Any update on Banega? I heard from a friend who knows someone at the ground and they apparently said it was close to being completed but haven't seen it update anywhere online other than our initial interest

That's rubbish! NC doesn't tell people at the ground about any possible progress with a transfer. Do you really think anyone would believe that?

He told myself and others attending the sholing v Southampton u21's game. That wanyama deal was completed! Two days before it was announced on the official website!

I think we can safely say that it is Adkins who wanted to keep transfers behind closed doors.

Why else would we of had a press conference with Poch releasing our target transfers?

^agree with OP that there is rumblings coming from inside the camp that the deal is close. Obviously NC doesn't make a habit of telling everyone about the deals however most of this info will come from training staff who will be briefed on potential transfers & some of those on the coaching/training staff will let snippets of info out. Regarding the potential deal of Banega - is starting to have a very familiar eerie silence of a saints signup so personally don't think this is too far off.

There was NO press conference with Poch releasing Saints targets! You should check what he said.

Not being funny, but being open about interest in players isn't the same as releasing targets. Also, releasing these names can sometimes throw people off other interest you want to keep quiet. NC DOES like to keep things quiet, just NA took it a little too literally. I would imagine its deal details and progress he wants kept quiet. Probably doesn't care if people know he is interested

According to Italian press, (tutto) the president of Internacional has indicated that there have been talks between Saints and Damiao.

Damiao is apparently interested in coming to Saints, so all we need to do is agree a fee with the club

Would be insane if we could pull this off, there is something going to happen on the striker front, but I feel we could be waiting right up until the end of the window.

It's looking good but I am not holding my breath on this. That site states that Napoli haven't contacted Damiao and other websites are stating that there has been contact between Napoli and Damiao and bids for the player have been upped.

I don't know what to believe anymore but only time will tell.

Also coming from italian press are reports that Napoli have made a bid for Higuain after selling Cavani to PSG. So that could help us get Damiao if they are no longer interested in him. Fingers crossed.

Napoli have just sold Cavani and they are 1/4 favourites to sign Damaio. Might happen but don't get too excited. They have 55 million to spend so think it all looks likely that Damaio will got there.

Rubbish, i've read that article 3 times now, and no where does it say there have been talks. It says there's been interest, and that he is interested, if you take the translation literally. Getting a bit ahead of yourself there

Replace the word Saints with Napoli and it is exactly the same story I remember reading somewhere else today (can't remember where).
Tells you a lot about rumour building.

Would be excellent to get him, not sure how likely it is though. Also not sure how well he'll adapt but I'd imagine we'll do well out of getting him. Also would be a huge player to get as far as getting other players to want to come as Damiao is a big name player.

Has apparently come forward and paid saints a few compliments saying he would be interested.
If YouTube are anything to go by, he looks very impressive.

I think he'd be a decent acquisition if we could get him cheaply. I wouldn't want to be spending more than £4million on a player of that calibre though.
