He is a young player, looks like he could do with sharpening up a bit. Where better to do that than saints! Just hope he can be a goal scorer next season if we get him. His 8 goals in 38 appearances doesn't look like the hit man we need. Fingers crossed

If Clyne signs for Liverpool, he's an idiot. How many millions does a man need? He'll play every game at Saints, with a hungry settled side, with his England rb slot intact. Not only that, He'll learn far more from Ronald Koeman than he ever will from Brenda or Klopp or whoever replaces Rodgers. Southampton Football Club has one of the best mànagers in the world. Enjoy the Koeman years. Hope he signs another contract.
Let's hope Juanmi signs up.He looks very useful. Up the Saints.
Anyone up for a trip to Europe?

I would rather us spend our monies on a proven EPL goal scorer.
If this rumour is true, it surely puts to bed the Austin signing rumours, shame, I'd have liked to see him play for Saints next season.

As above i'd be gutted if we didn't take a punt on Austin

Interesting signing (if it happens). I thought Koeman liked big, target men strikers. This guy's 5' 6". I wonder if this means a change of tactical emphasis, less aimless long punts up to Pelle.

Perhaps he's thinking of going with a fast, mobile, flexible front three of Mane, Juanmi and Rodriguez, all swapping and interchanging positions. Time will tell, I guess.

Personally, it's the kind of signing I like seeing Saints going after - young, bags of potential, stock on the rise. I think that's more in keeping with the long term vision for the club than 29 year olds with no sell on value.

A deal for Cedric is supposedly nearly complete too, possibly before the week's out.

I wouldn't worry about Clyne. If he was ever planning on staying, he'd have signed a new contract by now. Move on.

I was thinking the same thing, qwerty. We have Gallagher, Rodriguez,Pelle,Mane and potentially Juanmi. A good mix of pace and power giving Koeman plenty of options. Jay Rodriguez will be fighting for his England squad place for the Euros,along with Pelle and Juanmi. Frankly ,if we could keep Alderweireld ,I would be even more excited. That lad is mustard. If we are lucky,Ronald will have a couple of gems for us yet to be unveiled .

Juanmi isn't a striker, he sits in behind the striker, like Djuricic and Lallana did, we'll still need to sign another striker

Why does everyone have their heart so set on Austin? Yes there's no denying he had a quality season but there are much better footballers out there. Still think a CB needs to be signed before we look at any more attacking players

Is there any truth in the reports that we're close to signing Juanmi Ed? He sounds like a good prospect, what's everyone's thoughts on this?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing confirmed but Newcastle, who were also interested, are of the opinion he is moving to Southampton.}

Afternoon Ed's, a couple of articles in the Spanish press are suggesting we are going to be announcing the signing of Juanmi from Malaga having paid out his €7 million release clause, subject to a medical. Any truth to this one?

Thanks Ed002, seems to be a more concrete deal from most news outlets now. Do you think we will be in the market for another striker at some point?

{Ed002's Note - It might well depend on departures.}

Hi eds,
Has there been anymore information on hernandez? Not really keen on taking on another striker who isn't perticularly keen on playing for us but the rumours have been floating about. If as reported is true about the wage bill inter were offering for van persie. I'm sure it was between 60-80k a week (15m per year) would that not be a cheeky signing worth a punt? Neither Milan club finished perticularly high in the league. As far as offering European football goes neither can do that.

{Ed002's Note - Putting aside your appalling mathematics; Inter, Dortmund, Spurs, Monaco, Southampton, West Ham, Lazio, Stoke and Everton have a declared interest in Javier Hernandez. If the price is reasonable then Galatasaray could revive their previous interest. His agent has said there is interest in the United States as well. I understand that Manchester United are looking to offer Hernandez to a Spanish side as part of a deal for another player.

Right now, I wouldn't hold your breath.}

Sorry I do apologise was a long night shift last night. The figure was around £4.6m a year I actually saw. Which is close to 90k a week. Was trying to find the original article online, however it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Most journalism seems to be recycled with different words. Like copying your mates homework back in the day haha. Thanks for the reply though 😊
