Anyone know of any interest in any Saints youngsters, Ward-Prowse, Shaw, Targett, etc.?

Interest is there, Cortese is not willing to sell at any 'reasonable' price. Simples.

Yes, plenty of interest, but not for sale.

JWP signed a 5 year contract recently so can't see him going. Shaw committed to club so should be keeping hold of him.
Not sure about Targett - lots of interest - personally don't know much about him.

Sunderland are wrapping up their deal to take Mauro Zarate on loan with a view to buy. He will not be going to Southampton. Thank god.

Rumours say coutinho will prefer a move to liverpool but mauricio pocchetino has put a 6.5million bid in for Real Madrid's CF Jose Callejon Jose Maurinho said if a bid comes in for him he will let the spainard go.

Heard similar things about Callejon. Surplus to requirements at Madrid and Mourinho and Pochettino are good friends so I could see this happening. He would fit right in on either of the wings at Southampton. This is exactly the kind of quality we need if we're to not only stay up this season, but to seriously compete next.

Callejon is an excellent strikers but very much doubt he'd come here and not for 6.5m

Eds? Anything?
ChrisMiz {Ed001's Note - I haven't, I will ask if anyone else has regarding Callejon. Not sure what is happening with Coutinho, I know Liverpool asked about a loan deal, that was rejected out of hand. I really am not sure about all these reports of a transfer deal being done, Liverpool are deliberately putting out a lot of disinformation. Such as when there were reports of interest in Sneijder, when Liverpool made no move for him at all.}

Be an absolutely superb signing and you are right Maurinho and Pochettino are quite good friends and he is surplus to the requirements at Real Madrid.

Callejon played under Pochettino at Espanyol also.
Plus, as has been said, Pochettino is friendly with Mourinho and Callejon isn't needed.
£6.5 mil is a realistic price to offload an unwanted player who was originally signed for under £4million. Not sure what his wages are like though...

Callejon also worked under Pochettino at espanol so it seems like a deal that could happen and would be exactly what we need

Well this is clearly b*******. When you start a rumour on this site, remember as a first port of call that the manager doesn't handle the transfers.... That hasn't happened under Cortese and never will. He can ask for hijm, but Cortese will handle the entire process. So I doubt that PM has submitted any bid to real Madrid.

Quite probably so, however, having had "some weeks" in which to study us, I reckon it is quite possible MP has put some suggestions to NC
I also reckond that NC would be well aware of MP's connections and would be looking to use them to our advantage.

The manager may not directly handle the transfers, but if the manager can help as a selling point and has a specific player and a way to drive down the cost in the deal with a friend type thing, I'm sure a guy like Cortese would more than happily take a deal like that.

Callejob predominantly plays Right Wing, not CF.
So that actually makes it more likely we will sign him as having watched the team against Everton, it is clear that Puncheon is going to struggle to hold down that role under MP.
25 though... maybe a bit old for Saints?? We haven't signed anyone that old since Rickie Lambert :D

St Ripper-Puncheon was struggling with his guts! Cut him some slack.

My comment about Puncheon is nothing to do with his need to use the toilet.
If you'd been to the game against Everton, you would have seen how many times he holds on to the ball too long, gets caught out of position, misses the chance to make a pass, loses possession too easily and never looks up to see opportunities to play people in.
He is definitely talented but sadly, not intelligent enough to work with the team.
Liverpool might buy him off us when we replace him with Coutinho....

Agreed! It was clearly proven when he had Gaston on his left in space and decided it was better to take on 3 defenders and lose the ball
