Understand that Saints will not be signing anyone this transfer window. Lots of potential activity has been turned off because of the costs.

Saints improved form has reassured the Board that team strengthening should occur in the summer.

Board not willing to spend, in case relegation does occur

Believable3 Unbelievable19

I somewhat doubt that. I mean we know we are not safe yet and the board would be fools to think otherwise. This club is very good. But it is not assured of survival yet. I sincerely hope you are speaking complete made up nonsense here. Southampton do need to take in one person to improve the defence and one to flare up our wings to really boost us for survival.

Agree7 Disagree1

Risk relegation and lose how much tv money? Hmmm yes let's get relegated that's a no brainier

Clarkey saint

Ps I want us to hurry up and sign a new player as much as the next guy but these things take time NC and Na have many targets but some won't come of some might and one or two will

Agree7 Disagree1

This, simply, is the most ridiculous thing ever. NA is always vocal when transfer activity is over. Recent comments suggests talks are on-going. Would imagine you're trying to wind people up

Agree6 Disagree1

Sorry this is complete poppycock (yes I went there).
Anyone can see we are leakier than a Sussex sea defence.
NC may be the proverbial church mouse with what goes on but he has a lot riding on us staying up.
Nigel is shrew enough to know what the fans want and what we really need.

There is nothing at all that even comes close to suggesting this is anything other than rubbish other than the pervading silence

Agree6 Disagree1

Complete nonsense there is no board at St Marys its just Cortese.

Agree5 Disagree3

With the latest QPR signing, i think we will make a few and a real statement with a couple of them!

Agree4 Disagree0

Absolute BS. The only way you could know this is if you are NC, NA, or Les Reed. And to say that our form has improved is drivel, considering how close we went to losing to Aston Villa.

Aussie Saint

Agree6 Disagree2

Were dropping our intrest because of the costs.... we aint pompey!

Agree7 Disagree0

Lots of potential activity has been turned off because of the costs.

They expected all their targets to be free?

Utter bull

Agree5 Disagree0

Statement does not make sense. It is an oxymoron.

The board cant both not invest because they are confident that our current form will ensure survival and not invest in case we are relegated.

Agree6 Disagree0

Oxymoron, you mean pompeymoron, lol .

Agree3 Disagree0

I smell a jealous fishy skate. Obviously we are going to buy someone, might be on the last day but we will

Agree2 Disagree0

Biggest load of cobblers since 50 shades.

Apparently we are in for Matej Vydra with the hammers and are trying to scupper his move to a championship side.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I can't see this one happening but then again what do any of us know at this point?

Agree3 Disagree1

Whhy would we we dont need one and should be looking at signing a cb and a winger/cam and whoever else not some s**t kid who has pottential when we have jayrd sharp lee mayuka

Trev saint

Agree1 Disagree2

I hope so. I've been telling people to watch the highlights of Football league show, Watford v's Middlesborough and see how this guy moves around the box. He has great speed, first touch, awareness and his finishing is great as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who said JR and Lee are the finished article or ever will be and we are yet to see whether Mayuka can cut it in the prem. Sharp could but I think Vydra looks faster and cleverer.

According to sources saints have lost out to ac Milan for the signing of davide astori. I suggest we all move on!!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I would suggest we actually pick up the business and try to sign someone good before it's too late for once.

Agree3 Disagree0

Just goes to show what rubbish people who know nothing put up here. A few weeks ago the deal was "almost done". We should expect an announcement "within hours". and Astori would be signed "in time foor the Villa game". We all knew it was nonsense, why do people post it?

Agree3 Disagree0

Shorely not his agent 'apparently' has been in sothampon talking nogotiations so i hope it dosent fall through we have wasted so much time on him and all for nothing hope not.

Trev saint

Agree0 Disagree1

I read this morning that AC Milan have said they won't be bringing anyone in during this transfer window, so I doubt they will be getting Astori.

Agree2 Disagree0

Trev saint. The only time wasted on Astori is us talking about him. The rumour his agent was at the De Vere is nonsense in my opinion. Saints would be far more cautious and the DeVere staff far more careful and professional.

I'm sure NA, LR and NC have plenty of negotiations underway. NA has said enough to convince me we have signings coming in. Just a shame it's hard to do business early. Agents and players wait until they can force the price up on transfer deadline day.

Just heard on Ramirez quoted as saying he is very happy, settled in well and that "life is good". Also that a move to Italy does not interest him!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

He's also said a move to Italy does suit him.

He'll say things to keep people happy as he knows he can't go anywhere yet.

Apparently on the main site some1 has put that the Astori deal has fallen through on account that Astori wanted more of a wage packet!
Any1 know if this is true?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

No idea, hope not.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ive been trying to find out for hours but cant find anything that backs up that claim on the main rumour site. Its all gone quiet a little too quiet if you ask me.

Trev

Agree3 Disagree0

It's not true astori his self said he would be happy to join if we can agree a fee but have to wait for Milan to confirm they don't want to buy astori back as thy have first buy back tbh I think it's just a jealous Pompey fan (sorry for using the p word)

Bigsaint

Agree4 Disagree0

It isnt dont worry astori soon will be a saint and maybe a few more to come

Trev saint

Agree2 Disagree2

I just wish they'd actually announce it to us rather than keeping everything quiet. It's really kind of frustrating not knowing especially so far into a window. We're almost half way through.

For this Chelsea game we should copy 'Arry's' tactics which means resting lambert and playing Gaston up front on his own like they did with Taraabt, pucheon and guly/de ridder/fox on the wings 3 in the middle and the back four will probably pick its self with fonte and shaw probaby out. what do you guys think? I think its the only way we can get anything out of this game as Chelsea seem to be scoring for fun at the moment

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Not at home they ant, stay the same system counter attack when they get frustrated!

Agree0 Disagree1

Agree partly i would still play lambert and play gaston on the wing

Agree2 Disagree0

We're not QPR, We Are Saints. Gaston is not Taarabt either. What worked for one team won't necessarily work for another. It was a derby game, Chelsea rested their best 4-5 players and QPR were bang up for it. It's football, not maths. "Saints-Lambert+plus Guly+QPR's formation.divided by tactics = win?" We go out, try and keep the ball, nullify the threat of chelsea's front 3 or 4, run our arses off and not make any mistakes!

Agree6 Disagree0

I would disagree, play Rickie up front as a target man and get the rest of boys working hard as a unit, denying Chelsea time and space, let then have the ball in their own half and press then big time in ours. It worked well versus Arsenal, and Norwich have beaten both Man Utd and Arsenal playing this way. Lambert can do exactly what Holt did in those games with the pace of puncheon and the skills of Ramirez to feed off Lambert on the break, we can keep the game tight and competitive. True that Chelsea have hammered a few goals in recently, but there form is a little erratic.
In any case, Chelsea are way of the top spot 14 points at half way, It's have been inconsistent too this season is wide open on a week to week basis, all games are up for grabs, let's hope NA gets the tactics right and the boys catch Chelsea cold, and we can start heading towards the middle of the table, where in general we deserve to be at the present. Coyr

Agree4 Disagree0

When we played them in the FA cup we matched them first half.

More of the same and don't let them get their noses ahead.

Will be hard without Fonte though.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah I agree, with the fairly immobile Hooiveld i can see us getting thrashed. hope i'm wrong

Heard again last night that we have had talks with Birmingham over Butland as far as even direct talks with Butland have gone on.
my understanding is 4.5m + davis or Boruc on loan

dont be surprised to see a double sweep for Butland & Redman

CTS

Believable1 Unbelievable5

I sincerely doubt it and hope not at the same time.

The saints are linked with an 18 year old striker called Dominico Berardi of Sassoulo Calcio, a Serie B team, so Sky Sports Reports. But we face tough completion from Liverpool and man city

Benjie ;)

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Well his surname means 'football' in italian so he must be bloody good!

Agree1 Disagree3

No it doesn't. Calcio is football, not Berardi....

Agree3 Disagree0

Yes, completion is always the hard part!

Agree1 Disagree0

Haha a silly error to make! My apologies.
