I was told today a young German goalkeeper called Timo Horn is being lined up by Saints, apparently Ronald Koeman doesn't think Kelvin Davis is up to standard so wants a new backup/potential future number 1

really ? kelvin davis is 38 and nearly at retirement age. so yes he will be looking for a new keeper as gazza isn't up to it.
forster still has about 10-13 years left at the top level in him. and has proved to be a great signing , being a vital part of the defence and keeping so many clean sheets.
cant see anyone in the next few years , knocking him off his number 1 spot.

So i heard a rumour, that our Ricky Lambert could go out on loan to Palace. What if, the Saints put in an offer. He ticks all the boxes for me and what an added moral boost for our forwards, quality player.

If this rumour is true ( I must admit I haven't seen or heard of this anywhere and I have looked ) the only reason would be Pardew signed him for us originally. If he is available then it would seem a no brainer for us not to try to get him back. Rickies tremendous footballing brain and dedication to Saints would seem an obvious answer for our lack of goal scoring and we would only need him till the end of the season with JRod coming back. I just don't believe the rumours about JRod being sold, I just think it is just the media speculating again, now we are a force in the premier league they seem to be taking notice of us, if we were 15th I don't think you would hear a whisper.

I think Ricky was a real revelation at St Marys but as much as i hate to say it. the team has moved in a different direction and i don't think his pace would fit in, as pelle is a quality replacement

You don't need great pace when you have the distribution qualities Rickie has. He was never blessed with great pace in all the years he was here and that wasn't a major problem, we still play the same style of football as we did when he was with us. He is still a quality player and a defenders nightmare to play against with his clever flicks. He would be just what Mane//Elia need to show their pace and ability.

Palace enquired but have since gone for Sonogo. WBA have also enquired about a loan but Liverpool want a sale and at a price where they recoup their £4m and Rickie wants to stay and fight for his place

Even once Jay-Rod is back, I think we still need another striker, but I don't think Rickie should be it. He chose to leave for his boyhood club and I wished him well. If it's not working out, that's too bad, but we've moved forward since his backward step. If we're serious about Europe we need to be pushing the boundaries of what we've done before.

Why all of a sudden do people think Rickie is not good enough for us anymore ? He can still do it and as a loan he would be just what we need with all these injuries. When Pelle came on tonight we started to worry their defence, we need a target man in reserve, every team has got one.

^ Rickie's a player who was steadily declining over his last two seasons at saints, now he's been sat on the bench for half a season

would be a risk for anyone to sign jrod in the summer. mainly being of the injury he's had. so i fully believe no one will bid anything near what saints value him at.
will be a saints player this time next year still

think about it!! there is no way liverpool would allow him to leave on loan to the saints to help them push for a top four finish. Ridiculous

According to SKY SPORTS NEWS --> Southampton are reportedly lining up a bid for £15million-rated Braga midfielder Rafa Silva.
Could be a great addition ??

I've been watching videos of him and I think he would be a great addition. Reminds me of Eden Hazard, woud give us a true attacking midfielder.
Go on Ron splash the cash!

{Ed002's Note - Southampton, Roma, Everton, Monaco, Schalke, Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica have shown an interest in Braga midfielder Rafa Silva in the summer. West Ham and, again, Schalke have both made recent approaches to Braga with a view to a loan-to-permanent proposal. Interest in a permanent transfer remains from Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen.}
I think Ron should bring in 3 more attacking players, 1 more defender. then if we finish in top 4 this season he needs a 50m budget for champions league !!

A tad ambitious. I think it's pretty clear the club don't want to over stretch, so I can hardly see them shelling out that kind of cash (not that I think we need it anyway!)

I've said it before and I'll say it again we have not got or ever will have the financial clout of the Chelsea's, Man Cities, Man Utd's, Arsenals, Liverpools and Spurs so god forbid we fall into the trap of way overspending. What we have got at this time is a very sound management all round and the best academy in Europe that will produce very good future talent COYR
