Ronald koeman said on dutch tv that he is interrested in ron vlaar. Nothing concrete. I think it would be an amazing signing for sfc

Believable22 Unbelievable11

Please no.

Vlaar had a really strong world cup, I, for one, would be chuffed with this signing, providing he plays like he did for Holland - the rock at the back.

Agree14 Disagree4

I think Vlaar would be a great addition to the squad. I believe we need x2 cb's to be honest. Hoover and Yoshi don't cut it. i'd like to see Van Dijke from celtic come in. I think he could be the next Frank Rijkaard.

Just hope this is true , I think you all know from my previous comments that he is an amazing professional and brilliant last line defender. We need someone like him desperately with our high pressing game. Make a perfect captain.

Agree6 Disagree2

I agree with him having a good world cup tbf. but he never seems to do the job for Aston Villa so why would he be aby different in the same league just a different team?

Agree6 Disagree9

Tried to do it almost by himself last season, even the best can only do so much. If he leaves Villa I guarantee they will be relegated.

Agree7 Disagree4

@Saint Christopher - the rest of the defence let's him down at villa, next to another decent CB he could do well

Agree5 Disagree0

I don't think we need that many players beyond a CB and a CF. A GK would be a bonus but bot essestial so only if we can get someone good. We need to make sure Lovren and Spider stay. If not we wI'll of course need more players. Vlaar is definitely better than whstvwe have so if available we should get him.

Chrisdownj

it looks like we won't be playing the high pressing game under RK. But whatever system we do play, Vlaar could be a huge signing, along with Van Dijke, and if Lovren stays and we also end up with Caulker, wow that would be a squad of CBs to choose from!

Agree5 Disagree1

"Nothing concrete". Don't u mean "nothing roncrete" ba dum tiss

Agree7 Disagree5

I'm pretty sure you mean 'Nothing *pause for dramatic effect* Roncrete' *thunderous applause*.

Agree2 Disagree7

We need pace! we got no pace I can't think of any quick players without rodrigues in the squad. If we don't buy a pacey striker and pacey wide player I think we have made big mistakes this transfer market.

Agree4 Disagree2

Koeman says Pelle is quick but I know what you mean.

Agree3 Disagree0

Vlaar at the World Cup plays alongside 2 other centre backs as well as two wing backs essentially making a back 5, but for Villa he plays a back 4. Maybe this is a reason why Vlaar doesn't perform well for club because he prefers being alongside more defenders? I personally would rather seen Van Dijk.

Agree5 Disagree0

I agree. I think Pelle will thrive off the crosses from a pacey wideman. The links for Redmond seem to have dried up unless RK is expecting sam mcqueen to step up? He's not that quick though is he?

Agree3 Disagree3

I would like to see Vlaar and Van Dijk join us even if Lovren stays. With Chambers and Targett that would make an awesome back 5.

Agree4 Disagree1

R vlaar would be a good appointment IMO but we must also be looking for a more long term investment.

Agree3 Disagree0

I don't know why people are always on about us signing younger player's.We produce enough young talent and really need players who can do the business now and have exexperience. I think Centre backs need more experience than any other position also.

RK says that Ron Vlar would be an option but wouldn't be cheap.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

We all know we need to sign another good CB even if Lovern does not leave Fonte is only good enough for Back up in reality. What worries me is what a family member of mine has said who works heigh up in the training/physio staff for many years. He/she says we are going to have a difficult season this year in a 2 minute phone call I had with them and he/she is always right and always very professional what is said keeping their card close to there chest. IMO there is or has been some strange occurrence at the club since the end of last season. I will try to find out some actual information but if will be very difficult.

Anybody any idea what is going on with Gaston shouldn't he be back with us by now. Any rumours about the possible interest there was earlier on about him going back to Italy.

Agree3 Disagree4

Gaston is due back during this weekend or if it is monday because of extended holiday due to WC.

Agree4 Disagree1

Argentina went much further in the World Cup than the likes of England/Japan/Croatia.

He isn't due back yet.

Agree2 Disagree17

Gaston and Morgan are both due to rejoin the squad this weekend due to the extended leaves they got for their teams progressing to further rounds of the world cup.

Agree6 Disagree3

Arsenal being interested in Morgan has been in the media for at least twelve months. If they were that interested, why didn't they try and push a deal through well before he was in the French team and had played at the WC? Doesn't really make any economic sense.

Agree4 Disagree2

St Christopher - Gaston is from Uruguay mate.

Agree14 Disagree6

{Ed007's Note - But he came to Southampton via Bolgna, in Italy, and he has been linked with a move back to Italy.}

Ed I think the point was more around how it is therefore irrelevant how far Argentina went in the World Cup as to how much holiday he had.

Agree5 Disagree1

Any truth in the rumour that brendan rogers has begged ronald koeman to let him into marchwood training ground so he can try and work out how to produce a good footballer eds?

Agree4 Disagree1

Sorry Ed, I was purely referring to his nationality

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It was obvious what Chris meant.}

19 Jul 2014 10:09:18
Thanks for that Ed . think someone on here wants to disagree with me no matter what. Still I suppose that is one of the things that makes this website so interesting.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Don't let it worry you, take it as a compliment.}

SSN reporting that we are 'heavily linked' with Leonel Vangioni of River Plate, 27 year old midfielder

Believable9 Unbelievable6

I thought he was a defender?

I read on Skysports that he was happy where he was and didn't want to move.

Agree5 Disagree2

He is apparently a left back but has publicly stated that he is very happy at River Plate and looking forward to playing for them next season. Does not look like he wants to move to us.

Agree4 Disagree1

He's very happy until a club come in with an offer of big money. Money talks as we've seen.

Agree4 Disagree0

Personally don't know much about him but said in the article he was a midfielder

Agree4 Disagree1

He can play LB and midfield

Agree3 Disagree1

Watched a vid on youtube he looked good at tackling but his distribution of the ball was worse than wanyamas
