 5ft8 and 12 stone. Don't necessarily need to be a really physical to have a solid midfield. Also Busquets may be over 6ft2 but he isn't exactly a heavy weight at 11 and a half stone. Personally I am possibly one of the fans that really isn't concerned with our midfield options. I think Harrison Reed could be a world class midfielder and would love to give him more opportunities next season. Steven Davies has been really good for us and still a great squad player and Ward-Prowse like him or hate him shows good promise. When you combine that with the strength of Wanyama and possibly classy they are some exciting options. It would be nice to fill out the squad a bit, however do we really want average fringe players who only end up reducing the chances of our young British talent getting game time. Don't think we should be buying foreign players unless they are first team quality. I would still take Vlar on a free another promising CB that could maybe play CDM or RB too and I think we have a strong squad. Can See why Qwertyell would panic when Wanyama can't play so another option in CDM would be useful.

Makalele wasn't exactly a six footer and owned that position.

Seen a few people wearing Napoli track suits (accompanied by other men in suits) around St. Mary's recently (although they may not be associated with the club at all, it's just speculation. Plus we all know just how secretive our transfers can be, Bertrand being a prime example.)

Might be possible that we could be set to sign one of their players in the coming days? Or even a member of their coaching staff?

They were after schneiderlin before so maybe that's the reason they were there. Not sure he would go to then though.

Have we been linked with any Napoli players? Any ideas eds?

I think this may all just be a coincidence.

Weren't Napoli linked to Pelle a while back? Before Benitez left.

Perhaps Saints are in for Kalidou Koulibaly (24), 6' 5" centre back who can also play RB and DMC. Would seem to fit the profile of their general transfer policy.

It's probably nothing.

If we were doing business with Napoli, why on earth would we have people in Napoli tracksuits parading around outside the stadium?

Clasie has been left out of the feyanoord squad for preseason due to 'serious interest' and transfer talks. Saints are being named as the likely club to get him. Anyone know any more about this? Would be a great signing

Would be a very good signing.

Very similar player to Schneiderlin in terms of passing ability, hard tackling and how hard he works. Hopefully he's one of the ones Fonte alluded to the other day

Lazio and napoli also interested in him. Fingers crossed could be a great signing and hopefully perk up some of the doubters on here!
