Saints are linked with Allan McGregor, who today has left rangers after the club folded and re-branded as a new club

Believable5 Unbelievable3

We are linked to every goal keeper under the sun it seems ... J Steele, R Green, J Butland, B Foster, A McGreggor (now) ... not to forget C Gordon and M Almunia ... only need 4 more and we could field a full team goal keeper 11

Agree3 Disagree1

Lol, also linked with S given, A linderggard,

I am an avid saints supporter, i regularly keep tabs on the goings on with the football club and who we are being linked with. What i almost surprised by is the lack of action from Cortese and Adkins. We all know that the earlier you buy the cheaper the prices are and the more there is thats available, so why ave we only really been after one player? I hope that Cortese and Adkins once he returns from the euros. So what i am most interested in is not who we are linked with but, who would you most like southampton to sign? (realistically) here are a couple of mine taking into consideration that adkins is at the euros...
Eugen polanski - strong technical attacking midfielder - Poland
Gebre Selassie - Fast, likes to get forward but defensively sound RB - Czech R
Kjaer - Ball playing centre half - denmark (very impressive against holland)
Maggio - Versatile napoli RB can also play LB or RW, superb display against spain, pinning back alba and easily controlling the interchanging spanish left side. (may be available for a smaller fee than you think)

Believable4 Unbelievable8

Selassie and Kjaer please!!!

Agree5 Disagree1

Simon kjaer was mentioned before euros but think his value will shoot up a lot now, but agree would b excellent signing

Agree6 Disagree0

I think you will find both Cortese and Adkins are being very active to bring in the players they want within the next two weeks.
We will probably not see any sign of that activity until the signings are announced. Just because other clubs publicise every bit of information they can doesn't mean they will be successful.
Perhaps I will be proven to be wrong, but I expect 3/4 more quality signings by the end of this month, and I think we will have more chance of being successful if both Adkins and Cortese continue to keep information away from the press until it is 100% firm-the press has not been kind to the Saints when they have given out privileged information, so they will not start now.

Agree6 Disagree0

Polanski and selassie are 2 players we could possibly tempt. but i dont think we have any chance with maggio, and much bigger clubs are intrested in kjaer . would love them both, but cant see it :(

Agree4 Disagree1

I think that Saints would struggle to interest Kjaer.

Agree2 Disagree2

You are also very impatient and according to the rumours on this site, we are after hundreds!

Agree1 Disagree1

Maggio would hardly leave a club playing in Europe to join saints....

Agree3 Disagree2

Maggio??! You must be smoking something he is a champions league player and we would never ever ever be able to get him tomSr Mary's . FACT open your eyes I love your euro scouting mission, I applaud your love for the club but were not arsenal or man utd and never will be.

Agree4 Disagree3

I wouldn't say never ever. Ever certainly not until the next ten year if we stay up then I'd say with investment well tempt players to the standard of hazard, hulk, Rooney. I'm not saying Those exact players but just the standard

Agree3 Disagree3

I would not say i am impatient but simply querying the decision to wait until after the euros where prices will inevitably rise...

Agree1 Disagree1

You have a point but i'm sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.

Agree2 Disagree0

I'm always surprised by how long it takes us to get heavily involved in the transfer market. Last summer we were slow starters.

However most clubs are, so you assume it is down to factors that are out of our control, e.g. transfer talks, administrative problems, contract talks, medicals, research etc etc.

It's a lot more complicated and time consuming than football manager! Just because you don't see transfers being made, it doesn't mean there isn't a lot of work going on behind the scenes.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its disappointing how little faith that comment has about our potential to have the best players. The two best players at the Euros for England are Saints graduates. If wehad stayed in the Prem, who says they wouldn't still be with us? We have rich owners and if Spurs can make the top 4, why can't we?

Agree3 Disagree2

We can! What that guy was saying is that the likes of Christian Maggio would play for Saints now. I simply disagree he wouldn't and it will take us more than a few seasons to achieve that sort of standing in Europe. You don't achieve these sorts of things over night and I think it's evident we aren't gonna just throw money at players to get them to sign. So I stand by what I said we won't at this moment in time (maybe I should have included that earlier) be able to sign players playing in the champions league.

Whats your honest opinions ? nigel adkins has been a football manager for 5 season, and he has gained 4 promotions. (2007,2008,2011,2012)
that is the makings of a successful manager. i know saints wont win the premier leauge and not for a very long time (well until man city stop spending that is), so we have an fa cup and leauge cup to try and win. maybe push for a uefa cup quarter final too (if we qualify through the leauge or cup).
So the big question i was your opinions on, do we think nigel adkins has what it takes to be a future england manager ? i do

Believable8 Unbelievable2

I think most of Adkins success is down to his positive attitude and commitment, and I hope he will be at saints for a very long time!

Agree8 Disagree0

I think he does .... But I want him to stay long term!

Agree6 Disagree0

To be honest, I believe the opportunities he has at Saints over the next ten years are far greater than he would enjoy from being a manager of England. If the Saints project goes well, I can see him being at St. Marys for a long time and matching his skills against the best in Europe. If he can achieve that, then it would be many years before he would be lured away from club management.

Agree5 Disagree0

I'm not sure pardew was i think better certainly a better judge of player

Agree3 Disagree5

He'd be a great England manager yeah. I hope he never gets to be though, I'd rather he stayed with us ;)

Agree4 Disagree1

All we should be concentrating on next season is not getting relegated. We don't need any cup distractions, once we have established ourselves as a top flight team again over the next two or three seasons, then we can start to think about cups and or european qualification. I also agree with the chap above regarding Pardew, I believe Pardew is a better judge of player in the transfer market, that said, I hope Nigel Stays with Saints for a long time and we enjoy more and more success under his stewardship. COYR

Agree1 Disagree0

I think nigel is a good manager but he won't want to go for league cup or fa cup squad won't be big enough should focus on survival
