Understand that Gaston Ramirez Contract side of things are all complete
Only stumbling block is the price. Understanding is that we've started with a low bid and hoping to put add-ons in to tempt Bologna into accepting the offer
RJ

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I think it is mostly sorted. It may involve a few more talks and a medical but seems mostly there.

Agree4 Disagree2

How can it be a stumbling block?? surely if a player is talking contract terms - a fee must have been agreed between clubs! Just waffle me thinks!

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes there has been a bid we have placed '11.3mil' but still have loads of transfer budget, so could put more in to ease Bologno aside, we hope!

Agree2 Disagree1

We've has an 11.8 million I'd accepted so that won't be a stumbling block it's just the add ons that he's not happy with the player has said he wants to join us so expect it in the next couple of days

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems to be a sentiment of either Ramirez OR Phillips.Don't agree with that, they are both young players, as is Rodriguez and could easily be used in a normal rotation.
Perhaps with the exception of Ramirez, players of that age are rarely played match after match in the Premiership.

Saint Martin

Agree1 Disagree1

Quistion is will we ahve him for the wigan game and maybe even matt philips aswell theres me hoping

Agree2 Disagree0

Bologna chairman stated in an article he will not sell for less than 20 m euros about 5 m pound more than we bid and also said deal is being fuelled by player not club and he is not happy so may refuse deal altogether !

Agree1 Disagree1

I reckon Southampton should offer 15 million pounds. It's less than they want but I reckon we'd get him for that.

Agree2 Disagree1

Contract sorted but they want add ons etc so needs resolving

Agree1 Disagree0

It shouldn't take too long, hope he'll finally arrive by Wigan game.

Ramirez? Is it happening or not? Anyone know! Hope so he looks good.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Ramirez deal will happen, deal not finalised, add ons and payment terms not agreed !

Agree2 Disagree1

Now is he a winger or a striker as conflicting answers on the net, if he is a striker he hasn't a brilliant scoring record, hopefully now we can concentrate on c/b, how about samba appears to be having rough time out there

Agree1 Disagree1

He can play both and that is good for the Saints, he's a flexible player.

Agree2 Disagree0

He is a winger who can also play just behinf the striker
RedRyan

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply to the quistion were does ramirez play st rw rm cf and forget samba i still want sharwcross or scott dann

Number 3 and 10 shirts are left unfilled. Buttner and ramirez hopefully.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

The Buttner deal is in place as back up if the Ramirez falls through. We can't risk not having a left midfielder if it does. We've hopefully got Phillips too, so all being well, am sure the plan is only to buy two more attacking players plus the CB that we all know must be coming

Agree0 Disagree6

I think the plan is the number 3 shirt to go to a signing who has as of yet been unknown. I'd imagine a centre back cause we clearly need one. The 10 is set aside for Ramirez it seems and the choice of 15/17 shirt is set for Buttner if it works this time.

Agree1 Disagree1

Adkins confirmed in an interview yesterday that we are no longer in for buttner and that he has faith in what we have

Agree1 Disagree1

He didn't confirm that additions won't happen though. I'd hope the 3 and 10 shirts are set aside for a new defender and Ramirez.

the ramirez deal has took a big twist the club president has came out and said to sky italia he is unhappy with the way ramirez has came out and had an open interveiw about this and said "i am a serious man and i wont sell unless i get 20 million euro's" same happened last year after trying to force a move to man city if someone tells me how to post the link i will im being serious

Believable2 Unbelievable4

What he says is the truth. The Bologna president is being cagey. But it isn't a 'big twist'.

Discussions are on-going, they have reached a rough agreement but just need to sort add-ons etc to get it to the 20 million Euro mark. At the moment it's at around 15-16 million Euros, but there will be some add ons depending on appearances/goals/sell on fee which should keep both parties happy.

JJ

Agree2 Disagree1

Heard this to :( trying to stay positive tho, I mean why would Ramirez himself say he has been offered "so much more money" if he hadn't?? Doesn't make sence

Mini-saint

Agree1 Disagree0

Ramirez is happy with the deal its bolongna's president who seems to be kicking up the fuss just a ploy for more money no doubt. so fustrating to see this deal like in doubt after him being 'all but signed' like others =/

Agree1 Disagree0

Never trust sly for news they r not called sly sports for nothing & Ramirez isn't that good apart from saints the only other team to bid for him was wolfsburg

Agree1 Disagree3

What are you on about? Tottenham put in a bid as did Inter Milan they just got shot back. Other top clubs declared interest such as Liverpool but they pulled out after filling their squads with signings already.

Agree2 Disagree1

But Liverpool Spurs and inter milan were all interested as well.

Agree1 Disagree1

There is a difference between showing interest & actually bidding they lost interest after they knew how much was wanted for him & realized he just wasn't worth it , Liverpool showed interest when dalglish was in charge & commolli but u only have to look at how much money they wasted last summer on average players that tells u everything don't believe what u read in the media etc about so many clubs wanting him that's come from his agent to push the price up don't u think if he was that good the top clubs would be fighting for him

Media story about Bologna President refusing to let Gaston Ramirez go

http://t.co/0OAzeRPA

theres the link if you dont believe me

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Thought it would probably be too good to be true. Back to square one then. Just get us a solid cb.

Agree2 Disagree3

Yes saw that said wants 20 million euros

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this a joke? Buttner all over again.....

Agree2 Disagree3

Chill out. They've agreed a basic fee but are sorting out add ons to take the total value of the transfer up to the 20 million Euro mark.

JJ

Agree3 Disagree1

That article doesn't confirm the deal as not happening. Just wait and see on this one.

Gaston Ramirez is set to sign for Southampton, bud accepted and personal terms agreed. He said the offer was too good to turn down. Also matt Phillips has handed in a transfer request 25 hours after saints made a bid for him.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

If Ramirez signs other top players will want to,it sends a message!

Agree3 Disagree0

Bid has been accepted but bolognas president does not want him too leave, also he has not agreed personal terms and was hoping for a bigger premiership team in europe to come in for him

Agree1 Disagree5

The above is wrong. Its common knowledge that the offer was too good to refuse, he has said it himself. It is also the word inside of the club too. Hearing on here that the president has change his mind or something?

Agree2 Disagree0

He'll sign, I really hope Southampton do well in EPL, because they are like a breath of fresh air, all I hear is sense on this site, you are true fans, not like Man U. or Liverpool fans who think they just turn up to win, best of luck.
Gers/Southampton fan

Agree7 Disagree0

Cheers bud

Agree1 Disagree0

Thank you Gers/Southampton fan. On behalf of Saints fans we wish you luck in Scotland. Back to the main topic anyway so Ramirez may be set to sign and I imagine that he's the addition the squads attack needs to be a serious threat to most defences in the league. We're one good Centre back away from being a solid mid-table finish at least I think.

Matty Phillips has handed in a transfer request at Blackpool. This a day after Saints put a bid in for him. Coincidence?? Not likely. Would be another great signing especially if Ramirez signs too. Maybe then we can leave Lallana on the left where he is best. Keep going Nige and Nick, just a centre back now and things will be looking a lot more rosy in the garden of St Marys
COYR

Saintlee

Believable8 Unbelievable3

They will interchange during play, like Barcelona.
That's what we can do with Phillips and Ramirez. Though I think Lallana will play thru the middle from kick off

Agree0 Disagree3

If Phillips signs thats good for Southampton but I really am not sure on this one. Yes Southampton have stated an interest but with Ramirez I reckon Phillips will be dropped as a target unless we get our defensive reinforcements settled. He's a good player but not a priority especially if Ramirez comes.

Heard two strong rumours today

we are set to sign a keeper tomorrow?

Also NC & Paul Mitchel are up north (phillips maybe)

Chalkie

Believable4 Unbelievable6

How do you know NC is up north

Agree1 Disagree2

Good any i dea what kepper and how do yo know NC is up north

Agree0 Disagree2

Dont know who the keeper is

hearing he flew up today from soton

Chalkie

Agree0 Disagree2

He says that he heard TWO strong rumours. ONE was the keeper, and the other was about NC being up north.

Agree0 Disagree1

He probably is up north to watch the saints as we are play city on Sunday!
Ralph

Agree1 Disagree1

I thought they spent most of the day dealing with the Ramirez situation. I think NC was at St Mary's during the press conference as well. Not certain on that but I'm not at all sure of this. But if they are up north couldn't that be to do with the keeper signing anyway? I mean it seems Ramirez will be a saint so why Phillips after that?

Agree0 Disagree1

I am hearing buttner deal is back on 3 mil
Also Ramirez and Phillips all signing by the weekend
So want this to be true been up to watch pre season games and we are missing that someone speical to make things
Happen . So hope this is true
Saints forever brad

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Ramirez has signed for Southampton check out daily echo website

Agree3 Disagree4

Doubt phillips will sign before weekend. Blackpool notoriously difficult to deal with, and won't want to lose him. I don't think any new signing will be done in time to feature Sunday. No time to brief on play style, formation etc
