Clyne won't be going anywhere

I think there's a very good chance Clyne will move on in the summer - if he hasn't signed a contract extension by then, it's a certainty. Saints won't run the risk of potentially losing a £20+ million asset for free.

There was rumoured interest in Byram in the summer, so he would seem an obvious option if Clyne leaves. From the little I've seen of him, he's better going forward than defending, but is a decent prospect.

Clyne's a London lad who loves it down south. He won't be heading anywhere other then a London club.

Chelsea (the only London team better then Saints) wouldn't by him when they have Ivanovic and Azpilicueta

Either way, Byram would be the ideal replacement / cover for Clyne and now would be the time to blend him in for the rest of the season.

I have a feeling Clyne will be off in the summer. I mean, there is no smoke without fire and I would suspect that Saints have sent scouts to watch Byram because they want to be prepared for just an instance. (I'm biased and think we have the best club in the world! But some players still see the names of Man Utd and Liverpool mentioned as interested and their heads are turned)

If Saints make the CL and both Man U and Liverhampton do not and then Clyne leaves for one of these 2 we can be sure that he has gone not for footballing reasons but because he turns out to be a greedy person!!

saintben1 doughnut ;) every body is forgetting one thing. Clyne has a good agent and is advised well. He turned down the chance to sign for Manchester united when they were by far the best club in the league / arguably the world! who did they sign for?????? US!!!! we improve with every game, Clyn is in the England squad, we have a chance of finishing in a European spot, dare I say it 3rd / 4th. He is a guaranteed starter for us who will double his wages when he signs a new contract with the saints and manager of the year Koeman!!!!!!!

We won't double his wages that's why we can't keep hold of our talent

Guaranga Dave talk about pessimistic!! why won't we double his wages?? Do you know what Osvaldo and Gaston earn a week?? we can totally afford to double his wages or give him a nice signing bonus

We have no cover at right back but plenty on the left. Corky can play there but it would be a good time to bring in a young pretender whether Clyne goes or not. I think that it is in the balance for him and Spider and getting in the CL may swing their decisions. I they go then so be it. they will have helped us get there and we will move on.

Clyne will earn far more playing for MANU or LIVERPOOL - maybe even ARSENAL too.
We need to develop talent and sell it at very high prices - its worked so far - and i think we need to be used to 2 players leaving a season. Clyne & Schneiderlin = £60m i think.

Could the interest in Byram just be in the interest of having a second choice RB, as Alderweireld and Yoshida have had to cover those positions despite being natural centre backs?

Nobody will go in the January window it's the media trying to whip up headlines. Trust in Koeman and our board as they carry on their astute business in all aspects. Behind the scenes Clyne's agent is taking advantage to try and get the best deal possible for him to stay on a new contract. COYR's
