Heard rumors going round that after the gaston Ramirez deal is over we will be looking at a centre back to replace fonte heard in a interview from Nigel Adkins and sky sports have announced Billy sharp will go to Nottingham forest on a 1 year loan not good news.

Believable4 Unbelievable11

I wouldn't trust that rumour. Sharp is one of our top strikers and we don't have too many. Why would we let him go and why would he want to leave a top flight club to a championship club. Ok the Centre back stuff is guess work on our part right now.

Agree3 Disagree2

That's rubbish. With Lee still injured if we got rid of Sharp we would be left with one out and out striker in Lambert. Sharp has been red hot in pre season too.

Based on that being rubbish I'm going to assume your Ramirez info is unfounded too.

JJ

Agree2 Disagree3

Said no such thing, come back with a believable attempt of fooling people

Agree3 Disagree3

Saints have gone back with an improved offer for Gaston Ramirez

Agree2 Disagree3

Nice try but only an person would believe that, ramirez deal could be done monday to wednesday and sharp has been on fire in pre season and one of our best strikers

Agree2 Disagree2

What's this guy smoking?

Agree2 Disagree2

Lol, you need to get a girlfriend or find a hobbie, you have far to much time on your hands...

Agree2 Disagree3

And this is all the nonsense you could have thought of? the text box can hold alot more writing than you have entered, you may as well hae put some more bull in there just to show yourself up even more..... who knows maybe one day we will be able to write news about you like this but i dont think you will climb outta league 2 in my lifetime so its not really worth it.

JustASaint

Agree2 Disagree2

Rubbish on both accounts. No way Sharp is going anywhere.

Agree2 Disagree2

Sorry but just a question. What do you mean when you say the Ramirez deal is ''over'' do you mean Finished, or cancelled? Also haven't seen anything anywhere else about Sharp going to Forest or moving away from Saints -Ben

Agree1 Disagree2

Why would you make this up sharp is definitely not going out on loan

Agree2 Disagree2

What a load of garbage

Agree2 Disagree2

Dont talk crap. sharps not going to forest

Agree2 Disagree2

One word: b*******.

is hammond still in southampton squad?

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Yes but I'd imagine we'd accept an offer if it came our way.

Agree6 Disagree0

Yes he is in the squad. But I wouldn't expect him to feature regularly.

JJ

Agree5 Disagree1

For some reason yes.... :-/

Agree2 Disagree1

The buttner deal is now over.. he is going to man utd after a deal has been struck. will fly to manchester for medical in next few days.

sorce is from dutch reports, but just google (buttner man utd) youll see the reports there - chris

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Manchester United want Buttner?? Sounds odd...

Agree4 Disagree2

He's not going to united. That report was started by his agent as he is desperately looking to move.

Agree2 Disagree7

Just heard that 2 **** utd

Agree3 Disagree0

Why do United want this kid? Also you'd have expected Vitesse and United to confirm it but neither has said anything? If it's true then ok, we'll see how he is. If it's not then who'd want such a liar after all the annoyance he's caused his club and us.

Agree1 Disagree0

I suspect Fergie like secret agent and UK tax payer Harry Redknapp they don't have any conflicts of morality when handing over envelopes stuffed with cash to obscure 3rd parties at motorway service stations. Things may not have moved on in terms of signings players that we really really need, players we would love to have but the Don remains honourable.

Agree1 Disagree0

Spanked their budget on RVP. L Baines deal is off as Everton already received their payoff. Man U have made it clear they want a challenge for Evra (Scatty but brilliant), could happen.

Agree2 Disagree0

Why go to Man U when he could go to Saints-no ambition!!

Agree3 Disagree0

He is going to UTD they have paid 4 million and given him a 5 year contact, its all over Sky.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's a shame we didn't manage to sign him. He's off to man United

Agree2 Disagree0

I don't see it as a much of a loss. We didn't sign him because on balance, we didn't really want him. Great ability and lots of energy, but not a clever player in all senses of the word.
Just because he is now going to Man U, doesn't make him any better than he was when we rejected him.
Look at his highlights on YouTube. Great potential maybe but you can also see the naivety in his play and over enthusiasm to chase the ball. Not much of a team player either and based on where he is now with Vitesse and very disruptive.
We've already had our issues with Puncheon and don't need a repeat.
Good luck to them, but they would pay much more than £4m for Luke Shaw, and he is 17.

Huey

Agree1 Disagree1

^ I disagree Buttner will be a great player. Our scouts are second to very few and they saw something there. For united to be signing him they obviously saw it too. Hes only 23, raw and extremely talanted. And at the figure being quoted we were paying for him it appears to me he will end up being "The one that got away"

Agree0 Disagree0

^ Isn't that pretty much what I said? Great potential but not a great player yet... and won't be. Our scouts saw someone they could develop. He is not the finished article. He'll go to United and blow it. He'll be dropped in to play for the first team too soon because they are desperate for left back cover and can't afford Baines, will get slated as "not good enough for United" by the fans and will disappear from sight when they buy someone else in January. United aren't great at developing young players for the first team these days and it is only the finished article players that come good. And before any closet Man United fans jump down my throat there are so many examples. What happened to those supposed "great talents" Sonny Anderson, Ben Foster, Chris Smalling (in progress of flopping), Hernandez, Bebe

Its obvious sat here watching The Saints that we desperatley need replacements for both Fonte and Fox - any thoughts?

Believable4 Unbelievable8

Fonte wasn't too bad there. I mean he wasn't good enough but it wasn't as desperate as we'd have thought. I think Fox was good in that game apart from the one header to set up Nasri. He played well in the wing role we can manage with him. I do think we need another Centre back but Fonte isn't terrible.

Agree9 Disagree0

I don't know but I do agree that we need another centre back at least!
Fox is normally a good player but today he messed up big time.

Agree4 Disagree3

Fox not really we got shaw, but fonte yes and dont forget Mr Donkey Guly, he needs to go

Agree2 Disagree7

No we don't. The goals we conceded were purely tactical mistakes.

First goal was offside.
Second and Third goals were poor positioning for second ball.

If you give Man City 70% of possession then the defence is going to crack. We need better midfield ball retention.

JJ

Agree5 Disagree2

I couldn't agree with this post more

Agree1 Disagree3

Not going to be buttner he's signing for united wish we had gotten him

Agree3 Disagree4

I disagree, i think fox was good at going forward but defence wise yes he needs replacing. i do believe that fonte today steped up and showed us he does have wht it takes but he needs to show that everyweek. but a CB as cover would be nice. i did think that Davis in goal was a bit slow to react to the game today nd maybe he cost us a point. but this is only my opinion

JustASaint

Agree4 Disagree4

Priority is a center back!
Personally I think Puncheon is a one trick pony and a liabilty in our half (I hope Ramirez will be the answer). Left back would be nice.

Agree3 Disagree2

What are you lot talking about? We scored two goals against the champions! One of the best defences in the world! We were outstanding in the second half. We really rattled City. Yes we need another CB but i think we did really well today. Swansea were beaten 4-0 last year in the first game up at the Etihad. We should all be glad we didn't get a thrashing and congratulate our boys! They did us proud!

Agree6 Disagree0

Sorry this is unjustified criticism. Fonte made great aerial interventions today and the defence wasn't broken once, offside, pinball in box, fox mistake. Fox dealt well with the right side as j rod didn't track zabeletta. I don't like guly, but he was a class above what he was last season. Imo lallana had the weakest game and didn't discover his touch, yet he reacted to his mistake to set up Davis and we all know he will be great this year. Think he will be better through the middle when we play in a more advanced, attacking version of the formation such as in home games and against worse teams.

Agree6 Disagree1

Davis saved a number of shots today. He was superb! God a brilliant performance like todays and you all go off on one. It was Man City for crying out loud!

Agree4 Disagree1

We do need a cb and probably a gk and Ramirez, having said that I was
really proud of all of them today.

Agree1 Disagree0

Davis had a tough job, and sometimes as a keeper you just can't win. I know I've been there.

Agree1 Disagree0

We don't need a lb we have shaw we just need to play him, it sounded like fonte played well to me, however we need reinforcements at the cb anyway incase 1 gets injured/suspended

Agree1 Disagree0

Stop moaning you fools everyone played really well execpt fox header but that was only one mistake, guly fonte etc all played wel

Agree2 Disagree1

We are nit moaning, we are discussing where we can improve! There's always room for improvment. And to the person who said j rod didn't track back, are you serious? He was so good at helping out fox, he kept man citys right side quite!

JustASaint

Agree2 Disagree3

Guly was class today, he will rise to the bigger stage this season

Agree2 Disagree0

Can't believe someone is slagging of guly for the city match. He tried so hard and really impressed.

Agree1 Disagree0

Fox was awful. he constantly got caught out of position. He is too slow and very weak defensively. We urgently need a new left back and a centre back with pace and premiership appearance. Still not a bad performance all in all against the champions.

Agree0 Disagree3

Don't know what game you were watching, in fact Gary Neville picked up on it too. Watch it back and actually watch Rodriguez 1st half. 2nd half he was a bit better as I'd imagine NA pointed that out during the break. As a striker I don't think he has those instincts. Zabletta was ghosting past him so much in the 1st half and that was city's outlet.

Bologna have reportedly set the price-tag for Southampton to sign Gaston Ramirez - €15m in two instalments.

The Uruguayan declared there were “just details” separating him from the Saints this week, but that was quickly quashed by the furious reaction of his club.

According to Il Resto del Carlino newspaper, Southampton rang up Bologna President Albano Guaraldi over the weekend and offered to start from scratch.

The initial offer was considered to be insufficient, especially as it involved being paid over several instalments.

However, it now seems as if Bologna are willing to accept the spread of payments if they receive €10m upfront and a further €5m within a year.

This would only be to pay for the Rossoblu’s portion of the player’s contract, so not including the 30 per cent owned by Penarol or his agent’s commission.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

As the deal could cost you up to 25-30 million with wages over 4 years I don't see how you can afford it! you were only in administration 4 years ago seems you haven't learn't your lessons anyway I'm sure he will end up at a top club, can't really see him wanting to go to a side full of championship players odds on to be relegated.

Agree2 Disagree13

Chris same here, i heard this yesterday from a source in spian that a Prem club had made enquires but i didn't have it down as us

Chalkie

Agree4 Disagree0

We are the 5th richest club in England so your comments have no substance. Sounds like you're either a skate or a jealous spurs/liverpool fan. Either way, stop embarassing yourself.

Agree9 Disagree0

Well to the guy who posted about us not having the money and about being in administration 4 yrs ago, check it out fella we are now owned by BILLIONAIRES, YES THAT IS WITH A B !

Agree6 Disagree0

I'm sorry to whoever commented first on this but Southampton are one of the richest clubs in the world. It clearly is better than just Championship players as it went up from the Championship last season. Lallana, Clyne and both Davis' are Prem quality at least I'd argue many others are as well. They also have learnt there lesson they are making sure that the wages fall within profit margins at the club from sales, investment and ticket/merchandise sales. The club won't throw money away it invests.

Agree5 Disagree0

A team with championship players ha ha we **** the life out of the champions manc city watch this space thats all i say

Agree2 Disagree0

About the comment that sed we odds on to be relegated you aint got a clue after the way we played AT man citys GROUND we aint goin no where but up the saints r back for good

Agree1 Disagree0

We were leading city gor christ sake have faith we will be fine

I hearing some rumors on twitter that were now after christian tello from barcalona. i dont believe it myself, but after the ramirez bid , nothing would suprise me now -chris

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Tello can either play on the left or behind the striker. Makes sense as Lallana is more comfertable on the left and Guly isn't first team. Ramirez on the right and DAMN!
